Chapter 298: Chapter 298 Changes
Seeing the Aura fluctuations emitted by Dove, Kuro immediately turned around and ran away without hesitation. His Aura was used sparingly, so how could he possibly waste it on a Nen User who seemed to be quite powerful?
Not to mention that he himself was unwilling to do so, even if Law ordered him to take out Dove, he wouldn't follow through.
Even though he took advantage of the situation to kill more than 500 prison guards and prisoners today, causing more than 500 pages of Law's book to be black, his Aura hadn't increased yet. And he had to return to Law's side to receive his 'payment'.
"That girl looks like she's in bad shape, and that guy in the white coat doesn't look like someone to mess with."
Kuro headed straight toward Law's location. One of the perks of splitting up was that they could sense each other's positions at any time.
In that quick glance just now, he had roughly gauged Sanbica's situation. The fluctuation of her Aura was like a dying candle in the wind, and her mask was soaked in dark, dried blood.
"More than 500 pages… once I get back, I should be able to claim about eighty percent of the Aura from Law."
"You can't blame me for this. The rules are absolute. Of course, if I didn't get close to you, I wouldn't have to collect it just yet."
"But if I don't get you here fast, that girl's not going to make it."
"With things as they are, you can't really blame me, can you?"
Muttering to himself while dashing at high speed, Kuro wore a sinister, human-like grin on his pitch-black feline face.
If his current level was Lv1, then absorbing eighty percent of Law's Nen would push him to at least Lv5, which is roughly a fivefold power boost.
Less than five minutes later, Kuro arrived at Law's side.
It was a room resembling a factory floor. The first level was a wide-open hall, while the second level consisted of metal walkways built along the walls, crisscrossing through the air.
This was an indoor space where prisoners could move freely, while the walkways above were for the guards.
Law stood on the ground floor, while the guards occupied the high ground, forming a web of encirclement. However, the guns posed no threat to Law, and everything they did was in vain.
There were gunshots, screams, and the sound of bodies falling to the ground.
The guards summoned to the scene represented almost all the remaining combat power the prison had. But here, they were reduced to over two hundred corpses.
Generally speaking, when faced with a tough guy who cannot be defeated no matter how hard one tries, the will to fight will gradually fade, and one may begin to think about retreating.
However, this group of prison guards showed no signs of retreating, and instead fought more and more fiercely.
Unfortunately for them, they couldn't even lay a finger on Law. In fact, many were killed by their own bullets.
Bang! Bang...!
Another batch of corpses fell from the steel walkways above, hitting the ground with a sickening crash.
The entire factory floor was littered with bodies, blood flowing like rivers, and the air reeked of iron and death.
Tap tap!
The sound of orderly footsteps came from the high corridor, and group of guards with grim expressions charged out, once again lifting their firearms.
Kuro glanced at the nearly thirty guards sprinting out along the metal walkway. Then, with a cold smirk, he leapt into the air like a bolt of lightning and pounced.
With just a few swipes of his claws, he killed the thirty prison guards easily, like slicing through paper, and then leisurely returned to Law's side.
"Found her. She's still alive, but it doesn't look good." Kuro stared at Law, who stood exuding a chilling aura of unmatched intensity. A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes, followed by a knowing smirk.
He could sense Law's overwhelming killing intent, and seemed to realize why Law hadn't moved from this spot, simply waiting for all his enemies to come to him.
'So, he intended to… wipe out everyone in the prison?'
'Heh... now that's more like it!'
Hearing Kuro's words, Law's expression changed slightly, and the cold Aura emanating from his body was restrained for the most part.
'Sanbica is still alive... That short-haired woman really wanted to provoke me and disrupt my emotions before she died.'
'I originally wanted to clear out all the obstacles before turning the place upside down. But now… there is no need for that.'
"Take me there."
Law first cast a cold glance over the corpses littering the floor, then looked up toward the passage above. He knew that there were at least twenty Nen Users there waiting for their chance to act. He also knew exactly why the enemy had sent waves of ordinary guards to surround him.
But it doesn't matter. If they wanted to drain his Aura, then so be it. If they wanted to gather information on his Nen Abilities, they could have it.
Either way, anyone who got in his way would be dealt with mercilessly.
Kuro raised a paw and smiled, "No problem. But first, I have to follow the rules."
As soon as he finished speaking, Law's eyes turned slightly cold. He noticed that the Aura in his body surged uncontrollably toward Kuro's paw and quickly condensed into a ball of Aura with astonishing power.
In just a moment, the abundant Aura in his body was reduced to less than 30%.
'The book pages...'
Law instantly understood the cause. He watched calmly as Kuro swallowed the ball of Aura, but remained calm.
At a time like this, losing nearly seventy percent of his Aura to Kuro was definitely a disadvantage when it came to rescuing Sanbica. However, he could still make use of their life-linked bond to command Kuro to eliminate threats on his behalf.
However, the timing of Kuro's little 'harvest' definitely irritated him.
"Lead the way quickly." Law stared at Kuro calmly.
"…"
Kuro felt fully satisfied after devouring the ball of Aura. He had expected Law to blow up with rage, maybe even shout and curse… but instead, Law remained as calm as ever.
Law's calm attitude and tone suddenly felt like a thorn lodged in Kuro's chest.
'This isn't right. Law should be furious right now. He should at least scold me for choosing this exact moment to snatch his Aura. Sure, I could respond with some lofty 'rules are rules' excuse, but Law probably wouldn't buy it.'
Kuro had braced himself for a verbal onslaught, maybe even a few death glares, but the complete lack of response from Law left him feeling uneasy instead.
"You're just going to ignore that bunch still hiding up there?" Kuro asked cautiously, stealing a glance at the eerily calm Law before sprinting toward the exit.
Law silently followed behind him without saying a word. That quiet attitude made Kuro's heart beat fast and he felt very uncomfortable.
'Damn, what the hell is with this guy?'
Kuro couldn't stop the thought from forming.
The two of them ignored the next wave of charging guards and even the Nen Users lurking in the shadows, and then ran away right under their noses.
A moment ago, Law had been radiating killing intent, standing his ground like he was ready to take on the whole prison. But now, he suddenly ran away.
The remnants of the Seirin Group hiding nearby were caught completely off guard by this. By the time they realized what was happening, Law and Kuro were already vanishing down the corridor.
They immediately gave chase, but quickly discovered they couldn't keep up. Law and Kuro were just too fast, and they could only trail distantly behind.
With Kuro leading the way, Law soon arrived at the old prison block where Sambika was being held.
In the wide, long corridor, he saw Dove in his white lab coat, and Sanbica, who is locked inside a glass cell.
The moment they saw each other, Law moved first. He seemed to ignore Dove's existence and went straight to where Sanbica was.
Dove looked at Law coldly, his Aura surging all over his body. In a flash, he reached Law's side and swung a punch.
Facing this punch, Law didn't even glance at it, and there was no sign of him using Ryu.
Right in front of Dove, he shattered the glass to create a hole large enough for someone to pass through.
'Courting death.' Dove thought coldly.
'Damn it!'
Kuro, who was with Law, cursed in his heart.
He finally understood what Law was planning!
