Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 17: Meeting with Gilgamesh

In a lush and vibrant forest, a young boy could be seen walking calmly with a smile on his lips. The sound of birds singing and the murmurs of animals filled the forest, but the boy didn't seem anxious. He looked around with calmness and occasional curiosity, as if he was enjoying this wild environment. This boy was Gilgamesh, who had come to the forest with his father for hunting but had gotten lost among the dense trees.

"Hmm... seems like I'm lost," Gilgamesh murmured to himself, but there was no sign of anxiety on his face. He continued to walk calmly, as if this wild forest was like home to him. What seemed strange was that in the area where Gilgamesh was walking, no wild animals could be seen. It was as if they had all fled from him.

As Gilgamesh continued on his way, his eyes suddenly fell upon a beautiful person. This person was so beautiful that they even seemed more beautiful than Gilgamesh's mother. They wore a combination of a short-sleeved top in a light color and a long tunic that reached down to their feet. Over this outfit, they wore a long, white robe adorned with dark blue patterns. The jewelry they wore included two delicate necklaces and long bracelets on each wrist. Their hair was beautifully braided, and their face captivated anyone who looked at them.

But Gilgamesh was no ordinary person. Besides beauty, he sensed something else in this person: absolute power. Even when he looked at his mother, he didn't feel this way. Immediately, Gilgamesh used the "All-Knowing Star," but to his surprise, it froze. The All-Knowing Star, which could even provide information about the gods, this time gave him no information about the person in front of him.

"Damn it... who is this?" Gilgamesh thought to himself. There was only one reason for the All-Knowing Star's failure, but accepting that conclusion was very difficult for Gilgamesh: the person in front of him was stronger than the gods. The difference in power between the two was so vast that the All-Knowing Star had been defeated. Cold sweat dripped from Gilgamesh's forehead, but despite this, he smirked and stared at Shikama Doji.

"May I ask who you are and what you're doing here?" Gilgamesh asked in a haughty tone. As expected of Gilgamesh, even as a child, he was arrogant.

"I'm just an ordinary passerby passing through. Never mind, it seems you're lost. Do you need help?" Shikama Doji looked at Gilgamesh with a gentle and calm smile.

Gilgamesh could hardly believe that the person in front of him was just an ordinary passerby. Even if he were beaten to death, he wouldn't believe that. To him, Shikama Doji must be some kind of ancient god passing through this area for some reason. Now that Shikama Doji insisted on playing the role of a mortal, Gilgamesh decided to pretend he didn't know. Sweat continued to drip from his forehead. If this were the adult version of Gilgamesh, he would never do such a thing, but the child version of him didn't yet have the full pride of his adult self.

"I would appreciate your help. My city is Uruk. If you accompany me to Uruk, I would be grateful," Gilgamesh smirked, confident that he would be safe until he reached Uruk.

"How interesting, my path also leads to Uruk. Let's go together. Your parents must be worried. We should hurry," Shikama Doji took Gilgamesh's hand and they set off gently.

Gilgamesh clenched his teeth. If it weren't for the difference in power between them, he would have already attacked Shikama Doji. The thought of being treated like a child infuriated him, but due to the difference in power, he had no choice but to submit.

As their hands were locked together, they walked calmly through the forest. Shikama Doji still wore a gentle and kind smile, while the veins on Gilgamesh's forehead bulged. It seemed this event was going to become one of the dark memories of Gilgamesh's life.

Gilgamesh thought to himself, "This will be a day I will never forget."
