Chapter 10: Chapter 9 Betrayal and trap
Using Ethan's experience and intelligence in the real world, Ethan and Leah develop an ingenious plan to capture the Dwarf warriors. They chose a forest suitable for the trap and began the intensive preparation work.
Ethan weaves multiple traps out of branches and vines, each carefully designed to ensure it can trap powerful Dwarven warriors. Leah was in charge of guarding the area against a surprise attack by the dwarves. They also took advantage of the terrain, setting up obstacles and bunkers at key locations so they could carry out ambushes if needed.
As night fell, Ethan and Leah hid among the trees, quietly waiting for their target to arrive. They knew that the dwarves' patrols would pass through the forest at night, and that this was their only chance.
Sure enough, soon after, a group of dwarf warriors appeared at the edge of the forest. They walked cautiously, looking around warily. Ethan held his breath and waited patiently for the perfect moment.
When the Dwarves came within range of the trap, Ethan quietly signaled Leah to prepare for action. Together they pulled the hidden vines, and several dwarven warriors were caught and fell to the ground. Other fighters quickly draw their weapons and try to come to the rescue, but Ethan and Leah jump out of cover and launch a surprise attack.
After a fierce battle, Ethan and Leah managed to capture ten dwarves. They gathered the fighters together and tied them with ropes to prevent them from escaping.
"We did it," Leah breathlessly said, victory shining in her eyes.
Ethan nodded, his heart filled with pride and joy. He knew that they had completed half the task. Now, all we have to do is kill these warriors and return to the werewolf tribe with their weapons to gain recognition.
However, just as Ethan raised his weapon, ready to end the lives of these dwarven warriors, a familiar sound of footsteps came. Ethan and Leah turned their heads to see Harold and a few of the werewolf warriors emerge from the trees.
"Well done, Ethan, Leah," Harold said coldly, with an imperceptible grimness in his eyes. "Looks like you have a lot of potential."
Ethan felt uneasy, but said, "We have captured ten Dwarven warriors and are now ready to finish the job."
Harold smiled. "You've proven what you can do. Now let's take care of the rest."
Harold and his men quickly took over the scene, killing the ten captured Dwarven warriors without mercy. The bloody scene made Ethan feel sick to his stomach, but he knew he was powerless to stop it.
"Well, you've done your job now," Harold said, with a hint of irony in his voice. "But it's not over yet."
Suddenly, Harold let out a low growl, and the other werewolves quickly surrounded Ethan and Leah. There was a flash of anger and horror in Ethan's eyes as he realized he had fallen into a trap.
"What are you doing?" Ethan snapped, trying to hide his fear.
Harold sneered. "Did you really think we'd let you in so easily? You're just bait to distract us from the dwarves."
Ethan's heart sank suddenly, and he knew that something had gone terribly wrong. Harold continued, "We will reveal your whereabouts to the Dwarves, and they will come after you for revenge. We, on the other hand, will take Leah. She is more useful to us."
Ethan felt a surge of anger. He knew he couldn't let Harold get away with it. He made a quick decision, grabbed Leah's hand, and tried to get her out of here. However, they are surrounded by werewolf warriors and have no chance of escape.
"You won't have a chance," Harold sneered. "Accept your fate."
Just then there was a sound of rapid footsteps in the woods. Ethan sees a group of dwarf warriors appear in the distance, apparently lured by Harold. The dwarf warriors saw their slain brethren, their eyes lit with rage, and rushed towards Ethan and Leah.
Harold and his men quickly retreated, leaving Ethan and Leah to face the wrath of the Dwarves. Ethan knew he had to find a way to protect Leah, but he also knew it would be difficult for him to stand up to the angry dwarves.
"We must run apart," Ethan whispered to Leah. "There may be a chance of survival."
Leah nodded, a gleam of determination in her eyes. They split up, trying to escape the pursuit of the Dwarven warriors. As Ethan ran through the forest, he heard the roar and footsteps of the dwarves behind him. He knew he couldn't stop, he had to do whatever it took to get out.
Leah, too, was running as fast as she could, knowing she could not be caught without consequences. She dodged trees and thorns, doing her best to maintain speed.
However, the speed and perseverance of the Dwarven warriors were beyond their imagination. Ethan soon felt exhausted and knew he couldn't run any longer. Just then he saw a hidden cave ahead of him, and he quickly slipped into it and hid himself in the darkness.
The Dwarven warriors chased him to the cave, searching for Ethan. Ethan held his breath, trying to keep quiet. He knew that if the dwarves entered the cave, there would be no escape for him.
Fortunately, the Dwarven warriors did not find the cave, and after stopping for a moment, they continued to search in other directions. Ethan felt a pang of happiness, but he knew it was only temporary.
He had to find Leah and make sure she was safe. He walked slowly out of the cave, carefully avoiding the dwarven warriors, and began to look for Leah.
After a difficult search, Ethan finally finds Leah in a clearing. She was lying on the ground, obviously injured. Ethan rushed over to examine her injuries.
"Leah, are you okay?" Ethan asked anxiously.
Leah opened her eyes and nodded weakly. "I'm OK, just a little hurt. We have to get out of here. They'll come back."
Ethan nodded, knowing they couldn't stay here any longer. He picked Leah up and walked slowly deeper into the forest, trying to find a safe place.
They found a hidden cave and hid in it for a while. Ethan treated Leah's wound with the herbs he had with him, then sat beside her and waited quietly for her to regain her strength.
"I'm sorry I dragged you down, Ethan," Leah whispered, a flicker of guilt in her eyes.
Ethan shook his head. "It's not your fault. It was all Harold's plot. We must find a way to deal with him."
Leah nodded, determination twinkling in her eyes. "We must expose his plot and protect our people."
Ethan felt a surge of strength in his heart, and he knew that he and Leah had become true partners.
The next morning, after recovering a little, Ethan and Leah decided to continue their escape. They knew they had to get out of this dangerous forest as soon as possible, or sooner or later they would be found.
"We have to find an exit and get out of this forest as fast as we can," Ethan whispered to Leah, tension and determination twinkling in his eyes.
Leah nodded. "We'll go together and try to avoid confrontation."
They moved carefully through the forest, trying to avoid any possible danger. Suddenly, Ethan felt the atmosphere around him grow unusually tense, and he realized that something was approaching.
'Quick, hide! Ethan whispered hastily, pulling Leah into a thick thicken of bushes.
They held their breath and looked around cautiously. Soon after, a group of werewolf warriors appeared in their sights, none other than Harold's men. They're obviously searching for Ethan and Leah.
"How did they find us?" Leah whispered, a flicker of fear in her eyes.
"I don't know, but we have to stay calm," Ethan responded, trying to compose himself.
As the werewolf warriors approach, Ethan and Leah dare not move for fear of being discovered. However, just when they thought they were safe, a werewolf warrior suddenly stopped and looked in their direction.
'There's movement here! "Shouted the werewolf warrior, and the others gathered quickly.
Ethan and Leah realize they've been discovered and decide to fight to the death. They rushed out of the bushes and tried to escape, but the werewolf warriors had surrounded them.
'Run! Ethan shouted, pulling Leah as he ran.
However, the Werewolf warriors were far superior in speed and strength, and Ethan was quickly tackled to the ground by one of the warriors. He struggled, but the force of the other side was too strong, and he felt his body gradually weaken.
Leah was also overpowered by the other warriors, who were unable to resist and surrounded by the werewolf warriors. Harold walked forward with a sneer, a gleam of triumph in his eyes.
"Do you think you can escape?" Harold scoffed. "This is just the beginning."
Just then, suddenly, a group of dwarf warriors appeared, apparently on hearing the news. The Dwarf warriors, seeing Ethan and Leah trapped, rushed forward with a roar of anger.
'Kill them! Harold ordered, and the werewolf warriors rushed to fight.
Released in the chaos, Ethan sees the dwarven warriors coming at him and knows he must escape again. He tried to get up as hard as he could and tried to escape with Leah, but he was so wounded that his body could barely support him.
The dwarf warriors pounced, Ethan felt a sharp pain, and then everything went blurry. His consciousness receded and everything became dark.
When Ethan opened his eyes again, he found himself lying in a strange place, surrounded by white walls and various medical equipment. He tried to move, but found his body immobilized.
"Ethan, you're awake," said a soft voice in his ear.
Ethan turned his head and saw Dr. Lin standing by his bed with a twinkle of worry and concern in his eyes.
"Dr. Lin, I... What happened to me?" Ethan asked weakly, trying to remember what had happened.
Dr. Lin sighed and gently grasped his hand, "You have experienced a fierce battle in the dream, and you are also struggling violently in reality." We had to restrain you temporarily to prevent you from hurting yourself."
Ethan felt a wave of fear, knowing that his dreams were affecting reality, making it impossible for him to tell the difference between what was real and what was not.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what I did," Ethan whispered, a little lost in his eyes.
Dr. Lin patted his hand gently, "Don't worry, we'll find a solution." But your state of mind is a real concern and we need to examine it further."
Ethan felt weak and knew he had to face the problem. He closed his eyes and tried to calm himself.
"I will cooperate with your examination," Ethan said firmly, trying to keep his voice calm.
Dr. Lin nodded, determination twinkling in his eyes. "We will find the cause and help you get back to your normal life."
Ethan lay in bed, full of confusion and fear. As he closed his eyes and recalled the dream, the sense of life and death was still clear. Every time he tried to recall the details of his dream, he would picture the angry eyes of the dwarf warriors and Harold's sly smile. He knows that everything he feels in his dreams is real, even stronger than reality.
"What's wrong with me?" Ethan asked himself silently. He felt that his mental state was becoming increasingly unstable, that the line between dream and reality was blurring.
Dr. Lin stood aside, watching Ethan's expression change, his heart is also full of worry. She had never seen such a manic dream, Ethan's extreme emotions and violent reactions in the dream, almost like a mental patient.
"His dreams are so manic, it's very abnormal," Dr. Lin told himself. She knew that Ethan's dreams had gone beyond ordinary nightmares and were more like a manifestation of schizophrenia.
"We must find the cause as soon as possible," Dr. Lin decided to herself, and she could not let Ethan continue to suffer like this. Ethan's condition is more complex and serious than she imagined, and it's not just a dream problem, but a deep spiritual one.
"Ethan," Dr. Lin said gently, "you have to trust us. We'll find a way. But until then, you need to try to stay calm and control your emotions."
