Chapter 54: ch-54
Konoha Shinobi Village, Land of Fire
"Um?"
In the heart of the bustling Konoha village, people were going about their day when, suddenly, a strange darkness began to loom above their heads.
It felt like a massive shadow—no, like an enormous dark cloud—was slowly blanketing the sky.
"What's going on?"
"Is it going to rain?"
Bewildered murmurs rippled through the crowd as villagers and shinobi alike turned their gazes upward.
And then...
Every pair of eyes widened in horror.
"W-What… is that…?"
On a nearby street, Mitarashi Anko had just bought a dango skewer and was cheerfully munching when she looked up—and froze in disbelief.
Elsewhere on the same street:
"What in the world is happening?" Haruno Sakura whispered, her legs stopping mid-step as her eyes locked on the sky.
In the Hyūga compound—
"Father! In the sky—!"
Hinata Hyūga rushed toward her father, but Hiashi Hyūga was already standing outside in stunned silence, staring upward.
In that instant...
Everyone in Konoha who could see… saw it.
A massive meteorite—colossal and unstoppable—was descending slowly from the sky above the village.
No one could imagine what would happen if it fell.
Could any jutsu possibly stop this?
Why had a meteorite suddenly appeared over Konoha?
---
Hokage Building – Rooftop
"So... this is the boss's true power?"
Deidara, a member of Akatsuki, stood atop the building, his expression twisted in awe as he stared at the meteorite looming above.
"The power of the legendary Shura of the Shinobi World… Uchiha Madara... Is this what he calls art?" said Sasori of the Red Sand, momentarily abandoning his obsession with eternal puppets as he took in the terrifying display.
Even seasoned Chūnin nearby were trembling. If that thing actually landed, how could anyone survive?
"Rinnegan... is it really capable of something like this?" muttered Nagato, the wielder of the very same dōjutsu. His own 'Chibaku Tensei' could simulate similar effects, but this was something else entirely.
No floating rocks forming a core.
No gradual pull.
This was instant.
Madara's [Tengai Shinsei] summoned a meteorite directly from the heavens—with devastating precision.
"Could it be true?" Konan whispered. "That the Rinnegan originally belonged to him… Uchiha Madara?"
She recalled the technique she once devised with millions of exploding tags. Now, she wasn't sure if even that could rival the destructive power descending upon them.
And if it hit…
She wouldn't survive. None of them would.
---
"Madara! What the hell are you doing?! STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!!"
Tsunade, eyes wide with terror, raced up to Susanoo's towering form and shouted with every ounce of strength in her lungs.
If that meteorite landed, the entire village—no, the entire region—could be annihilated.
"Summoning Jutsu!!"
Jiraiya didn't hesitate. He slammed his palm to the ground.
Poof—!
A thick cloud of smoke billowed, and from it emerged the two Great Toad Sages, Fukasaku and Shima.
"This… why? Why is it him again?"
The moment they opened their eyes, both toads spotted the towering form of Madara—and were immediately on edge.
The last time they were summoned to Konoha, they had witnessed the terrifying power of the reincarnated Uchiha Madara—Leo.
And now, not long after returning to Mount Myōboku, they were here again.
Facing the same nightmare.
Leo stood with his arms crossed, looking on calmly from the sidelines. A faint smirk played on his lips as he watched the chaos unfold. When he glanced at the newly arrived toads, a glimmer of amusement flashed in his eyes.
Fukasaku and Shima gulped.
That aura—the invisible pressure—they could feel it again. Just standing near him was like being coiled by a giant python.
It was suffocating.
"Heh." Leo chuckled lightly, his obsidian eyes gleaming.
With the real Uchiha Madara present, Leo had no reason to act. He could simply enjoy the spectacle.
As tension mounted, the toads, still disoriented, hadn't even noticed the sky above them.
"Thank you both. Help me enter Sage Mode. We have no time to waste," Jiraiya said urgently.
"Understood!" the toads replied in unison, leaping onto his shoulders.
---
"Little Jiraiya," Shima began as they stabilized, "why are you fighting that living Shura again? It's suicidal!"
"And why is it so dark? Isn't it still daytime?"
Before she could say more, Shima glanced upward—and froze.
"What… what is that?!"
Astonishment overtook her voice.
"A m-meteorite?!" Fukasaku stammered. "You're planning to fight that?"
"This is insane," Shima added, shaking.
"I have to try," Jiraiya said firmly. "I'll enter Sage Mode and use a full-power Massive Rasengan. If we don't stop that thing… it's over."
The two Sages nodded, suppressing their panic as they began syncing with Jiraiya.
---
Inside the majestic ribcage of his second-stage Susanoo, Uchiha Madara looked down at the toads and Jiraiya with disdain.
"Toads from Mount Myōboku… laughable," he said with icy amusement, his Rinnegan flickering.
He didn't see them as a threat.
He didn't see anyone as a threat.
---
"Um… Boss, shouldn't we get out of here?" whispered Kakuzu to Pain.
The meteorite's descent was slow but terrifying. With each passing second, it grew closer, and Kakuzu's instincts were screaming for him to flee.
This wasn't just overwhelming power—it was apocalyptic.
And he wasn't alone.
Deidara, Sasori, Kisame—all of them were visibly shaken.
Even Hidan, for once, was struck speechless.
The immortal devotee of Jashin stood frozen for several long seconds before finding his voice.
"H-Haha! I'm immortal! So I'll survive, right? …Right?"
But no one answered him.
The air was too heavy with fear.
And then Madara's cold voice echoed again—
"You're welcome to try stopping it."
"You all boast of strength... Let's see it."
"Because—"
"I can summon a second one!"
The words hit harder than any jutsu.
A second one?
Silence gripped the entire battlefield.
Even Jiraiya, mid-transition into Sage Mode, paused for a heartbeat.
"A… a second one?" he muttered.
Was he serious?
Was this a joke?
No one dared laugh.
Because Uchiha Madara was not the joking type.
Not even Leo, still watching from the sidelines, could suppress the chill that ran down his spine.
