Chapter 20: Dark Memories of Gilgamesh
Well, this is a suitable place. First, I must see your potential. So, without wasting any time, let's begin the first test. During this time, I will seal the Gate of Babylon. Shikama Doji brought Gilgamesh to a strange and mysterious forest. When the Gate of Babylon was sealed, Gilgamesh's eyes suddenly narrowed, as if he could no longer sense the presence of the Gate of Babylon.
Your first test is to survive in this forest for seven days. Good luck! Shikama Doji created a massive barrier. Then, he transformed into light and disappeared. Gilgamesh walked calmly, but deep down, he knew this test wouldn't be so easy.
He thought to himself, "A forest for my test? This easily? I've been through tougher things than this." But something about this forest worried him. Gilgamesh smirked arrogantly and continued on his way. He stepped on a rock, but suddenly, the rock beneath his feet began to glow. Gilgamesh's eyes narrowed again, and in an instant, the rock exploded with tremendous force. The blast threw Gilgamesh dozens of meters back, and he slammed hard into a tree. His head was spinning, and he told himself, "If I were an ordinary human, I would have been torn to pieces by now."
As his head spun, the tree he had hit also began to glow. Gilgamesh quickly pulled himself back, and just as he moved away from the tree, it too exploded. But this wasn't the end. The ground beneath his feet started glowing again. Gilgamesh gritted his teeth and realized he was in big trouble.
With superhuman speed, he began to move, but wherever he stepped, explosions followed one after another. Gilgamesh quickly realized that this entire forest was a massive bomb. Every step he took, something exploded. In his heart, he began to curse, moving rapidly from one place to another. It was as if a chain reaction had been triggered, and everything around him was exploding.
From above, in the sky, Shikama Doji watched Gilgamesh with a satisfied smile. From that height, the continuous and successive explosions in the forest were clearly visible. Wherever Gilgamesh went, an explosion occurred. Shikama Doji watched him with an amused expression, as if this were just a game.
On the first day, Gilgamesh realized that this entire vast forest was filled with bombs. Anything he touched or even got close to would explode. On the second day, even as a demigod, Gilgamesh began to tire. Fatigue and hunger were catching up to him. On the third day, in the midst of exhaustion, he noticed that there were some safe spots in the forest that didn't explode. Finally, he was able to rest a little and sleep.
But on the fourth day, hunger and thirst forced him to return to the forest. Every time he tried to pick a fruit from a tree, the tree would explode. Even the springs of water would explode as soon as he approached them. Gilgamesh had to act carefully and quickly to find something to eat and drink. For a prince like him, these few days were like hell.
The fifth and sixth days passed in the same manner. Gilgamesh, with his clothes dirty and torn, stared at the sun with tired eyes. The growling of his stomach was clearly audible. Suddenly, he saw Shikama Doji's face above him, looking down with a gentle smile. Gilgamesh wanted to scream and curse him, but he was too exhausted to even do that.
Shikama Doji said calmly, "It seems you've had a good time these past few days! Well, I'll give you a day of rest. The next test begins tomorrow. For now, you can enjoy yourself." At that moment, something like a wormhole appeared in front of Gilgamesh, and water and food spilled out of it. Gilgamesh gritted his teeth and dragged his exhausted body toward it.
He stared at Shikama Doji with tired, hate-filled eyes and began to drink the water with his dry lips. In his heart, he thought, "This damned devil." But he had nothing to say. All he wanted was to rest and recover his lost strength.
