Harry Potter: Transmigrated Detective Link

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Unlucky Draco

"Huh?" Hearing Lockhart's voice, Draco instinctively let out a sound.

But at this moment, Link had already slowly walked onto the long table under the silent gazes of everyone.

"Good evening, Draco." Link said calmly, yet the corner of his mouth curved into a cruel smile.

In the morning's article, a lot of information had actually been revealed about the interviewed person.

For example, pure-blood lineage, knowing about Link's past as a child, and also, knowing that not long ago Link had just used the Bladder Explosion Spell to attack his classmate, namely, Draco Malfoy.

Of these things, the last one was only known by very few people.

But Link didn't believe that anyone besides Draco himself would have spread this matter. Which meant, the interviewed person in that article was Draco.

"Draco, to be honest, I originally thought an opportunity like this wouldn't come until the summer break,"

Link smiled while pulling out his wand and said, "But it's fine to settle it early. Don't you agree?"

"Lin… Link, I don't understand what you're saying."

Draco stammered, still stepping backwards continuously, looking like he was about to run off the long table.

"No need to say more, Draco. I understand what you mean, I understand all of it. But I think you also need to understand one thing. That is, everyone must take responsibility for their own words and actions." Link said slowly, raising his wand in front of him like a sword.

Seeing this, Draco's face turned even darker, and down below, Lockhart excitedly shouted, "Merlin! What did I just see? That's a dueling stance! Link is formally issuing a duel challenge to Mr. Malfoy! What now? Will Mr. Malfoy accept?"

"This is a wizard's duel! Since ancient times, I've never seen anyone reject a public wizard duel invitation, especially nobles, they value honor more than life!"

Lockhart then changed tone and added, "Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Malfoy did refuse, after all, he has previous experience in this regard, right? Mr. Potter?"

As soon as he said this, laughter erupted even louder from the crowd.

Some people even started singing the song "The Brave Lion and the Fleeing Snake."

This made Draco's face on the stage instantly go pale.

At this point, as the only heir of the Malfoy family,

his self-esteem could no longer allow him to run away again. Clenching his teeth, Draco finally raised his wand.

And on the other side, Link smiled even more brightly.

The two of them slowly approached each other, bowed, then each took steps back, and took up their dueling stances.

"Looks like they're ready! Then let's enjoy this, shall we? 3… 2…" Lockhart said excitedly, and the surrounding crowd followed along in the countdown.

But in the distance, Professor McGonagall had furrowed her brows. She instinctively felt something was off about the way this was unfolding.

What Lockhart was doing didn't seem like holding an open class, instead, it looked like he was deliberately setting Draco up to be humiliated.

But thinking of Lockhart's usual unreliability, Professor McGonagall slowly let go of her worry.

And at that moment, the battle on the long table finally began.

Just as Lockhart's countdown ended, Draco clenched his teeth and suddenly raised his wand.

"Ossio Dispersimus!"

A white beam of light suddenly burst out, firing directly at Link, who hadn't made any move yet.

This sudden ambush caused a burst of gasps from the audience.

But on stage, Link just smiled and shook his head.

"Ossio Dispersimus."

Zing!

Another white beam of light flashed out, and collided directly with Draco's incoming spell.

The two spells exploded in a blast of electrical sparks,

and a searing, metallic noise rang through the air.

"Wow! Mr. Malfoy successfully seized the advantage and launched the first attack! What about Link? Oh, also a Ossio Dispersimus spell? The two spells collided?! Now it's a power struggle! But I don't think much of Mr. Malfoy's chances, his magic power is far weaker than Link's…" Lockhart commentated rapidly like a match announcer.

And just as he was speaking, the battle on the stage unfolded exactly as he described.

Link's hand was glowing brighter with white light, and the midpoint where the two spells clashed was suddenly pushed toward Draco.

The abrupt turn shocked Draco, he shouted, twisted his wand sharply to the side, and barely dodged at the last second.

"A beautiful dodge! I must say, being able to make such a quick response in such a small space is already quite impressive for Mr. Malfoy. Unfortunately…" Lockhart shook his head, not continuing his sentence.

And in truth, there was no need to continue.

Because while Draco was still trying to deal with that Ossio Dispersimus Curse, Link's wand tip had already begun glowing again, and this time, the light was red.

"Expelliarmus."

The red beam tore through the air, emitting sharp screeching sounds, and at the same time drawing a bright red streak across everyone's vision.

Panicked, Draco quickly raised a Shield Charm again, but clearly, he had forgotten how he was defeated last time.

The familiar scene repeated.

Link's Disarming spell, like a sniper bullet, instantly pierced through the thin, translucent shield, hitting Draco directly in the chest at full speed.

Boom!

Red light flared. Draco's entire body was blasted into the air, flying toward the crowd below.

Originally, this wouldn't have been too bad, after all, landing among the crowd meant there would be someone to cushion him.

Unfortunately, the audience wasn't very sympathetic to Draco. Or maybe it was just instinct, because just as Draco was about to land, the people under him had already scattered away in an instant.

Thud!

Draco's face slammed hard against the solid floor, producing a dull sound.

"Our Mr. Malfoy has just been blasted away by Link with a single Disarming Charm! Students, this is what I wanted you to see! Sometimes you mustn't put blind faith in protective spells like Shield spell, under overwhelming magical power, even a Disarming spell, which is normally countered by such shields, can easily break through your defenses!" Lockhart announced excitedly, as if he was the biggest winner.

But at this point, no one cared what he was saying anymore.

The crowd that had previously scattered quickly gathered again, pointing and laughing at the fallen Draco on the ground.

"Get away! Go away! Don't look at me!" Draco whimpered, flailing his limbs in an attempt to get up.

But just then, a new change appeared on his body.

Poof!

With a strange noise, a rabbit ear suddenly popped out from the top of Draco's head.
