Chapter 29: Chapter 28 On the road again alone

Ethan entered the dream again, this time, his heart is no longer just confused and afraid, but full of deep fear of the personality of the madman. He gradually realizes that the madman personality not only affects him in the real world, but also controls his actions in his dreams.

As Ethan's consciousness dawns in his dream, he finds himself standing on the edge of a familiar city. Everything around seems so real, but with a hint of unreal color. There was a slight coolness in the air, and the city in the distance was brightly lit, as if waiting for some story to happen.

This is the city where he first met Matthew.

"Why here?" Ethan whispered to himself, a mixture of emotions welling up inside him. He remembered the place where he and Matthew had fought side by side against the enemies who lurked in the darkness.

"Lunatic personality... What do you want to do?" Ethan felt the crazy voice deep inside him smile, as if playing with his emotions.

As he walked slowly into the city, the streets remained the same, the familiar shops, laneways and buildings as if unchanged. However, Ethan felt waves of unease in his heart. The madman personality is clearly trying to plunge him back into the struggles and contradictions of his dreams by bringing him back to this place.

"I can't let you control me anymore." Ethan whispered to himself, his heart determined.

Time seemed to pass slowly in the dream, and Ethan wandered aimlessly around the city for a day. His mind was in a whirl, unable to shake off the cruel memories of those dreams. He kept thinking about his choices, and the struggle within him was agonizing.

As Ethan prepares to leave the city, he suddenly sees a familiar figure - Matthew. Matthew's figure appeared at the other end of the street, walking slowly towards him, with his usual gentle smile.

"Matthew..." Ethan's heart beat fast. He couldn't believe his eyes, but the familiar face and steps were those of the friend he had accidentally killed in his dream.

"Ethan, why are you here?" Matthew approached, still with a warm smile on his face, as if nothing had happened.

Ethan's heart welled with guilt and pain, and he knew he had to face Matthew and the crimes of his dreams.

"Matthew... I..." Ethan opened his mouth, but the voice stuck in his throat and couldn't continue.

Matthew looked at him, frowning slightly, as if sensing Ethan's struggle and pain. "What happened, Ethan? You don't look right."

Ethan bowed his head, was silent for a moment, then finally plucked up the courage to say, "Matthew, I have to tell you something... In a dream... Me to I killed you by mistake."

Matthew's expression turned serious for an instant, and he looked at Ethan quietly without answering immediately.

"The puppets... They're terrible." Ethan's voice trembled and tears glistened in his eyes. "They took advantage of my fear and my madness and made me do things I can't forgive... I can't face you again. I'm afraid I'll hurt you again."

Matthew still did not speak, his eyes soft and firm, as if waiting for Ethan to finish.

"So..." Ethan took a deep breath, trying to compose himself, "So, I'm asking you, let me go alone, let me go on this journey alone." I can't slow you down any longer, and I'm afraid the madman personality will take control of me again and make me do something even more terrible."

Matthew looked at Ethan, was silent for a moment, and finally said, "Ethan, I understand how you feel. Everything in your dreams is terrible, but you have to understand that it's not your fault. You are manipulated by puppets, overwhelmed by inner fear and stress. You didn't really mean to hurt me."

Ethan shook his head, his eyes still full of remorse and pain, "but I can't forgive myself... Whether the dream was real or not, it felt so real that I was afraid it would repeat itself in real life."

Matthew sighed and stepped forward and patted Ethan on the shoulder. "Ethan, I'm not going to force you. I know you need time and space right now to clear your mind and find your own answers. If you decide to take this path alone, I respect your choice."

Ethan felt a wave of relief, but he was still filled with mixed emotions. He knew that leaving Matthew might be the best thing for now, but that didn't mean his heart would be at ease.

"Thank you, Matthew." Ethan whispered, a gleam of gratitude in his eyes.

Matthew smiled and nodded, "But I want you to remember that I'm not really leaving you." Even if we're not together anymore, I'll help you in some other way. I will pray for you and find some way to help you. Wherever you are, I will be watching you."

Ethan looked deeply at Matthew, and his heart felt warm and touched. He knew that even if they were apart, Matthew would remain his friend and supporter, and that the friendship would last forever.

"I'll remember your words, Matthew." Ethan said, his voice firm, "I will find my answer, find a way to fight the dreams and the madman personality."

Matthew smiled and nodded, then gave Ethan a gentle hug, "Take care of yourself, Ethan. No matter what difficulties you encounter, don't give up."

Ethan felt a warm rush into his heart, and he knew that this parting might be temporary, but it was also necessary. In order to better face his inner darkness and fear, he must embark on this journey alone.

'Goodbye, Matthew,' he said. Ethan whispered, turning and leaving the city.

After Ethan left Matthew, he walked alone in the wilderness of the dream. His heart was filled with mixed emotions and struggles, but a strong determination gradually took root in the depths of his heart. Even though he felt great pain and fear in this dream world, even though he knew that his friends here might not be real, he could not bear the manipulation and teasing of the puppets.

"I can't just leave..." Ethan whispered, his hands clenched, his eyes glistening with anger. "I can't let those puppets manipulate me so easily, play with my emotions and my will."

He makes a decision - before giving up the dream world completely, he will find the puppets and take revenge on them himself. Even if everything here is illusory, even if the enemy he faces may not exist at all, he will use his own strength to get justice for himself and his friends in the dream.

"Crazy personality can control me once, but it will never control me forever." Ethan clenched his teeth, his anger burning even more fiercely.

He realizes that to face those strange and powerful puppets, he must become stronger. He must improve his powers, especially the ability to coagulate the blood of others, which he failed to fully master last time. Ethan knew that this was one of the powers he shared with the madman personality, and that it grew stronger each time the madman personality took over his body.

"Since this power belongs to me, then I will fully control it." Ethan made up his mind that he could no longer rely on the personality of a madman to bring power to himself, and he wanted to master the power through his own efforts.

Ethan found a remote spot in the wilderness and decided to train there. He sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and tried to feel again the dark force within him that belonged to the madman's personality. At first, this power still seemed extremely elusive, like a sliding snake that could bite him at any moment.

"Calm down... I have to stay calm." Ethan told himself he couldn't let anger and fear take over again.

He began to experiment with the ability to coagulate the blood of others that had failed the previous time. He recalled every detail of his time in battle, recalled the moments when he had tried to control the enemy's blood, felt the force flowing through his body. His will gradually concentrated, as if he had shut out the whole world, leaving only the dark power that was constantly surging inside him.

"I want to master you..." Ethan said through clenched teeth, his mind completely absorbed in the power of control.

Finally, he felt the force respond to him. His fingers vibrated slightly, as if they were resonating with the force. Ethan gathers all his energy and directs it toward his target - a withered tree.

He imagined the liquid in the trees beginning to solidify, and he imagined his own will controlling the flow of the liquid. At first the tree did not respond, but as Ethan's determination grew, the branches of the tree suddenly began to shake violently, as if something had changed within it.

"It worked! Ethan's heart was filled with ecstasy, but he did not relax his grip on power. He knew that if he let up, the force might come back to bite him.

Ethan continued to control the force intently, feeling as if he held some invisible force in the palm of his hand, able to manipulate the liquid around him at will. Although this force still appears unstable, he has succeeded in taking the first step.

He stood up and took a deep breath, filled with confidence. Although this power is not strong enough, he knows that as long as he continues to train, he will eventually be able to fully control this power and use it in his revenge plan.

"Every time the lunatic personality took over my body, my strength changed." Ethan whispered, a new understanding and fear welling up in his heart as he realized this.

The madman personality is not only a spiritual threat, but also a source of strength. Each time the madman personality takes over, his body and abilities change in some way, as if this insane force is gradually eroding and shaping his essence.

"I have to be more careful..." Ethan reminds himself that he can no longer let the maniac personality get the better of him, or he risks losing himself completely and becoming a ruthless killing machine.

But at the same time he felt a strange exhilaration, a change in power that gave him a sense of power and control he had never felt before. He knew that this excitement was dangerous in itself, but he could not completely resist the lure of this power.

"Maybe I can use that power." Ethan muttered, he decided to continue to exercise his powers, this dark force into their own weapons. In any case, he must become strong enough to face the puppet, and strong enough to avenge himself and his friends in the dream.
