Chapter 6: Nen x Me
After Ging's simple explanation, Kevin had a rough grasp of what Aura was—and its more accurate name when used intentionally: [Nen].
All living beings possess Aura, the natural manifestation of life energy. However, not all lifeforms could control or harness this energy. Only through perception and disciplined training could it be properly used.
Those capable of such control were known as Nen users.
When he was about to ask more, Ging stopped him.
"It's not that I don't want to explain," Ging said, pointing at him. "But I have a pretty good idea of your current situation. I think you do too. You've probably realized by now, the original 'you' was also a Nen user. Given your circumstances, the best approach is a mix of explanation and rehab. That way, you'll recover faster."
Kevin found himself nodding. Ging was right. He even wanted to ask why they couldn't start right away.
But he held back. Ging didn't owe him anything. If anything, he was the one in debt.
As if sensing his thoughts, Ging spoke again. "It's not that I'm unwilling to teach you." He shook his phone. "It's just that I've already been delayed by you a lot, and I really do have something urgent. Rehabilitation takes time—it can't be rushed."
Standing up, Ging let out a quiet sigh. His gaze at Kevin carried a hint of nostalgia.
"To be honest, I'd love to train you myself. But I have more important matters right now. If you trust me, I'll find you a teacher. I'll come back when I can. How does that sound?" He looked at Kevin, awaiting a reply.
Kevin didn't know Ging well—they had only been together for a day. But he seemed like someone who wasn't malicious, and clearly, he was very interested in Kevin's situation. Without much hesitation, Kevin nodded. "Thank you."
Ging smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry. You don't treat me like a friend, and I don't either. But as a Hunter, I'm trustworthy when it comes to fulfilling a deal." He immediately took out his phone and dialed.
"Hello?"
———
The petite girl stared at the disconnected call, her face thoughtful.
"A teaching request? That's strange…" She had just accepted a job from a renowned Nen user, Ging.
As a fellow well-known Hunter, she had, of course, heard of him. They hadn't interacted much personally, but she knew of his eccentricities and the praise he'd earned from her old man.
Honestly, she hadn't wanted to accept the request, even if it was from the famous Ging.
But the reward he offered was tempting enough. Besides, her current situation made her uniquely suited for it. She closed the Handsome Men Monthly magazine on her lap, hopped off the stool, and shouted toward the next room.
"Wing! Let's go out for a bit!"
"Ah? Yes!" A tall young man wearing glasses emerged from the lounge area. He was dressed in a white shirt that was only partially tucked in, along with charcoal gray pants
"Even during training, you should carry yourself with grace," the girl scolded.
"Ah! Sorry, sorry!" the young man apologized and adjusted his ill-fitted clothes.

"This should be your old camp. Take a look around—maybe it'll help jog your memory." Ging handed Kevin a stack of documents. "Here. Everything I could find about you—your current registered address, property ownership, the works."
With that, he drove off in a jeep, leaving Kevin alone at the simple campsite.
"Huff…" Kevin exhaled slowly, steadying his emotions.
"I'm alone. In a strange world… well, here I am." Murmuring to himself, he tried to cheer up and surveyed the camp.
It seemed familiar. A black jeep sat nearby, covered in fallen leaves. The camp was barebones—just a single tent. Inside was only a sleeping bag.
Clearly, the original Kevin hadn't planned to stay long.
After a quick tidy-up, he got in the jeep, gathered his things, and started the engine.
Thankfully, the vehicle layout was no different from the ones in his past life. Everything worked as expected. The only annoyance was the outdated mobile phone—bulky, no touchscreen, and certainly no GPS.
He studied a physical map while driving.
It wasn't until evening that he finally left the nature reserve.
Though there were checkpoints along the way, no guards stopped him. He passed smoothly into the city and checked into a hotel.
After dinner, he sat on the balcony, gazing at the brightly lit streets below. It looked no different from his previous world, but he knew better. This was not the same place.
He began to ponder his new life.
He'd visited an internet café, absorbed more local knowledge, and wandered the streets for hours.
What was clear was that his physical strength was likely unmatched among normal people, as long as they weren't armed. But he had a gun too, which gave him at least some sense of security.
His next steps were clear. First, he needed to fully understand himself—his name, his identity, his relationships.
Then he needed to leave the city and take public transport back to his 'home.'
He'd continue learning about this world while waiting for the teacher Ging promised to send. Ging seemed like someone reliable, so Kevin trusted that the teacher would be too.
As for money, fortunately, he wasn't in immediate need.
He had already checked his bank accounts. The total balance across his cards came to 37 million. The local currency, Jenny, seemed to have purchasing power roughly equivalent to Japanese yen from his past life. He relied on that conversation to better understand and adjust.
For now, this amount would be more than enough to support him, and it gave him a much-needed sense of stability.
