Harry Potter -Blood legacy

Chapter 25: ch-25

Tony's words were overheard by the surrounding Ravenclaw students.

However, the research on "inhuman-type demon phantoms" was far too obscure, so no one could refute or add to Tony's explanation.

And so... Tony once again successfully showed off.

It felt even better!

Ravenclaw students were intelligent, and Tony knew that simply mentioning something could spark countless questions from them.

Previously, everyone had assumed Peeves was a ghost. Yet, unlike ghosts, Peeves could interact with physical objects—like the dungbombs that the prefect was now carefully collecting.

A prankster? This truly seemed to be the perfect label for Peeves!

Naturally mischievous!

Tony wasn't finished yet. "Because troublemakers like Peeves are a peculiar natural phenomenon, Muggles rarely see them clearly," he explained, gesturing as he spoke.

"Many of the world's most famous Muggle circuses and haunted houses are their birthplaces.

"Circuses bring joy to people, and that joy can create troublemakers. Just think about it—isn't Peeves like a clown?"

"And haunted houses? Even if there are ghosts, Muggles can't see them. But they scare themselves. If just one or two people frighten themselves, it's fine. But when fear aggregates among a crowd, it gives birth to Boggarts."

Tony was now fully immersed in showing off his "erudition." In Ravenclaw, knowledge was respected above all else. Tony noticed the approving glances from the older students—validation of his intelligence.

Though... now he had run out of things to say.

After the encounter with Peeves, it was finally time to head to the Ravenclaw dormitory.

Hogwarts Castle had three tall towers.

The first was the Astronomy Tower, where third-year students and above attended astronomy classes—widely considered as dull as History of Magic.

The second was the Gryffindor common room and dormitory.

The third was the Ravenclaw common room and dormitory.

Unlike the other houses, Ravenclaw students could only enter their common room after correctly answering a riddle posed by the eagle-shaped bronze door knocker.

If you answered correctly, you could enter—whether you were a Ravenclaw student or not.

If you answered incorrectly, even the prefect wouldn't be able to open the door. The male prefect explained this as they stood before the door knocker.

"Ravenclaw values knowledge," he said.

No one really knew how the bronze eagle knew so many tricky questions. Even though it only asked one riddle per day, no one had ever heard the same question twice.

Because there was only one riddle per day, if a student couldn't answer it, they simply had to wait for others to figure it out together. It wasn't unusual to see dozens of students brainstorming outside the Ravenclaw door.

When someone finally solved the riddle, it meant everyone had learned something new.

Progress!

Learning and growing every day.

That day's riddle had already been solved earlier by senior students, so the first-years had an opportunity to try it themselves.

The male prefect knocked on the bronze door knocker, and the eagle came to life, spreading its sharp wings.

"What is it that the more you take away, the bigger it gets?"

A simple question.

Tony immediately knew the answer—it was a straightforward cognitive riddle.

However, he decided to let the others try first.

In the end, only the ten Ravenclaw first-years remained outside the door.

Tony snapped his fingers. "Alright, everyone, I've already figured it out. Do you want me to tell you?"

"No!" chorused the other nine students, including Cho Chang and Marcus. They had already started developing their Ravenclaw pride.

Tony shrugged, walked up to the door knocker, and said confidently, "Space."

The door creaked open.

Inside, the male prefect looked surprised. "Lestrange, you—"

"Sorry, prefect, we're not done yet. Please wait!" Blaude interrupted quickly and shut the door.

Turning back to the group, Tony asked, "Alright, has anyone else figured it out? You can tell me."

"Me!" A boy raised his hand eagerly.

The boy's name was Eddie Carmichael.

Out of the ten Ravenclaw first-years, only three were boys: Tony, Marcus, and Eddie.

Tony was pleasantly surprised. At least Eddie wasn't a fool who had been sorted into Ravenclaw by accident.

Eddie whispered, "A hole!"

Though the word was different, the meaning was the same as Tony's answer.

The "bigger" after "taking it away" didn't necessarily refer to volume—it was a simple conceptual trap.

Tony encouraged Eddie to try, and the door opened once more.

A simple question indeed!

Although the prefect had intended for the first-years to answer the riddle collectively, Tony had subtly turned it into an individual challenge. He believed that while collective wisdom was valuable, cultivating individual critical thinking was just as important.

Otherwise, even in the pursuit of knowledge, some might end up merely "following the crowd." That wouldn't foster real growth.

"Ladies, has none of you thought of the answer yet?" Tony teased the girls.

"Hmph!" The seven girls all huffed in unison, clearly annoyed.

One by one, the freshmen who had thought of similar answers passed the test.

Cho Chang was among the first to succeed.

"Marcus, are you going to embarrass us boys?" Tony taunted, smirking at Marcus.

Marcus froze, sweating profusely, while the remaining girls solved the riddle and entered the common room.

Finally, Marcus "collapsed" dramatically on the floor.

"Wow... looks like I've beaten you," Tony teased.

Drawing his wand, Tony conjured an image of an empty bookshelf.

Even though Marcus was the last, he wasn't completely hopeless. The bookshelf seemed to spark an idea.

"Space! It's space!" Marcus shouted triumphantly.

But instead of cheers, he was greeted with a fudge tossed straight into his mouth.

"Cough, what is—ah! It's spicy!"

Black smoke began pouring from Marcus's ears, and the sound of a train whistle echoed through the hallway.

It was Train Fudge.

A fitting punishment!
