How to Love a Night Fury how to train your dragon

Chapter 63: chapter 8

I followed the woman and Cloudjumper out of the nest in hybrid form, all of the resident dragons following behind us.

The woman looked over at me as I flew beside Cloudjumper with a curious look. "How interesting. Why is it necessary for you to have the ability to transform only halfway?"

"I'm not quite sure. I'll have to ask my mother the next time I visit. Hey, I thought we were going to eat!"

"Oh, we are!" She said with excitement.

I looked down to see Seashockers herding a school of fish. The Bewilderbeast then jumped out of the water, catching the fish in his open mouth, then proceeded to spit them out into the air for the nest residents.

"Ha-ha-ha!"

"No way…" I breathed out.

I opened up my arms and caught a decent amount of fish as the other dragons feasted mid-air. Then I remembered that Hiccup was in the nest alone and looked towards the woman.

"I'm sorry to abandon our conversation, but Hiccup is alone back at the nest and I know for a fact that he has not had a single thing to eat since this morning. Excuse me."

Before she could give a response, I was already halfway back to the nest.

It didn't take me long to locate Hiccup once I was back. He was sitting in a clearing close to the large pool that the Bewilderbeast was in not too long ago watching the water ripple calmly. His legs were close to his chest with his arms resting atop them as his head lay right on top of them.

"Hey.." I said as I landed and claimed the spot next to him as I set the fish down. "I brought some food..how ya feeling?"

Hiccup didn't look at me as he sighed heavily. "Like my world has been flipped head over tail…I mean who in their right mind would come out of nowhere and claim to be the mother you thought was eaten by a Stormcutter when you were only six months of age? It's outrageous."

I smiled softly and rubbed his back in soothing circles.

"It just makes no sense..how does that woman expect me to believe that she is my mother? Even if she was telling the truth, there is no way in Hel that I would even consider calling her as such."

"Well we won't know for sure unless you talk to her, now will we?" I asked softly.

Hiccup locked eyes with me. I could see the pain swimming within his forest orbs.

"I can't…"

I smiled gently and kissed his forehead. "And I won't force you to, alright..? Do you need some more time to gather your thoughts, my love..?"

Hiccup nodded slightly as he hid his face. I gave him one last kiss before I ventured back outside to give him the space he needed.

Once I caught up with the nest I noticed the woman was looking at me with concern.

"Is Hiccup alright?" She asked once I was in hearing range.

"He is. It is just taking time for him to wrap his head around everything. He'll come around eventually." I reassured her.

She nodded then lit up. "What would you say to some gliding?"

"I would love to." I said with a joyous smile.
