Chapter 107: Battle with Jubei

A Sharpedo moved incredibly fast across the surface of the sea, stirring up massive waves. The commotion did not escape Giovanni's notice.

"Senior-level," he frowned, looking at the Sharpedo and the man, Jubei, on its back. If it was just one, he wouldn't have felt any pressure. However, the sea next to them erupted, and four more senior-level Sharpedo burst out.

Giovanni knew this was going to be tricky. Five senior-level Sharpedo... in the sea, their combat power was no less than that of a Gym Leader-level Pokémon. Even with all its abilities, his Beedrill probably wouldn't be their match.

"Focus Energy! Hone Claws!" He instructed his restless Beedrill. Then he shouted to his other two Pokémon, "Persian, Swift! Nidorino, Poison Sting!"

Following his command, they immediately launched an attack. The Persian leaped up, its tail swinging forcefully as glowing Swift stars flew from it, tearing through the air. The Nidorino was not to be outdone; it launched a volley of sharp Poison Stings that drew elegant arcs in the air as they shot towards the Sharpedo.

"Sharpedo, use Aqua Jet!" Jubei sneered with disdain. His Pokémon simultaneously used the move, their rapid movement creating a large amount of water that formed a defensive barrier.

In an instant, they blocked the attacks from both Persian and Nidorino. Turbulent streams of water then shot out like sharp arrows, tearing large holes in the bow of the Golden Beauty and heading straight for Giovanni and his Pokémon.

"Fury Attack! Slash!" Giovanni shouted. Nidorino and Persian instantly blocked in front of him. Nidorino's horn swung, breaking through one stream of water, but its strength was not enough. It was sent flying, but the Machoke behind it caught it in time, preventing it from being knocked out immediately. Persian, on the other hand, continuously used Slash, instantly breaking through the remaining streams of water.

All around them, wild Pokémon were constantly attacking the ship. Nidorino and Machoke currently did not have the strength to battle senior-level Pokémon, and at sea, their own combat power was greatly weakened. "You two," Giovanni said to them, "go deal with those wild Pokémon." Though unwilling, they could only comply.

"You have some skill," Jubei sneered when he saw that Giovanni had not been directly defeated. "But the leader only gave me five minutes, so I can't play anymore." He patted his Sharpedo's back. "Agility!"

Under his command, the speed of the five Sharpedo surged again, and they instantly closed in. Matisse and Archer, on the ship, also looked incredibly grim. They were already at sea, unable to fully exert their strength, and now they had encountered such a formidable opponent. It was all they could do not to become a burden.

"Beedrill, use Venoshock!" Giovanni commanded loudly. His partner went all out, its Poison-type energy gathering into a powerful venom that shot towards the five Sharpedo.

"Nonsense. Aqua Jet!" Jubei smiled coldly. They simultaneously used the move; the powerful water streams collided with the venom in mid-air, erupting in splashes and poisonous mist. Jubei leaped from his Sharpedo's back, then casually released a senior-level Staryu, letting it carry him as he began to frantically command his team.

"Agility, then leap up! Use Crunch!"

Under his command, the five Sharpedo's speed increased again, leaving afterimages on the sea surface. They instantly closed in on Beedrill and the Persian, then suddenly leaped up, their sharp teeth gleaming with a cold light.

"Persian, Swift and Slash! Beedrill, Fury Attack and Poison Sting!" Giovanni commanded again as Persian leaped, its tail swinging as Swift streaked through the air. It then used Slash, its sharp claws tearing towards the Sharpedo.

However, the Sharpedo were extremely fast, quickly twisting their bodies and dodging the attacks, then counterattacking with Bites. They bit through the Swift stars and then slammed into the Persian, knocking it down. The Persian deftly flipped in the air and landed steadily on the deck, but blood had already stained the fur on its chest.

"Beedrill, Fury Attack!" Giovanni's voice rang out again. "Don't let them have a chance to breathe!" His partner responded swiftly, circling in the air and then launching a fierce storm of attacks at the five Sharpedo.

Countless Poison Stings and the swinging of its large stingers intertwined, forming an impenetrable web that made it difficult for the Sharpedo to parry.

"Dive into the water!" As an experienced trainer skilled in water battles, Jubei had a solution. The five Sharpedo immediately dove, dodging Beedrill's attack, and then began to ram the hull of the Golden Beauty.

"Kid," Jubei said, a sneer playing on his lips, "you're quite interesting— but I don't have time to play with you anymore."

The five Sharpedo simultaneously gathered power. Their Aqua Jet move instantly erupted, powerful streams of water tearing through the air like blades, heading straight for the Golden Beauty.

"Beedrill, use Pin Missile!" Giovanni commanded loudly. His partner responded swiftly, its tail stinger shaking as Pin Missiles rained down, attempting to block the attack.

Boom! Boom!

Explosions echoed continuously— but the Sharpedo's Aqua Jet was too powerful. Though Beedrill's attack was fierce, it could not completely block the assault.

"Persian, full power Power Gem!" All Giovanni could do now was stop their advance. Gleaming gems condensed from beside the Persian, containing all of its power.

The Power Gem spun, instantly shooting out beams of light that struck the Aqua Jet. Under the impact of the Power Gem, the powerful water attack was instantly disintegrated.
