Chapter 239: Chapter 130: Overtime Pay

After the bathroom crisis earlier, Hermione could no longer maintain her pretend angry face, and Glenn didn't push himself to continue his tasks. Instead, he lay quietly on the bed, recuperating and accepting Hermione's care.

After all, the source of the soul that had been extracted was preserved using alchemical devices, and it wouldn't go bad if left alone for a while. The matter of the alchemical golem wasn't urgent either, especially since his current expertise in alchemy wasn't sufficient to create a golem that met his expectations.

Take it slow.

Glenn lay quietly on the bed with his eyes closed, while Hermione sat beside him, studying diligently. When she got tired, she'd take a nap next to Glenn, then wake up to check his condition and administer potions.

Thus, the two of them spent rare peaceful moments in the Room of Requirement during these days.

Although the diary had been destroyed and the fragment of little Tom's soul had been eradicated, Glenn, lying on the bed, still felt there was some undiscovered danger lurking.

For some reason, a vague sense of crisis was pricking at his brain.

"Hopefully, it's just because I haven't fully recovered yet."

...

Glenn's fatigue was beyond his expectations. Under Hermione's meticulous care, he lay in bed for nearly two weeks before fully recovering.

Therefore, he missed the first Sunday of the Duel Club as a referee and mentor.

There were four professors in charge of the Duel Club: Glenn, Snape, Flitwick, and Lockhart, who had been bedridden long before Glenn. Originally, Flitwick and Lockhart were in charge on Saturdays, while Glenn and Snape took Sundays. Now, the two uninjured professors had to work overtime for two consecutive days.

Fortunately, Professor Snape received ample rare potion ingredients from Glenn as compensation, so he wasn't as irritable as Hermione imagined.

And Professor Flitwick, being the nice guy he was, didn't mind either. In fact, after learning the truth from Dumbledore, he visited Glenn with gifts and, after overcoming his initial shock, was eager to discuss the various tactics they used to defeat the Serpent with Glenn and Hermione.

The Muggle world's combat tactics were intriguing to this potential battle enthusiast professor.

Professor Flitwick highly praised Glenn and Hermione's clever use of various strategies during their battle.

Even without this incident, Professor Flitwick had always been supportive of the studious young wizards Glenn and Hermione. Hermione, who actually liked the knowledgeable professor, prompted Glenn to decide to make a firearm as a Christmas gift for Professor Flitwick.

However, considering Professor Flitwick's stature and his own combat style, Glenn decided to consult with Flitwick himself before deciding on the type of firearm to make.

Although this would take away the element of surprise when Flitwick opened his gift, it was clear that Flitwick didn't mind.

"A suitable weapon is better than a powerful one."

That's what Professor Flitwick said after understanding Glenn's intentions, and Glenn agreed.

The two battle enthusiasts shook hands solemnly, reaching an agreement.

Hermione, sitting at the table reading, rolled her eyes helplessly, resting her chin in her hand as she watched them.

When it came to battle, these two men got so excited. It was one thing for Glenn, who usually seemed uninterested in anything, to be interested, but even the usually composed Professor Flitwick acted like a child?

Is it true that men remain boys at heart until they die?

This was just a minor episode in the interaction between Glenn, Hermione, and Professor Flitwick. However, as a result, Flitwick would never again see these two extraordinary children as ordinary young wizards.

Even though they worked together, the fact that they managed to eliminate the Serpent, which had been causing chaos at Hogwarts, in just one night was enough for Professor Flitwick to place them on an equal footing with himself.

He didn't plan to lecture them about the dangers of such actions, as he knew from a year and a half of observation that Glenn and Hermione were very smart and capable of making sound judgments.

Of course, if they ever encountered danger, he would do his best to help them, as Glenn and Hermione were his prized students after all.

The only regret was why that Sorting Hat hadn't placed these knowledge-hungry, studious, and inquisitive young wizards in Ravenclaw?

Hmm?

If only the head of the house had the authority to reassign students, he would surely try to bring these two diligent young wizards to his house.

Well, that's just wishful thinking, as Professor Flitwick knew full well that Professors McGonagall and Snape were very fond of these two kids and would fight him tooth and nail if he tried to snatch Glenn and Hermione away.

Anyway, he could still teach them, so it didn't matter which house they were in.

Sigh... it just means the chances of winning the House Cup have decreased a bit. Hopefully, the little ones will work harder.

Shaking his head, Flitwick dispelled the chaotic thoughts from his mind. By this time, it was already the second week after the Serpent had been dealt with. Glenn, who had defeated the Serpent, had regained his mobility, while his unfortunate student Lockhart, who had only been affected by the explosion curse, remained in bed with no intention of joining him to oversee the Duel Club.

Professor Flitwick called a halt to the duel between the young wizards, analyzed their respective issues, and then glanced at Snape, who, despite his impatient demeanor and venomous tongue, was earnestly supervising the club. Flitwick chuckled.

Even though Glenn had recovered, Professor Flitwick wasn't planning to let him join the supervision of the Duel Club just yet. A bit more rest would be better, so for now, it was still just him and Snape working overtime.

Due to the recent Chamber of Secrets incident at Hogwarts, other professors hadn't had time to return home to take care of their affairs. Now that the incident was resolved, they all rushed back to their nests on Friday afternoon to handle their long-neglected personal matters, leaving only him, Albus, Severus... and, uh, Gilderoy at Hogwarts.

"Hope Albus gives us extra pay for the overtime."

Professor Flitwick joked, shrugging, before refocusing on the dueling students.

However, Professor Flitwick's serious work attitude prevented him from noticing the peculiar little spider in the shadows of the ceiling quietly crawling out through a window crack.
