Chapter 52: Goku's Daily Life
With Gohan now busy attending high school in Satan City, the Son family settled into a new rhythm.
Goku, ever the devoted father and martial artist, took it upon himself to train Goten, introducing him to the fundamentals of martial arts in a light and fun manner. Goten, with his natural talent and boundless energy, proved to be a quick learner, much like his older brother. Often, their backyard echoed with the playful sound of sparring matches, laughter, and the occasional explosion that made Chichi yell from the kitchen.
When Goten visited Capsule Corp to hang out with Trunks, it gave Goku and Chichi rare moments to themselves. They used those times for quiet walks, picnics on scenic cliffs, or enjoying noodle stalls in small towns. It was a sweet and surprisingly romantic side of Goku that only Chichi truly got to see—when his world wasn't consumed by training or saving the Earth.
But Goku's presence wasn't just missed at home. Despite the world being at peace, many warriors found themselves at a plateau in their growth. Piccolo, seeking new insight, would often meditate alongside Goku or challenge him to silent, intense battles under the sun. The other Saiyans—Vegeta, Raditz, and even Nappa—took turns sparring with him. Raditz especially seemed to enjoy the camaraderie, still amazed at how far his little brother had come.
On some days, the android trio arrived—Android 18 dragging a hesitant Krillin along, while 17 occasionally challenged Goku directly, curious to test his evolving strength. Android 16, though mostly pacifistic, joined for observation and often meditated beside Goku or Piccolo, finding peace in the quiet mountains of Mount Paozu.
Despite all the training and sparring, Goku never let it get in the way of family. When Gohan is home for weekends, the Son household was full of chatter, shared meals, and enthusiastic retellings of school stories, martial arts techniques, and world affairs.
Even though Goku was Earth's strongest, he was now more than just a warrior. He was a teacher, a husband, a father, and a friend—balancing all roles with the same wide-eyed spirit that had once taken off on Nimbus to seek adventure.
The Weekend where Legends are made
It was an unusually quiet weekend at the Son household.
With school on break, Gohan stayed at home—books set aside, uniform neatly folded—ready to dive back into training. Goku greeted him with a smile and a sparkle of excitement in his eyes. He had recently noticed Gohan's bottleneck towards a new form of power, that is why it was time to use his personal Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Inside, the air was dense and pure. The ground stretched endlessly, clouds drifting across a blank, white horizon. Here, there were no distractions—just time, gravity, and the pursuit of power.
For the first time in a long while, Gohan let go. He fought at full strength, not holding back, not pretending to be the mild-mannered student of Orange Star High. Goku pushed him harder than ever—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Their clashes shook the heavens within the chamber. Every blast, every scream of effort echoed for miles. As the training neared its final stretch, Gohan felt it—a roaring energy deep within his core, more primal and focused than ever before.
With a mighty cry, golden lightning surged around him. His hair shot down his back, his brows vanished, and the sheer force of his aura carved lines into the ground.
Gohan had ascended. He had become a Super Saiyan 3.
Goku stood back, stunned with pride and awe. "You did it, Gohan… You really did it."
When they emerged from the chamber, only a 4 hours of the day had passed. But both carried the weight of 1-2 months worth of battles. Gohan, though tired, radiated strength and confidence.
News of his transformation didn't stay secret for long.
Word spread quickly among the Saiyan circle.
Vegeta, ever proud and driven, was the first to arrive at Mount Paozu. "So… the boy has surpassed even the limits of a Super Saiyan 2?" he muttered with his arms crossed.
Nappa and Raditz followed shortly. None of them wasted time. With Goku sparring each of them, teaching them how he first unlocked Super Saiyan 3, the training began.
Through sheer determination and Saiyan pride, Nappa and Raditz broke through their limits, both achieving Super Saiyan 2 after intense duels with Goku and Gohan.
But Vegeta was different. He was already there he could feel it. He just needed a push.
And so he did, he pushed himself farther, grinding his body and Ki to the edge of collapse. And at long last—through battle cries and unmatched will—Vegeta attained Super Saiyan 3.
Yet as the energy surged around him, his face remained unimpressed.
"Hmph," he scoffed, feeling the strain on his stamina. "Too inefficient. Power is meaningless if you can't maintain it. I'll refine Super Saiyan 2 to its perfect form… my form."
Goku chuckled. "Heh, that's so like you, Vegeta."
The mountains bore witness to the Saiyan roars echoing across the skies. The Earth trembled under the combined strength of these warriors.
The legends of old were no longer tales of a faraway race—they were being rewritten right here, on Earth, in the hearts and fists of its defenders.
Next Day - Mount Paozu
It had been a day since Gohan had unlocked Super Saiyan 3. Word had spread not only to the Saiyans but to the rest of the Z Fighters, igniting a fire in each of them.
Future Trunks arrived first. He had sensed the spike in power from across the world and didn't hesitate.
"Gohan's done it, huh?" he said with a small smile. "Super Saiyan 3? incredible."
Determined not to be left behind, Trunks immediately joined the training alongside Vegeta, Gohan, and Goku. After days of relentless effort and sparring against his Uncle Nappa, and even Raditz, in the Time Chamber he finally reached that shimmering threshold: Super Saiyan 2.
Lightning crackled around his golden hair as he floated, breath heavy, a confident smirk on his lips. "I'm catching up."
Vegeta gave a faint nod. "Good. Then prove it."
Elsewhere in the Time Chamber, the Earth warriors had banded together under Piccolo's guidance. Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, and even Chiaotzu had stepped forward, spurred by the surge in energy that surrounded them daily.
"Even if we can't become Super Saiyans," Piccolo said, arms crossed, "we're still warriors. And I don't plan on sitting idle."
They trained with ferocity—sharpening instincts, speed, and control. With Goku's help and King Kai's remote guidance, each of them pushed Kaioken past its previously assumed limits.
It was Tien who broke through first, his third eye gleaming, muscles exploding with red aura. "Kaio-ken... times 50!" he shouted, his voice shaking the ground. BOOM!
Yamcha, not far behind, grinned through the pain. "Guess I'm not done being relevant yet!"
Krillin, always underestimated, wore a serious look as his aura pulsed violently around him. "If I'm going to protect my family, I'll push beyond what I thought was possible." His x50 Kaioken left a crater with every step.
Even Piccolo, meditative and focused, managed to master the x50 variant. "Not bad... for a Namekian," he muttered with a smirk.
In the background, the support squad made the whole thing possible. Bulma had erected medical pods and scanners, analyzing each fighter's stress levels and recovery time. Chichi cooked large batches of high-protein meals. Master Roshi, though refusing to fight, oversaw ki control meditations and handed out wise—if pervy—remarks. Chiaotzu, though unable to match their level, lent support with telekinesis and mid-battle interference.
The backbone of Earth's defense was built on more than just fists—it was also hearts, food, science, and healing.
Meanwhile, Present Trunks and Goten—eager and hyper as ever—were doing laps around the training field in their Super Saiyan forms.
"Hold it steady!" Goten shouted, his energy flickering like a flame.
"I am!" Trunks grunted. "I just—AH!"
They collided mid-air and landed in a puff of smoke. Still, they were laughing. Under Gohan's tutelage, both boys had begun refining their forms—learning how to sustain them without fatigue.
"You'll master it soon," Gohan said with a kind smile, helping them up. "You both have what it takes."
The atmosphere inside Goku's personal Hyperbolic Time Chamber was heavy with excitement and tension. A place where time bent to will and gravity could be adjusted to forge warriors of legend. Inside this vast white void, surrounded by towering pillars and echoing silence, stood Earth's mightiest warriors — all gathered for a single purpose:
To take down Son Goku.
Gohan, his eyes glowing with the primal force of Super Saiyan 3, stepped forward beside Vegeta, who crackled with the same overwhelming energy. Behind them stood Piccolo, shrouded in red as he channeled Kaioken x50, muscles straining under the intense multiplier. The rest followed in kind — Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin had pushed themselves to match the same red aura, their bodies already showing signs of fatigue from channeling such power. Future Trunks, Raditz, and Nappa were blazing in golden light — each having broken past Super Saiyan 2 through sheer determination.
Present Trunks and Goten stood nearby, glowing with stable Super Saiyan energy but staying back to watch — their eyes wide with awe.
Goku, however, stood calmly in the center of the field. His orange gi barely moved, his arms crossed, the only aura surrounding him was his natural presence — relaxed and casual.
"Are you seriously not going to transform?" Piccolo asked, his brows furrowed in disbelief.
Goku chuckled. "You're all strong now. Way stronger than before… but I'll stick with base form. Let's see how much you've grown!"
Vegeta's face twitched. "You arrogant clown… don't blame me when I wipe that smirk off your face."
"Ready when you are," Goku smiled.
The ground cracked under the pressure as the group charged in unison.
Tien and Yamcha flanked from the sides, fists blazing. Goku dodged with minimal movement — sidestepping Tien's punch and catching Yamcha's strike with one hand. He twisted, launching Yamcha into the air with a light tap of his foot, and delivered a palm strike to Tien's chest that sent him skidding across the chamber.
Krillin came in with a flurry of Destructo Disks. Goku backflipped, letting the glowing energy blades pass beneath him before flickering behind Krillin in an instant.
"Too slow," Goku whispered before tapping him on the shoulder.
Krillin froze, groaned, and dropped to his knees. "Still… so fast…"
Future Trunks and Raditz leaped in with Super Saiyan 2 roaring in unison. Lightning danced across their forms as they struck from opposite angles.
Trunks came down with his sword, only for Goku to catch the blade between two fingers. "Nice Swordsmanship Trunks," Goku said, gently twisting the sword out of Trunks' hand and tossing it aside.
Raditz howled, trying to distract Goku with a flurry of rapid strikes. Goku moved like water, dodging each hit, then spun low and swept Raditz's legs before launching him upward with a casual punch to the gut.
Nappa tried to capitalize with a double axe-handle strike from above, but Goku caught it overhead and tossed him like a sack of potatoes into Trunks mid-air, both slamming into a pillar.
"Fine," Piccolo growled, veins bulging with Kaioken x50. "I'll show you how far Namekian potential can go!"
With a battle cry, he unleashed a barrage of ki blasts that filled the chamber with brilliant light. Goku deflected each one effortlessly, dancing between explosions. Piccolo appeared behind him and fired a point-blank Special Beam Cannon, but Goku tilted his head just enough for it to barely miss.
Then, with a sudden burst, Goku vanished from sight and appeared behind Piccolo.
"Still predictable, Piccolo."
He delivered a light chop to the back of the neck, and Piccolo collapsed, his aura fading as he groaned.
Now only two warriors remained standing — both cloaked in Super Saiyan 3's fierce golden tempest.
"You ready, Dad?" Gohan asked, serious.
Goku grinned. "Let's go, son."
Vegeta didn't wait for the go-signal. He blitzed forward with a punch that shook the chamber. Goku caught it cleanly. Gohan followed up from behind, managing to graze Goku's cheek with a knee strike.
"Oh man! You actually got me." Goku laughed. Still holding back a lot, he could finish this at his base, but he didn't want to demotivate them.
They attacked in tandem — Gohan's style fluid, a mixture of Piccolo's form and Goku's instinct, while Vegeta was relentless and brutal, his attacks forged in pride and wrath.
For a moment, it seemed like Goku was on the backfoot. But then he took a deep breath.
"Okay. Super Saiyan… just a little."
With a simple pulse of golden light, Goku's hair shifted upward, his eyes turned teal — Super Saiyan.
The gravity of the chamber trembled under the pressure.
"Let's finish this."
In that instant, Goku exploded with speed. He appeared before Vegeta, elbowed him in the gut, spun, and knocked him away with a backhand. He ducked under Gohan's follow-up strike and lifted his son into the air with a rising uppercut.
They both hit the ground moments later, panting.
Everyone lay strewn across the floor, groaning and panting. Even Vegeta, normally full of pride, was gasping with widened eyes.
"I… don't understand," he muttered. "Even when we train to the brink… he still outclasses us… in just Super Saiyan?"
Gohan chuckled between breaths. "Dad… you're unbelievable."
Goku landed softly near them, his golden aura fading as he returned to base form.
He rubbed the back of his head, smiling sheepishly. "You guys are amazing. I really had to pay attention this time."
Piccolo chuckled. "If that's you paying attention… we're doomed if you ever get serious."
Everyone laughed — even Vegeta, though he muttered something about "damned Kakarot" under his breath.
From the sideline, Goten and Present Trunks clapped in excitement, their eyes sparkling with determination.
"I wanna be like Dad someday!" Goten beamed.
"Yeah! but I'll surpass him" Trunks added, fist clenched. "Time to start training harder."
The dust from their all-out sparring session still clung faintly to the stone floor of Goku's personal Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Despite the timelessness of the space, the fighters felt the weight of their exhaustion settle in their bones. Every muscle ached, every breath felt like fire in their lungs, but there was a strange satisfaction in the air — a silent acknowledgment of growth, even in the face of overwhelming defeat.
As the group gathered near the central resting area — a wide open zone with mats and supplies brought by Chi-Chi and Bulma — a calm silence washed over them. Goku stood off to the side, casually sipping on a bottle of water, his gi lightly singed but otherwise untouched. He wore a small, sheepish grin as he glanced at his fallen comrades, a silent apology mixed with pride.
Vegeta sat cross-legged, his chest heaving as he wiped the sweat from his brow. "Kakarot… you really are a monster," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else. "Even when you're holding back…"
Gohan, bruised but smiling, nodded in agreement. "I thought we had him that time. I really did."
Piccolo chuckled under his breath. "He was toying with us. I could feel it. Still… it's amazing how far we've come."
Krillin, laying on his back with a bag of ice pressed to his forehead, added with a small laugh, "You'd think after all these years, we'd catch up just a little."
"Speak for yourself," Yamcha groaned, nursing a sore arm. "I was feeling good until he sent me flying halfway across the chamber…"
"Yeah, well, at least we didn't die this time," Tien muttered dryly, sitting beside Chiaotzu, who was gently massaging his shoulder.
There was a moment of quiet as they all shared a tired laugh — a moment of camaraderie forged through battle.
Krillin then broke the silence again, his tone a little softer. "You know… I kinda miss having 18 here. She would've probably outlasted half of us."
Yamcha raised a brow. "Where is she, anyway? I figured with 17 not around, she'd want to jump in."
"She wanted to, actually," Krillin replied, sitting up. "But 17's wife is about to give birth. She's been helping out around the house, taking care of things so 17 can be by her side. He didn't want to leave either — too important, you know?"
"That's admirable," Gohan said with a warm nod. "Family comes first."
Krillin nodded. "Yeah. And get this — 16's actually filling in for 17's job as a ranger."
Goku blinked. "Really? 16, a forest ranger?"
"Yup," Krillin confirmed. "He said it's peaceful work. Keeps him close to nature. He seems… happy."
Piccolo gave a small smile. "I'm glad for them. They deserve that peace."
Chi-Chi, nearby with Bulma, handed Goku a towel and gestured for everyone to gather around for a meal. "Alright, you warriors, get over here. You all need to eat — especially after that beating Goku gave you!"
Bulma chimed in playfully, "And don't pretend you're too proud to eat, Vegeta. You still burn energy like a furnace."
With a reluctant grunt, Vegeta joined the group, taking his place beside Trunks and Goten, who had been watching with wide eyes.
Goten tugged on his father's sleeve. "Dad… will I ever be strong like you?"
Goku crouched down, ruffling his hair with a warm smile. "Of course, Goten. You're already strong — you just need time, training, and a big heart."
Trunks crossed his arms, glancing sideways at his father. "I want to beat you someday, Papa."
Vegeta scoffed but smirked. "Then get stronger. I won't hold back."
As the group dug into their meal, the atmosphere shifted. It wasn't just about power anymore. Each of them, despite their differences, had come together for something greater — to improve, to support each other, and to face whatever new threats may come.
As they ate, their talk drifted to future training plans, improvements, and dreams.
"I'm gonna focus on refining Super Saiyan 2," Vegeta said, mostly to himself. "It's more efficient. Super Saiyan 3 drains too much energy."
Gohan nodded. "I'll train with you. I want to master the form. I feel like there's still more I can push out of it."
Piccolo, sipping water quietly, added, "And I'm going to combine Kaioken with my Namekian physiology more carefully. There's potential there — I can feel it."
Yamcha raised his cup. "To pushing our limits."
"To surpassing them," Tien echoed.
"To family, friends… and food," Krillin grinned.
Everyone laughed, the tension easing completely. Goku smiled quietly to himself, his gaze distant for a moment.
He thought about what lay ahead — peace, yes, but peace never lasted forever. Still, seeing everyone grow and push themselves brought a warmth to his heart.
The path ahead would not be easy.
But with these people by his side?
He welcomed it.
And deep in his heart, he knew…
This was only the beginning of a new chapter in their journey.
