Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 474: The Event's End

Anastasia had certainly felt Shane's connection to the Fairy Queen before. She detected it not because of the system or because of her position as an Administrator but because of her race…

She had no idea why a human would obtain such a blessing, but she couldn't deny what she had felt. Because of that, she had a favorable view of Shane. She wanted him to really break the record and obtain incredible rewards.

At this time, the administration room was silent.

Anastasia and the other elf administrators watched Shane's battle against the remaining Armored Tyrant King Zombies.

It had been half an hour already. Shane already used his Automated Turret, but it barely lasted for a few seconds as the Armored Tyrants focused on it as soon as it arrived.

It was as if the challenge had become an endurance test against the Zombies that could never get tired at all. Because of this, Shane was visibly reaching his limit.

Thankfully, despite his battered form, he wasn't giving up at all. No matter how many times he had been swatted or thrown by the Armored Tyrant Kings, he was able to stand up again.

Shane seemed to have plenty of elixirs with him that could help him regain his energy.

At this time, his Gale Blade had a few scratches on it, but it was still usable and could cut through the Zombies' flesh.

Of course, Shane's body was also filled with various light injuries, but his Aura Sentinel was helping him to recover.

As the battle continued, his left arm trembled in pain as he used it to block one of the Tyrant King's kicks… His armor was already dented and battered, and blood seeped from a gruesome wound over his right eye, which he could no longer open.

Yet he wasn't losing hope as he looked at the two remaining Armored Tyrant King Zombies. Their massive bodies seemed to be filled with arrogance, seeing how he was already heavily injured.

Seeing that Shane wasn't moving from his spot, the zombies charged together…

Their heavy footsteps shook the ground as they attempted to corner Shane.

One of them swung its colossal, clawed hand in a horizontal sweep while the other prepared a devastating overhead slam.

Well, their bone clubs were already destroyed after the long battle. They could only rely on their bodies to attack him…

Shane seemed to have reacted slowly from the perspective of the viewers but he actually timed his counterattack perfectly.

With Light as Air enhancing his agility, Shane jumped high, spinning mid-air to unleash a Windstrike arc that cut across both zombies' armored torsos.

Clank! Clank!

Sparks flew as the wind energy clashed with their metal-like exoskeletons, but the attack only managed to stagger them.

It wasn't enough to kill the Armored Tyrant Kings.

"He's still going!" gasped one of the elven administrators. "Even after taking so much damage, his accuracy is still incredible."

The two Armored Tyrant Kings adjusted quickly. One of them moved forward in an attempt to grab Shane in mid-air. It managed to graze his right arm!

Its claws tore through Shane's armor and flesh with ease. Shane landed with a heavy grunt, clutching his injured arm, but he didn't plan to give up just yet.

"That's not good," Anastasia muttered, her tone was filled with concern. "He's losing blood fast. He can't keep this up for much longer."

Shane, on the other hand, activated his Adrenaline Surge. Aside from boosting his strength, it was also a Survivor Skill that momentarily dulled his pain and enhanced his reaction speed. It was a perfect skill that could help him move as agilely as possible despite being injured.

Boom!

Shane then ducked under a massive swing from the Armored Tyrant King Zombie and he used his momentum to slide between its legs!

From behind, he slashed at the exposed joint of its knee with the Gale Blade, triggering the Wind Strike that unleashed a razor-sharp wind arc.

The Zombie roared as the attack tore through its leg, causing it to collapse.

"He's taking them apart piece by piece," one elf administrator observed.

"But look at him—he's holding on by a thread." Another commented.

These elf admins seemed to be enjoying this battle as they showed great interest in it. They watched as the second Armored Tyrant zombie didn't give Shane time to breathe.

It charged at him and its claws raked across his right side, sending him crashing into a nearby wall of rubble…

Bam!

Shane coughed violently, and blood stained his lips.

As the Zombie approached him for the finishing blow, Silver, his loyal Metal Slime, expanded and hardened over Shane's torso, forming an impenetrable shield.

Bang!

The claw slammed into Silver's protective barrier, sending shockwaves through the battlefield but leaving Shane unharmed.

Using the opening, Shane activated Vortex Spin, spinning into a whirlwind of slashes that chipped away at the Zombie's armor.

'Ugh… This armor was just too much…' Shane thought.

Despite Shane's best efforts, the battle took a grim turn. One of the zombies managed to grab Shane's right arm during a poorly timed dodge.

With a sickening crunch, it twisted and tore the arm clean off, sending blood spraying into the air.

"Aakk!"

Shane howled in pain as he fell to his knees.

"No!" Anastasia cried, her hands clutching the edge of the observation table.

"He's finished," another elf whispered.

Indeed, Shane was already too disadvantaged. It was certainly a pity that he was about to fail, but he had already achieved so much.

But Shane wasn't done. Clenching the Gale Blade in his remaining hand, he struck once again, triggering his Wind Strike! Shane did this several more times as the wind strike started to accumulate, and soon, it began dislodging parts of the zombies' heavy armor!

This happened so quickly, and as soon as Shane saw an opening, he aimed at the Zombie's now-exposed weak points with his sword!

Thud!

One of the Armored Tyrant King Zombie fell, as its head was severed with Shane's attack… On the other hand, the second Zombie staggered back, disoriented and heavily damaged as its armor was no longer being generated… It seemed as if it had also reached its armor's limit!

Furthermore, the Zombie's limbs were almost severed at this moment, and could not attack Shane anymore.

Because of that, Shane, who could barely stand at this moment, activated his Brawler's Fury…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

His punches had barely any strength to it since he was already weakened. However, with the Brawler's Fury's effect, his ninth punch was still as powerful as ever!

Bang!

Even with a weak punch, the ninth punch of the Brawler's Fury created an explosion and obliterated the creature's chest, sending it crumbling to the ground.

Of course, this wouldn't have happened if the Zombie's armor had regenerated… Thankfully, its armor was no longer there, and it received the full force of its ninth punch!

Shane collapsed to his knees as soon as he killed the Zombie. His body was broken, his right eye swollen shut, and his missing arm looked terrible. Yet he had won.

"Unbelievable," Anastasia muttered as his voice trembled. "He did it. He actually did it."

The observation room erupted into cheers. Elven administrators who had been skeptical of Shane now openly celebrated his victory.

"This is historic," one exclaimed. "We thought no one would survive Level 60 in its first run, yet he managed to do it… He might really clear this Apocalypse!"

"That's true…" another added. "He's proven himself beyond any doubt. Perhaps we won't have to wait for many more years before he could save this world."

Shane had no idea that he was being watched by some elves or other Survivors in the waiting room at all. He was simply happy that he managed to clear the 2nd milestone!

'This is a lot harder than the previous Apocalypses… Tsk…' Shane thought as he recalled that the previous Challenge Events weren't this tough at all.

It seemed that this Zombie Outbreak was really on a different level.

[ Level 61 initiated. Opponents: Five Toxic Zombies. ]

Back in the observation room, Anastasia muttered. "He may lose at the next level, but this is already beyond extraordinary. He's already set a standard, and no one else has come close to matching."

The other elves nodded in agreement.

Their gazes returned to the screen as it was now showing Shane struggling to stand but raising his blade high in order to survive against the Toxic Zombie… He then used his Telekinesis to throw his blade in an attempt to kill the enemies…

However, after the blade struck the neck of his target, the Zombie just grabbed it and didn't let go!

With his level of Telekinesis, he was unable to take it back…

Shane wryly smiled as he already used up all his daggers and bullets. He could probably still fight with his one arm, but unfortunately for him, the Toxic Zombies don't even have to come close to him…

They just continuously released some toxic bile and slowly killed. Well, he may possess some Poison Resistance, but he wasn't immune to it.

It didn't take long before he was defeated…

'Seventy-two hours hadn't passed yet… I wonder what will happen…' Shane thought before his vision went blank…
