Chapter 765: Chapter 765: Promise
After their visit to the Department of Mysteries was complete, Andy and Grindelwald left the Ministry, saying their farewell to Eliza.
A few seconds later, under the moonlight, with a crackle, Andy and Grindelwald appeared outside the compound of the house where Andy is currently staying.
Taking a deep breath, Andy decided to take a quick shower and call and chat with Hermione about today's event before sleeping.
Knowing that he had gone to the Department of Mysteries with Grindelwald for a visit, Hermione must be waiting anxiously in the Ravenclaw library to hear from him without sleeping.
She had been worried that Grindelwald was up to no good and must have ulterior motives even after learning about the possible tactic understanding between him and Dumbledore, pointing out his past actions and the book parcel he sent with his symbol on the front.
Andy felt happy that someone other than his family was worried about him and didn't want to make her wait anymore, so he said his goodbye. "Thanks for this trip, Mr Grindelwald. I have learnt a lot."
"It is already midnight, so go to bed soon. At your age, you should take care of your health."
"See you soon, goodnight."
While Andy was planning to leave, seeing his rush, Grindelwald shook his head with a smile, thinking he was impatient to talk to his girlfriend, and muttered. "Youth."
Then, remembering he also needed to send a letter to Dumbledore, Grindelwald called him out and hurried to leave. "Wait. Take this."
With a wave of his wand, Grindelwald conjured a revolver and a small booklet. "This is the result of research in the New World. Modified Muggle weapon that uses magic to eject and shoot the bullet instead of chemical and smelly powder. They gave me a few pieces as a token with a blueprint and guide."
"I won't be able to show up here, so play with this and try to create one; with this, you won't feel bored."
"I will contact you in a day or two when all the preparation for the ritual is done."
Taking the gun and the manual, Andy looked at it with a strange expression.
So the gun has made its way even to the magical side of America?
Looking at the gun, Andy decided to create a sneakoscope quickly and also increase his physical and magical defence before the guns made their way out of America's Department of Mysteries.
Seeing Grindelwald was about to leave using Apparition, Andy suddenly remembered something and asked hurriedly, "Wait, Mr Grindelwald. If you don't mind, can you tell me about the future you saw?"
Grindelwald paused for a moment and left immediately after saying a few words, "The Promise will be honoured soon."
"Promise. What promise?" Andy muttered, looking at the place Grindelwald was standing, confused.
Then, remembering that he was also in a hurry, he decided to think about it later and made his way to the house.
After taking a quick shower and freshening up, Andy plopped on his bed with a Two-way Mirror in his hand after summoning Fat Cat to stay by his side.
Just a few seconds after the call, Hermione picked up the mirror and answered.
She looked sleepy, sitting on a sofa with a book in her hand.
Looking at her, Andy felt a little moved and talked about today's event in an engaging way after a small talk.
"Hi, Hermione. Sorry for the wait."
"...We went to Ancient Cathedral and met Ms Eliza, an old witch..."
"- Entrance hall looked like a mechanical planetarium... I will take you there next school year..."
"... there was a twisted and charred corpse in the rune room..."
"Hahaha, sorry, did you get spooked... the mechanical room full of modified Muggle tech..."
"You know Knight Bus, right? It was... in the Mirror Room... Mr Grindelwald said, 'The Promise will be honoured soon.' What do you think? ..."
"You mean it might be about Dumbledore's promise to duel me if the prophecy was about me...."
"I will borrow Pensieve from him and show you..."
"...I miss you, too. I will be back soon in a day or two..."
The night continued to deepen as they talked until Hermione's eyes shut a few times, which made Andy call it a day.
This trip to Germany, and the distance, seemed to have made them close a bit more.
***
Inside Dumbledore's house in Germany.
The moonlight shed inside the study from the open window.
In front of the fireplace, Dumbledore sat in an armchair with a book in his hand, looking tired.
Andy was right in his guess that there was tacit understanding and agreement between him and Grindelwald regarding the recent events.
After Andy's tip to Grindelwald about Voldemort's death. With some thought, Grindelwald decided it was best to meet Dumbledore directly and talk to him instead of playing a cat-and-mouse game and wasting time and money.
So, a few days after Dumbledore showed up in Germany, Grindelwald contacted him and expressed his intention to talk.
Although Dumbledore was surprised, he wasn't worried, so he agreed to meet him.
When they met, Grindelwald promised to not initiate the war with Muggles and not to breach the Statute of Secrecy, fully aware of his concern.
Seeing his doubts and scepticism, Grindelwald talked about his followers' half a century of efforts and research, claiming he is planning to speed up the progress of wizards, both in technology and power, by uniting the talented minds.
After a long talk, Dumbledore relented under Grindelwald's silver tongue.
Decided to watch from the sidelines for now.
"Hoot, Hoot."
The silence in the study was broken by the hooting and the flapping sound of the owl that arrived to deliver Grindelwald's letter.
After that meeting, Grindelwald had been sending letters twice a week, talking about the progress they made.
Today's letter is particularly important, as it is about a trip to check the research progress in Germany and giving Andy a tour through the Department of Mysteries.
Waving his wand, Dumbledore conjured the treats to the owl and opened the envelope to read the letter.
Dumbledore looked calm and disinterested, reading about the research and the different rooms of the Department of Mysteries.
When he read about Andy possibly gaining inspiration to complete the fusion of body and mind, he became slightly interested.
Because he had just recently learned about Andy's ghost transformation directly from Minerva.
When he reached the part that talked about Andy's disinterest in the resurrection ritual and his words, 'I just miss my sister and Hermione', Dumbledore paused a bit and looked at his sister's painting on the wall before him.
'Ariana, father, mother… soon, I will go on the journey you three went on and find out about the end of the adventure after the death.'
At the end, is it leading to the next life and reincarnation? Or to the new world, like heaven and hell?
After pausing for a short while, Dumbledore looked at the last part, in which Grindelwald was urging him to fulfil the promise and agreement to duel with Andy.
Dumbledore shook his head with a smile.
Did Andy nag him for a duel as well?
Well, it is indeed time to honour the promise.
Dumbledore conjured a parchment and quill, deciding to write a letter to Andy.
