chapter 239
Chapter 239. The Nun Miss, Sullen with Self-Loathing
After some thought, Clotilde started asking around about Noah’s whereabouts.
Eventually, she arrived at the place Noah used to frequent – the Fairy Pavilion.
“A laid-back yet somewhat wild black-haired youth, ah, are you perhaps referring to Mr. Noah, Nun Miss?”
Upon hearing Clotilde’s description, the half-elf behind the counter immediately pictured a familiar face.
She smiled and asked Clotilde if it was indeed Noah she was looking for.
“Yes, is he inside?!”
She hadn’t even been expecting to find anything, but to actually find a lead had the nun excited, her voice rising a few decibels.
“Ah, I’m sorry, Nun Miss, but Mr. Noah hasn’t been here for a while now, maybe two or three weeks, I think.”
The somewhat startled half-elf shop assistant quickly offered an apologetic smile.
“I see… so he *used* to come here…”
Clotilde’s heart sank slightly, a wave of disappointment washing over her.
She thought she had finally found him, but he wasn’t inside after all.
“Yes, he’s been here a few times, but I guess he’s found himself a nice woman lately, so he hasn’t been around. Our shopkeeper seems to be relieved about it, she must be happy for Mr. Noah.”
The half-elf shop assistant recalled her shopkeeper, Lilith’s, reaction, and couldn’t help but smile knowingly.
She was oblivious to the real situation, believing that Lilith was relieved because Noah had found a nice woman and wouldn’t be visiting anymore.
In reality, Lilith was just glad to have finally escaped a nightmare.
“He used to come here often, but not recently? Found a nice woman? Ah…”
Initially, Clotilde was going to thoroughly criticize Noah for his dissolute behavior, for acting so unlike a priest.
But then she did the mental math, and suddenly realized that the time Noah stopped coming coincided with when she had started becoming dissatisfied with the small trinkets and had begun demanding more of his time.
S-so, was it because of *her* that Mr. Noah had stopped coming here?!
For some unknown reason, the nun suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
Perhaps it was because, based on the half-elf shop assistant’s attitude, she was being mistaken for Noah’s woman.
Having already planned to abandon her nun’s vows after dealing with the incubus, and intending to have Noah take responsibility for it, the nun couldn’t help but feel shy.
“It’s not exactly a ‘nice’ woman, more like a terrible, bad woman, don’t you think, Nun Miss?”
It was at that moment, as if he’d observed enough, that Noah walked in from outside the shop, cutting off the nun’s awkwardness without a word.
“Ah! Mr. Noah, long time no see~”
Seeing a familiar regular, the half-elf shop assistant perked up, flashing Noah a wink, her face filled with genuine, happy smiles.
But in stark contrast, Clothilde’s expression rapidly turned icy.
What the hell was with calling her a bad, awful woman!
She’d only taken a few liberties when Noah had shrunk, hadn’t she?
Noah had taken her chastity too, constantly exploring her impure places, making her less and less like a nun these days!
“Yo, it has been a while, indeed. So then, Miss Nun, are you planning on being a customer? The owner of this place is the best in the area, and they cater to female clientele too, so I’ll treat you?”
Noah first flashed the half-elf shop assistant a cheerful smile, then shifted his gaze to the nun who was subtly radiating discontent and anger, teasing her about whether she’d like to patronize the establishment.
Clothilde couldn’t stand this provocation!
She immediately turned to face Noah, speaking forcefully:
“If *you* were the one serving me, I might consider it!”
It was a reaction that was full of defiance.
Not only had Noah suddenly vanished, but now he was back calling her a bad woman.
Of course Clothilde was angry.
What was so bad about her! Compared to Noah, she was a well-behaved, sensible nun, right? – Unavoidable situations when the l*st/mark acts up aside.
“Want to have me? Haha! Miss Nun, you’re kidding. You’re a nun, did you forget?”
Noah laughed mockingly, subtly reminding Clothilde that as long as she remained a nun, she’d be bound by that role.
If she wanted to fully indulge in desires, being a nun was out of the question. She should just become a demon/queen of l*st already.
“…”
Having been told that by Noah, Clothilde seemed to suddenly realize what she had just said.
Her expression became quite unpleasant, her long eyelashes drooping, and her stunning face was faintly tinged with regret and sadness.
Yes, she’d forgotten that she was still a nun, and a nun certainly couldn’t be spending money in a pleasure establishment.
Not only did it go against church doctrine, it would disappoint the goddess she believed in.
Just how low was she going to sink?
Not only did she reverse-rape Mr. Noah, but now she was considering paying to consume Mr. Noah in a brothel?
Was the next step going to be locking Mr. Noah up, using him whenever she pleased like he was her favorite toy?
What kind of nun would that make her?! She would just be a demon/of l*st!
Mr. Noah must hate her being so depraved!
“…Sorry for the interruption.”
A wave of guilt and disappointment washed over her, and Clothilde’s mood plummeted.
Fueled by self-loathing, she nodded goodbye to the half-elf shopkeeper and turned to leave.
Noah, on the other hand, seemed completely carefree, waving a casual farewell to the half-elf before following after her.
“What’s with the silence, Sister? Did you suddenly get hit with a bout of guilt? You’re such a goody-two-shoes, but there’s no going back now, you’ll just have to accept it.”
Not only did he follow her, but Noah also delivered this cruel truth with an air of superiority.
Clothilde knew it, really. She could only accept it.
The past couldn’t be escaped.
But she just hated the way she was falling further and further into depravity!
She had finally noticed: even with Noah’s help, she was just falling slower, that’s all.
And on top of that, that succubus seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.
She was really starting to wonder if she wouldn’t be completely corrupted by the time she actually met the succubus!
Driven by this fear of the future, and self-disgust, Clothilde couldn’t help but sink deeper into despair.
She even started hallucinating, feeling like the streetwalkers soliciting customers were all wearing her face.
No, she felt like those streetwalkers *were* her.
This forced her to lower her head, looking completely devastated as she hurried out of the area.
Because she was a goody-two-shoes, a righteous female protagonist, she was troubled by her fall.
Her emotions were now at their breaking point. All it would take is for her to realize that her worries were meaningless because other clergy members had already become heretics long ago.
Then, the Sister would understand that agonizing over this was foolish.
——Heh heh, sorry Sister, but in order for you to stop worrying in the future, please worry for a few more days. It’s not my fault the Goddess doesn’t want to help and send an angel to save you.
Noah, following right behind Clothilde, wore a sadistic smile as he watched her beautiful, dejected back.
But Noah would soon find out that the Goddess *was* making a move.
It’s just that what she was sending wasn’t a beautiful angel at all.
