Chapter 87: THE DATE HE PROMISED
HI! I'M SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING FOR A WHILE.
BECAUSE OF MY BUSY SCHEDULE, I'M GOING TO UPLOAD A NEW CHAPTER ONCE A WEEK ONLY. SORRY AND THANK YOU FOR READING :')
-Levi POV-
-Chloe's Office-
I just finished the vaccine's first clinical trial, and I headed towards Chloe's office as soon as I finished to see Haruka. He's waiting there.
"Levi. Is everything done already?" Haruka stood up from the couch and walked towards me.
"Yeah. Let's go home, shall we?" I said that to him with a smile.
"You said that like we both live in the same house." He said it while glaring at me.
"Well, I wish I could do that." I said that while winking at him, but then someone interrupted us.
"Levi, I told you to wait at the lab first." Who else? Of course it's Chloe. She's looking at me with an irritable expression.
"I knew this would happen. I told you to follow every procedure." And this time, Haruka's the one glaring at me.
"There's nothing more to do. The injection is done, and I did follow each procedure. What else do you want me to do?" This time, it's my turn to get angry.
"I told you I need to check for the immediate effect first before I can let you go. And you actually need to stay here for hours or maybe a few days for that." Chloe said that, walking towards me, she pushed me down to sit on the couch. She pulled out her stethoscope and everything else to check on my condition.
"I told you I'm fine." I said that as soon as she finished,
"You still need to stay here." She said that while putting away everything on the table.
"What? I never agreed to that, so I won't be staying here." I protested.
"We need to monitor if there are any side effects." Chloe said with a firm tone.
"There will be no side effects, so you can rest assured." I said that confidently.
"Marburg virus is a very dangerous virus, so you shouldn't underestimate it. What will you do if there are side effects that occur later if you're not here? I can only manage the patient here." Chloe said that, trying to threaten me at the same time.
"Don't worry. I don't need you to take care of me. I have Haruka on my side." I said that while looking at Haruka, and he clearly looked surprised.
"I thought you said you didn't want him to be exposed to this." Chloe said that with a smirk.
"Of course, and that's the reason why I won't be having any side effects. Now if you will excuse us, we'll take our leave first." I said that, grabbing Haruka's hand to leave Chloe's office.
"Thank you for today, Miss Boucher." Haruka said that before we left the room.
"You shouldn't leave just like that." Haruka said as we arrived in front of the elevator.
"That's just the way we talk to each other, so don't worry." I said that, pressing the down button of the elevator.
"Still, are you sure you don't want to stay here just in case anything happened?" He asked me softly, as if he was afraid to ask me that.
"I won't be staying here. You know I can't stay at places like this, right? Don't worry, I won't be having any side effects. After all, I'm the strongest Ackerman."
//THE NEXT DAY//
-Levi's House-
"I thought someone told me yesterday that he won't be having any side effects because he's the strongest. And yet, he's lying on the bed here because he's having a slight fever." Haruka said that to me sarcastically. Ugh. I can't believe I'm having side effects right now.
"I didn't expect this to happen either." I said that while glaring at him.
"Tch. Look at you. Levi Ackerman, you may be the strongest in terms of physical strength but not in terms of antibody strength. Well, maybe because you're an Ackerman, you're only having a slight fever. You're lucky it's the weekend." He said that while putting a tray with porridge and water on the side table.
"How am I lucky when everything I planned to do this weekend needs to be cancelled because of this fever." I said that while grumbling.
"Now quit whining and eat. You need to eat the medicine and just rest for today."Haruka said, giving me a bowl of porridge.
"I'll eat if you feed me." I said that, trying to look cute, and I know I failed.
"Try to act like that again, and I will leave. Now, stop talking nonsense and eat." He said that firmly, and I took the bowl from him.
"If I get better by today, let's go out on a date tomorrow." I said that while looking at him.
"I told you to stop talking nonsense and just eat already." He said while glaring.
"Tch."
"Ha. Just rest this weekend. We'll go out together next week. I promise. So, don't say anything and just eat." He said that softly, and I could see his ears turning red. I just stayed silent until he left my room. OMG, he's so cute.

I ended up resting for two days last weekend, but as Haruka promised, we're hanging out today. But what's with this place? A subway station?
"I kept my promise to hang out with you this weekend, but why are you making that face? And I told you to cover your face." Haruka said that while glaring at me. Right. I was wondering why he asked me to wear a mask and sunglasses earlier. I have a bad feeling about this.
"Haru-chan, don't tell me we're going to ride the subway." I looked at him in disbelief, and he just gave me his faint smile.
"Right. You've never ridden one before, right? What? Are you disappointed?" He looked me in the eyes.
"It's not like that. It's just, I didn't expect this, haha." I faked a laugh. Of course, I've never ridden one before. He should know I would never ride one, considering the packed environment in the train. He knows that I prioritize cleanliness.
"Don't worry. There won't be that many people today at this time. We're going to do what both of us want to do today. So, you first. Where do you want to go?" He asked me while walking towards the ticket machine.
"Umm, I was thinking about going to the Palace of Versailles. Can we really go there by subway?" I looked at him with a confused face. Did he really know how to use the subway? He's a spoilt rich kid just like me.
"I know what's inside that smart head of yours right now. We may come from a very rich family, but we're not the same. I prefer living just like an ordinary person more, so I know what I'm doing. Well, we need to take RER Line C to go to the Palace of Versailles. You're lucky we're at the connecting subway station. Let's go." He said that and then grabbed my arm.
"You're lucky there are not many people here. It's been a while since I've ridden this, hahaha." He said that while laughing. I know I said this many times, but wow, he really is pretty.
"Levi!" Haruka's voice startled me.
"Yeah. What happened?" I looked at him in panic.
"Mattaku. Seriously, what are you thinking about? The train is here." He grumbled and pulled me inside the train with him, and we took a seat somewhere not too packed. He's right. There are not many people. Lucky me.
"Is this seat okay for you?" Haruka asked me as soon as we took the seats.
"Yeah. It's not that bad for my first ride." I replied to him with a smile, and it seems he's not mad anymore.
"Well, that's good then. It'll take about 30 minutes to reach our destination from here. So, why the Palace of Versailles?" He asked me, as if he's trying to start a conversation along the journey.
"Well, you could say it could benefit me as an artist later." I'm not lying, by the way. That's the truth.
"I figured that much. I heard people go there during spring. Maybe that's the reason why it's not that crowded here." He keeps talking, which makes him look cuter.
"Well, maybe that's because of the garden. The flowers at the garden bloom make it more romantic. We should go again during spring next year. As a date, of course. Well, I consider this as a date also." I look at him with a smirk.
"I told you to stop talking nonsense. I just keep my promise, that's all." He looks away from me. His face is getting a bit red.
"Hahaha. I'm just kidding. So, what about you? What do you want to do today?" I asked him, trying to keep the conversation going.
"It's a secret." He replied shortly, and then he looked at me.
"What is it?" I asked him while raising my eyebrows.
"Are you sure you're not having any side effects anymore?" His question surprised me. I didn't see this coming.
"Yeah. I'm all better now, thanks to you." I replied to him with a smile.
"That's good, then. I don't want to take care of you if you suddenly faint on the street. And thanks to you, I wasted my last weekend just to take care of you." He said that with a glare.
"Hahaha. Maybe you should just be my personal doctor also." I said that while laughing, and he just kept glaring at me.
"Thank you for the offer, but I refuse that." He said that sarcastically.
"Of course you would say that. But still, thank you for spending your time taking care of me. Well, it doesn't matter what your reason is. I really appreciate everything you did for me at that time. I'm really grateful for you. Thank you again." I said that with a very sweet voice and locked my eyes with him.
"Ahem. I just did what I could as your secretary. Uhm, so, what would you like to eat for lunch later?" He asked me awkwardly. Wow, that's a way to change the topic, I see. Well, I guess I should just play along for now.
"I guess I'll just go with anything you want today." I replied to him, and we ended up talking until we reached our destination.

It's been five hours, and we just finished having lunch at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte. So he wanted to eat steak today, but I wonder why he didn't order any dessert. Don't tell me the place he wanted to go right now is the dessert cafe.
"Are we going to a dessert cafe? You didn't order any earlier." I said that to him, trying to catch up with his pace.
"Something like that but a bit different. It's the place I wanted to try, but I'm sure you will love it." He said that without looking at me, but I could tell he was smiling right now. A place that I will love? What could it be?
"Here we are." He said that with a smile, and I was clearly surprised to see the building in front of me. He might be right. No, actually he's right. I definitely love this place.
