Global Beast God; I Earn 10X My Summons Powers

Chapter 5: Awakening Ceremony

"This world… it stopped being a place for the weak."—Kieran Marcoth

How did it all begin?

It began with him—the Celestial Ruler, Orion.

The day he appeared, the sky itself seemed to tremble.

His overwhelming presence sent shivers down every spine, a suffocating pressure that weighed on the world like the hand of a god.

No words were spoken.

No declarations made.

He simply hovered above, his silence heavier than any voice could have been.

And yet, every living soul felt the same chilling truth deep within: this was no savior.

This was the end.

Retribution.

And as if their unspoken fears gave it form—it happened.

The skies split.

Rifts—Realm Gates—tore open across the earth, vomiting horrors from the abyss.

In an instant, the world changed.

No one ever saw Orion again.

No explanations. No mercy.

Only terror.

Monsters unlike anything humanity had ever imagined poured through the rifts—beasts torn from nightmare, demons driven by endless hunger.

Cities burned.

Nations fell.

Hope faded to a dying whisper.

Bullets? Worthless.

Tanks? Flattened like paper.

Bombs? The creatures walked through fire unscathed.

It was as if the laws of reality had been rewritten—humanity thrown into a living nightmare where fairy tales and myths were no longer stories… but survival.

And just when all seemed truly lost—

Something changed.

A spark.

A flicker of defiance.

Some humans awakened.

No one knew how. No one knew why. But it happened.

They gained powers that defied reason—strength that could shatter mountains, speed that blurred beyond sight, magic that bent the very fabric of the world.

It didn't matter where the power came from.

It was hope.

The only hope they had left.

Orion had vanished, but in his absence, something had been left behind:

The Age of Awakenings.

And today—on his eighteenth birthday—Kieran Marcoth was about to discover if he, too, had been chosen.

He walked the cracked stone path leading to the academy hall, hands buried deep in his pockets, raven-black hair shadowing his sharp, haunted eyes.

He clenched his fists tightly, his heart pounding with anticipation.

He had waited so long for this moment.

"I've worked so hard for this… I've done everything I could. I just pray fate is kind to me,"

Kieran muttered under his breath, his eyes fixed on the entrance of the academy hall.

But then—his gaze darkened.

His chest tightened.

And his thoughts railed.

'It's been years since that day… but it still haunts me.'

---

A memory flashed.

The night everything changed.

The night that carved scars into his heart.

The air had been cold—unnaturally cold.

He could still remember the way it bit into his skin.

He stood frozen in place, face to face with a nightmare made flesh.

A hulking monster, its massive form covered in jagged, rocky scales.

Crimson-red eyes glowed with pure bloodlust, locking onto him like a predator savoring its prey.

Kieran's eyes trembled as he took in the scene around him.

The outlands—once alive with voices—had been reduced to ruin.

The earth was soaked in crimson.

The sky wept, as if mourning the countless lives lost that night.

And in the middle of it all, there he stood—a small boy.

Helpless. Terrified. Shivering as he clutched his trembling hands to his chest.

There was nowhere to run.

Even if he tried, his frail legs would never carry him far enough.

All he could do was watch in horror as the monster closed in, step by step.

But then—

Just when despair had rooted itself fully in his heart—

The beast's head suddenly tumbled from its shoulders.

Its monstrous body crumpled lifelessly to the blood-soaked ground.

And that was the night—

The night Kieran made a silent vow to himself.

A vow that burned deeper than fear.

---

Kieran's eyes hardened.

His fingers curled into fists once more.

'After today… once I awaken my abilities… I'll finally be strong enough to hunt those monsters. And I'll prove him wrong.'

Excitement buzzed through Kieran's veins, his eyes shining with purpose.

But then—

A familiar voice sliced through his thoughts like a blade.

"Well, well… look who it is—Kieran. I guess today's the day I finally get to put you in your place."

Kieran exhaled softly, his expression barely changing as he turned his head slightly.

He didn't even need to look to recognize that voice.

Frank. Again.

A member of one of the Origin Families—not just any member, but one from the inner circle.

Prestigious. Arrogant. Entitled.

They had been rivals for years, constantly neck and neck for the title of best student in the academy.

But it was Kieran who always came out on top.

While others spent their time chasing status or social clout, Kieran had devoted every second to sharpening himself. To surviving. To getting stronger.

He wasn't popular.

He wasn't flashy.

It had always been just him—his determination and his books.

And Frank?

Frank had tried everything to surpass him, but time after time, he failed.

Each loss chipped away at his pride until the rivalry became personal—obsessive even.

And now, the Awakening Ceremony would draw the final line.

A test that no amount of words or wealth could sway.

The real measure of power.

Kieran's gaze shifted, cool and steady, his eyes narrowing slightly to see the blonde haired figure.

"Frank," he said quietly, his voice calm—steel beneath silk. "Still running your mouth? Let's see how confident you are after the awakening. I wonder what your family head will think when you fail."

Frank's smirk twitched, the muscles in his jaw tightening. His fists clenched at his sides.

"How dare you speak to the next heir of the Nelkon family like that?!" one of the boys beside Frank snapped, his voice sharp with indignation. "Know your place, you little brat!"

Kieran's eyes flicked toward the newcomers. He hadn't paid them much attention at first, but now he recognized them instantly.

'Aren't these two from the previous batch who just awakened?' he thought, frowning slightly.

The two boys stepped forward, cracking their knuckles, grins stretching across their faces like hyenas closing in on prey.

"I think someone needs to teach you a lesson," one of them muttered darkly.

Kieran exhaled sharply through his nose, the corner of his mouth twitching into a dry smile. He lifted his eyes back to Frank.

"And I'm guessing you won't stop them, will you?" he asked softly, amusement lacing his voice. "Tell me something, Frank—do you ever fight your own battles? Or is hiding behind others the Nelkon family tradition?"

Frank flinched, color rising to his cheeks.

"Shut your damn mouth!" he snapped. "Disrespecting a member of an Origin family—who the hell do you think you are? You think I won't awaken a proper gift? Huh?!"

Kieran tilted his head slightly, his smile widening into something sharp, something dangerous.

"I don't know," he murmured, voice low. "Maybe because your mom slept with so many men she couldn't even remember which one to name you after?"

A dangerous silence followed.

Frank's face turned red, his eyes flaring with fury.

"You son of a—!"

His lackeys moved instantly, fists clenched, teeth bared—ready to strike.

But then—

"Enough."

The single word cut through the tension like a razor.

Everyone froze.

A woman stepped into view, her measured footsteps echoing on the cracked stone path.

Jane Herley.

One of the academy's most feared instructors. She was the school nurse and a very respected teacher within the academy.

Her sharp amber eyes swept over the scene as she took a slow drag from the cigarette dangling from her fingers. The thin curl of smoke twisted lazily into the air as she exhaled.

"Ben. Jacob," she said coolly, her voice soft but cutting. "Didn't you two already complete your awakening? What exactly are you still doing here?"

The two boys exchanged uneasy glances, their bravado crumbling in an instant.

"Uh… we were just escorting our young master," Jacob mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jane didn't blink.

"Escort him out of my sight," she said flatly, her tone leaving no room for argument. "Now."

Without another word, the two lackeys turned on their heels and bolted, their eagerness to disappear almost comical.

Frank, however, hesitated. His fists shook at his sides, his lips pulled into a thin, bitter line.

"And you," Jane added, flicking ash from her cigarette without so much as a glance at him, "how many times do I have to tell you? No lackeys. No private guards. No exceptions. If I see this again, I'll be reporting directly to the Council. Do you understand me, Frank Nelkon?"

Frank swallowed hard, the fire in his eyes dimming under her cold stare.

"…It won't happen again, Miss Jane," he muttered stiffly. "I promise."

He sent one last venomous glare at Kieran before stalking off.

Kieran sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Thanks, Miss Jane. You didn't have to step in."

In all honesty, Kieran was confident in his martial arts technique… but against two Awakeneds, his skills wouldn't do much.

He was practically at their mercy.

Jane smirked. "Didn't I?"

She took another drag from her cigarette, exhaling lazily.

"You've got a big day ahead. No sense starting it with a broken nose."

Kieran's lips curled into a wry smile.

"Big day, huh?" he muttered.

Jane's expression softened.

"You'll do fine, kid. Just go in there and claim your talent. Show them what you're made of. I mean, you've worked for it."

Kieran nodded.

"I will. And then I'll—"

Jane flicked his forehead.

"No. You'll use that talent to fight monsters. Not settle scores. Besides, you've got a really sharp tongue. I won't pretend I didn't hear what you said back there," Jane said with a chuckle.

Kieran grinned sheepishly.

"Right. Demons."

But deep down, his resolve burned.

'I'll still deal with anyone who gets in my way.'

Jane chuckled, motioning toward the academy doors.

"Come on. They've already started. Let's not keep them waiting."

Kieran followed her, his gaze lingering on her strong figure.

Jane was more than a teacher to him. More than a mentor.

She was the only one who had ever been there.

And one day… she wouldn't have to protect him anymore.

He'd make sure of it.

'I'll awaken a good ability, and I'll keep you safe!'
