Chapter 142: Chapter 140 - Rosaria Valenstein.
[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]
Third Person POV
London.
...
...
"You are...?!." The words of the woman in red, spoken in Romanian, broke the brief silence in front of the forest near the castle. Dracula's daughter was quite surprised to find a young man there, clearly human, a wizard in other words, accompanied by a magical creature, seemingly prepared to enter her father's territory, which was very strange.
The man only stared at her, narrowing his eyes, seeming to recognize her and wondering what damned luck had brought him to meet this woman in such a place.
As for the girl, still unsure of what to say, even with her 200 years of experience, she knew that few things surprised her so much, and this was one of them. She looked at him curiously for a moment. At first, she thought of covering her nose, imagining a stench wafting toward her, but noticed there was no foul odor coming from the human—at least, not from that distance.
"It can't be..." she murmured, barely able to control her body as she stepped forward, leaning in slightly to sniff the air from more than five meters away. As she got closer, she confirmed there was no strange smell. He, on the other hand, observed her actions with distrust and wariness.
"What are you doing?" he asked in English, making her stop at about three meters away, still trying to catch a scent, but without success. His accent, undeniably British, quickly revealed his identity.
"So it is you..." she began to piece things together. There could only be one reason for this. Of course, he was indeed the person she had been pursuing in England.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment. Snape realized he would have to take her down if he wanted to pass, and it wouldn't be discreet—at least, not if she could keep up with him. Quickly, he drew his wand, while she, in turn, widened her eyes, leaving her lips slightly parted. Before Snape could act, she was just as fast and cast a spell.
"You came all the way here... What luck for me. I can hardly believe it!" she exclaimed, fearlessly lunging at him. After all, she had fought him before.
In the next moment, their spells collided. A red beam clashed with Snape's magical energy, generating an explosion that lit up the dark forest and echoed everywhere, while both were thrown back. Nearby creatures and inhabitants around the area heard the impact of their clash in the forest near the castle.
When the dust settled, both were on opposite sides of the field. Snape landed effortlessly, while the woman vanished and reappeared nearby, moving with a calm gait, keeping her eyes on Snape. Despite her leap, she walked with a natural elegance across the terrain.
"You're different from back then... You're stronger," she observed, glancing at her own hand, burned from the impact, before looking at Snape with renewed interest. In her mind, she wondered how this human had become so powerful in just over half a year.
"Maybe I don't need to hold back anymore," she murmured with an excited smile, staring at the young man before her. He seemed different now. Despite everything, she didn't find it unpleasant. He was young and, to her, certainly a man she could call the most handsome she had ever seen, which left her feeling invigorated.
"Before we continue this..." she said suddenly, as Snape kept his gaze fixed on her, his wand already poised. "Surely, this place will be swarming with creatures after our little skirmish. But first... I want to know your name," she demanded.
"..." Snape didn't answer. He continued to look at her, prepared to strike at any moment, while raising a hand to the Graphorn, which seemed eager to join the fight. It was better if it just stayed back and observed.
She sighed at his silence. "Well, perhaps it was rude of me. You don't need to go first. Allow me to introduce myself then. My name is Rosaria Valenstein, a name in honor of my mother. Since I cannot bear my father's name like my sister does, for no one can utter it without disturbing him."
Rosaria gave a small smile and continued:
"Besides, thinking about it, you studied at Hogwarts, didn't you? I ask because I remember an earlier occasion... My father's name was mentioned there once. He wanted to know who dared to call him. Now it all makes sense. Although I don't know why you weren't at the school the day we met at the auction, I'm glad to have met you and to see you again."
"..." Snape raised an eyebrow, thinking about her words but remained silent.
"Now tell me your name. You know I already know a lot about you. If I want, I can easily find out, but will you really make a girl wait for you to say your name?" she insisted.
Snape stayed quiet for a moment, pondering. But she was right; there wasn't much point in keeping his name and identity a secret, especially now that she seemed to know so much. Besides, Snape recalled the conversations in the Chamber of Secrets, where Dracula's name was mentioned when he spoke with Salazar's portrait.
"Severus Snape," he finally said with a firm tone. "A half-blood, if that matters to you." He shrugged, already accustomed to insinuations about blood purity, and decided to mention the detail, even though he wasn't sure of its importance to her.
"Well, it's a little disappointing that you don't come from a pureblood family," she commented with amusement but continued, "but that changes nothing."
"That really doesn't matter," Snape replied coldly. "After all, we have unfinished business. Last time, you played me for a fool."
"Oh, that was just a test. I wanted to see if you were truly worthy. Don't be so offended, Severus Snape." Rosaria smiled as if apologizing, but Snape didn't like it. "I was, and still am, interested in you."
"..." Snape didn't reply and raised his wand. Blue electricity began to form at its tip, spreading bolts throughout the area. Rosaria raised an eyebrow, surprised, before smirking maliciously.
"Very well. Let's see how much you've grown," she said, excited. She immediately charged and launched her red magic toward Snape. He responded with his thunder spell, which clashed against her attack.
The two spells met in midair, creating a power struggle in the next moment. Red and blue colors fought for supremacy, illuminating the surroundings. Rosaria watched the scene with fascination, noticing that Snape hadn't used Avada Kedavra but a spell she didn't recognize.
"Incredible... I'm using 50% of my strength, and it's not enough," she murmured, impressed. "The level of magic you've reached... Let's see what else you can do."
She increased the power of her wand, releasing more energy, which began to give her the advantage. Her magic started pushing Snape's spell back.
The area quickly became enveloped by dark lines as Snape struggled against Rosaria. He noticed the approach of other presences during their duel—vampires from the region, drawn by the sound of the battle. As they appeared around Snape and Rosaria, they began disturbing Atlas.
Snape felt his strength waver at that moment and quickly unleashed more power, concentrating all his energy into the attack. His spell grew thicker, more chaotic, and more powerful, pushing Rosaria's beam back.
"What? He can pressure me to this point!" Rosaria murmured, a mixture of admiration and shock on her face. "I'll use all my strength too!"
She released her maximum power, and both spells thickened, generating an immense light in the middle of the dark forest. The vampires around them continued to watch, stunned. Some of them, realizing the human was facing Dracula's daughter, Lady Rosaria, stepped forward, ready to attack Snape.
"Don't even think about it! I'm fighting him, and I don't want anyone interfering!" Rosaria's authoritative voice echoed as a direct command. All the vampires instantly stepped back, lowering the hands they had raised to attack.
Snape, alert, also glanced around, knowing he would need to keep an eye on those guys as well. His gaze fell on the Graphorn.
"Protect yourself, Atlas!" Snape shouted, as the two beams of energy continued to collide. The energy generated by the fight was increasing exponentially. It was like the first time the two had clashed, but unlike before, when it was merely destructive, now they were on another level. Both were using their full power, making the confrontation far more devastating.
Even Rosaria seemed astonished. She observed the sphere of energy forming at the collision point of their spells, growing in intensity and size. The space around them began to distort under the pressure of the magic.
The vampires, sensing the imminent danger, prepared for the impact, with most fleeing the area. In the next moment, without any warning, the sphere of energy between the two beams suddenly contracted, concentrating into a single point before exploding in a wave of pure destruction.
The explosion of blue lightning and red light began evaporating everything in its path, expanding rapidly. Snape, realizing the danger, teleported Atlas away from the affected area. Rosaria disappeared in a swift motion, avoiding being consumed by the wave of destruction.
In the next instant, the entire area within a radius of 100 meters was obliterated. The explosion shook all of Transylvania, drawing the attention of creatures and humans in nearby villages. The light and tremors were felt for kilometers.
Even the old man who had assisted Snape's entry turned his eyes toward the region. He was far away but could feel the tremors and see the red glow illuminating the sky.
"What's happening there?" he murmured, terrified. "That boy's a lunatic! Where did Steve find this guy?! He's in the territory of that being!" He shook his head, nervous. "I don't want to die!"
The old man cursed to himself before deciding to run, getting as far away from the area as possible. He knew he didn't want to be involved in whatever was happening.
Inside the castle, Dracula rested in a luxurious coffin in a room decorated with opulence. Suddenly, the coffin's lid swung open abruptly, and he awoke, surprised by the explosion outside the castle.
"What is happening here? Is it Rosaria? What is she up to now?" he murmured, irritated at being awakened. He had planned to take a "nap" for a few months since his daughter had mentioned going to England, leaving him alone. Now, it seemed she was already involved in some commotion. He wondered what could be going on.
In the destroyed area, Snape emerged from the ashes. The entire place had been transformed into a desolate wasteland, with embers still glowing across the ground. Trees, the swamp, and even the waterlogged soil had completely vanished, reduced to nothing.
Snape observed intently as he began to be surrounded. Vampires emerged from all directions, advancing toward him. He narrowed his eyes, analyzing the situation. At least forty vampires were approaching, all taking combat stances, baring their claws and sharp teeth.
Snape maintained a calm demeanor despite the threat. Then, his Monarch's Aura began to manifest. Dark energy radiated from him, and his eyes gleamed with a menacing intensity. The vampires hesitated suddenly, feeling a primal fear take hold of them. Even without understanding what they were facing, the power of that aura compelled them to retreat, shocked and terrified.
At that moment, a red distortion appeared in the air, and Rosaria reemerged. Her eyes were wide with admiration.
"Incredible! That power... the power of death! I never thought a human could generate something like this! It's so pure..." she murmured to herself, unable to hide the fascination and admiration she felt for Snape.
Turning to the vampires, Rosaria raised her voice with authority. "What did I say about not interfering?! You'd better leave now. I'll deal with him." Her voice carried a restrained anger as she addressed them for attempting to attack Snape again.
The vampires didn't hesitate. They quickly nodded and vanished, retreating far away but still observing from a distance, unwilling to leave the area entirely.
Snape turned his cold gaze to Rosaria, who stared back at him without flinching. Her red eyes glowed intensely, and an excited smile spread across her lips.
"You're on the same level of power as me! This is incredible! It took me two hundred years to achieve this strength... but you reached it in, what, twenty years?" Rosaria smiled, still admiring the aura of death emanating from Snape.
"Don't be mistaken," Snape said in a firm tone. "I may have increased my magic, but that's no longer my focus." He stepped to the side, his eyes locked on hers. "My raw strength is far beyond yours."
In the next moment, he disappeared in a swift movement, advancing directly toward the half-vampire!
