Fairy Tail: The Son of Gildarts

Chapter 47: Future Sight

Future Sight

---

Third Person Pov

Hades was pissed. No, his anger went beyond that. It had been years since he was injured to this extent and to think that it was done by a teenage boy.

It hurt his ego, and it hurt his pride even more.

The pride of being the Second Guild Master of Fairy Tail and the pride of being the leader of Grimoire Heart. The pride of being one of the founders of Fairy Tail. It got hurt.

And now he really wanted to kill the boy in front of him.

Hades remained afloat in the sky as he looked menacingly at Shanks who became seen from all the rubbles, smoke and dust.

'He is not to be underestimated.'

Hades thought. Though he was injured quite severely. He remained calm inside and outside.

[Grimoire Chain]

Hades made his move. His Magic Circle materialized into thin air as he shot long chains from his hands that moved at unreal speed.

The chains whistled through air but Shanks with his observation Haki dodged it quite easily. His body was nimble and quick.

He jumped from the building to where Hades was. He took a deep breath, grasped his saber and slashed forward.

The attack was pure Haki.

Hades blocked with his forearm, the impact sending shockwaves through the air.

"You've improved," Hades said with a smirk, blood trickling from the wound in his chest. "But you're still just a boy chasing ghosts."

Shanks narrowed his eyes. "I'm not chasing ghosts. I'm creating my own future."

His mind buzzed. The battle pushed him beyond his limits. The clash of power, the sharpness of his senses, the pressure of the fight—it all triggered something deep inside.

Suddenly, his vision shimmered. The world slowed.

Two seconds into the future.

A flash of insight struck him like lightning.

He saw the next move Hades was about to make—a powerful strike with his chains aimed to trap and crush.

Shanks flared his Observation Haki to its peak and activated the newly awakened power within him—Future Sight.

Time no longer felt linear.

He moved before the attack fully formed, sidestepping with inhuman grace.

His saber cut through the air, aiming for Hades' exposed flank.

Hades twisted just in time, gritting his teeth.

"Impressive."

He lunged forward, chains writhing like serpents.

"You think you can win with tricks?"

Shanks smirked, confidence flashing in his eyes.

"Maybe not. But I'll make sure to take you down with me."

He unleashed a burst of Destruction Magic, the air crackling with destructive energy.

[Divine Departure!]

The slash cut through chains and air, forcing Hades back.

But Hades grinned wickedly.

"You're strong... but not enough."

He raised a hand, dark runes glowing ominously.

[Grimoire Seal]

The runes burst forth, aiming to bind Shanks in place.

Shanks' eyes flashed. He pushed his Rune Magic to its limits, breaking the seal almost instantly.

"You'll have to do better."

Their battle escalated, shockwaves tearing the Tower apart.

But Hades' experience and overwhelming power began to overwhelm Shanks.

The boy's stamina waned, his body bruised and battered.

In a sudden, crushing move, Hades ensnared Shanks with chains that shattered Shanks' defenses.

Shanks crashed against the ruined tower wall, wind knocked out of him.

Gasping, he looked up into Hades' cold eyes.

"Why... spare me?" Shanks wheezed.

Hades smiled thinly.

"You are the son of Gildarts. Your potential intrigues me. Besides, I have other plans for you."

He gestured behind Shanks, where Ultear stirred weakly, unconscious.

"Her. She comes with me."

Shanks clenched his fists, frustration burning.

"You won't get away with this."

Hades chuckled darkly.

"Try and stop me."

Suddenly, from the rubble below, a fierce glow flared.

Rob, battered and bleeding, stepped forward.

"Everyone, get back!" he shouted, voice raw but resolute.

He raised his hands, channeling his remaining Magic Power into a massive barrier and destructive blast aimed to hold back the reinforcements and give the others a chance to escape.

The ground shook violently as his sacrifice exploded around him.

Shanks' eyes widened.

"Rob!"

The blast engulfed Rob completely, his figure dissolving into light.

Silence fell.

Hades looked on with a flicker of respect.

"You fought well, old friend."
