Hogwarts: The Unscientific Wizard (TL)

Chapter 766: Chapter 766: Good things

On the early third morning after the visit to the Department of Mysteries, when the sun still hasn't fully risen. In the clearing behind the house, Andy waved his wand with a letter in his hand, feeling happy.

After a small stand was transfigured and jerkies were summoned as a treat for the owl, he read the letter, which was the expected one.

In these three days, many good things have happened to him.

On the first morning, after breakfast, Andy once again realised how convenient and versatile this world's magic is when making parts needed to make a revolver.

There was no need for fire to melt the metal.

There was no need for a blacksmith or special machinery to smith various parts.

With magic, anything is malleable. You can mould metals, flesh and bones of magical creatures like dragons and anything else into any shape, like Play-Doh. Only your thoughts and magic limit you.

Maybe goblins would say smiths are needed to make the metal more durable and pure. That only means they don't know enough spells or are trying to keep their brand.

The revolver that Grindelwald handed him is a magical item: a Muggle revolver modified and enchanted using spells, so it was easy to make and use.

The only downside is it can't be used by squibs and muggles because it needs to be channelled with magic like a wand.

So, if he wants to gift it to Hermione's parents or other Muggles and Squibs for self-defence, he needs to turn it into an alchemical item that can store and retain magic or create it using a part of a magical material. Making it work even in muggles' hands, like the Invisibility Cloak and Portkey.

Thus, he made a revolver using cheap Sycamore wood, making the enchantment to use magic in the material to shoot the bullet, using the same method used to make a toy broomstick for kids.

Although it still needs slight magic to activate the magic in the material, which means you have to be at least a Squib to use it, Andy got to learn his first good news thanks to making it.

That he can gain potential points faster by using the knowledge he gained to make new things.

Nowadays, it takes nine to twelve days for him to gain one potential point, but he gained a potential point after making the revolver; it took him less than nine days to gain that point.

From this, he learned that he could gain points faster by making use of the knowledge he has to modify and create new things, compared to creating and practising with existing blueprints and modules.

Does that mean creative use of existing knowledge and intense thinking help to gain potential points faster?

So a question arose in Andy's mind. If he customises, optimises, and modifies the spells he mastered, can he also gain potential points faster?

This question alone made Andy happy, as it gave him more things to work on.

But the second good thing followed shortly after.

That evening, Phoenix Fawkes showed up with a letter in its talon.

In that letter, Dumbledore expressed his sorry for not honouring his promise till now.

He pointed out that it had been hectic due to the teacher of a certain someone on the European side, so he had been held up here because of that.

Then, he mentioned that he would be at Hogwarts at the start of the next semester, when he could make time to fulfil his promise to him, and they could also have an open and heartfelt conversation at that time.

Giving Andy a good sleep that night.

The next day, Andy decided to test his conjecture about faster potential points accumulation by optimising and modifying the spells he mastered.

The spell he chooses for that is Shield Charm.

From what he learned, the Shield Charm of Grindelwald was capable of stopping artillery. Although the average adult wizard can only stop one to three continuous bullets, it also proved it can stop physical attacks like bullets.

So, he decided to work on the Shield Charm first, given that they had already started researching and testing hot weapons. To increase Hermione's, his family's, and his own safety.

The modification and optimisation of the spell went easier than he expected. Thanks to the fusion of his mind, magic, and soul.

First, he created a fusion spell of the Shield and Bubble-Head Charms, creating breathable, human-shaped transparent armour. Although you can use it most times to guard against sneak attacks, it hinders flexible movements unless you master the spell.

He learned about this flaw after he made it into a general spell with incantation and wand movement and let Hermione learn it.

For a spell, an incantation is a tool that uses language to help the average wizard's brain and body visualise and remember the intent and thought expressed in the spell. For example, young wizards will learn that the Wingardium Levisoa incantation is equal to the levitation action; with practice, they will deeply believe that with that incantation they can levitate objects.

The hand gestures and wand movements, on the other hand, are helpful to move magic in a certain pattern to produce the effect of a spell.

Like the hand seals used in Naruto.

To transform the magic he used with his thoughts into modern general magic, he needs to remember the pattern the magic moved within when using the magic and use certain wand movements that make magic move similarly to create a spell.

Anyway, despite the flaws it has, like low flexibility, joints being more fragile than other parts, and the shock wave from the attack affecting the body, which needs to be addressed. But in case of a sneak attack, this spell will give you enough time to react.

And if you master the spell, you can use it passively, like everyday wear, like an extra piece of cloth.

Moreover, he confirmed it really helps to accumulate potential points faster, as the liquid inside the orb in the system panel increased at a much faster rate.

It was another good news he got yesterday.

So, he decided to modify, customise, and optimise more spells in the coming semester.

Today, the letter from Grindelwald was also good news.

He mentioned that he would come this evening to pick him up to observe the resurrection ritual.

He mentioned that it took them more time than expected to make preparations because most people in the criminal gang didn't have deep enough loyalty to willingly sacrifice a body part for their leader, so it took them more time to weed out and find two candidates who were willing to give their flesh to their leader.

After reading the letter, Andy turned it into ash and skipped back to the house in a good mood, with Fat Cat following behind.

Finally, the trip to Germany is about to end, and he can pinch and pull the soft cheeks of Isa to increase his happiness index and his battery.

Well, to stop that lass from making a scene and complaining to Mum, he needs to buy some sweets to bribe her before leaving.
