Era of Heroic Spirits: I Was Exposed by Alaya

Chapter 33: [33] The Exposed Dark History of the King of Heroes!

The previous two videos.

In "The Avenging Witch," Nameless had been silently assisting Jeanne d'Arc, helping her reclaim Orléans.

After Jeanne was sent to the stake, he even turned to ashes with her in the flames.

In "The Perfect King," despite claiming he wouldn't become King Arthur's knight, Nameless eliminated all her enemies.

Especially Mordred—he went out of his way to prepare special meals for her daily, dishes so delicious they made others envious.

When King Arthur and Mordred had their father-daughter bonding moment, he sacrificed himself just to mediate their fight.

But now!

Roya watched as Nameless immediately started trading "mongrel" insults with the King of Heroes upon appearing.

This video made her tremble with anger, breaking into a cold sweat despite the summer heat, her hands and feet turning icy. Couldn't he at least be consistent?

When would men ever get the same preferential treatment?

Unable to contain her curiosity, Roya asked, "By the way, why is Nameless targeting the King of Heroes like this? Won't the King of Heroes want to kill him after watching this?"

"He won't," Souma calmly replied.

"Why not? He literally called the King of Heroes a mongrel to his face!"

Roya grew even more puzzled.

As long as human history continued, these heroic spirits would persist.

A hundred years had passed since Gilgamesh descended into the modern era.

Yet this was the first time anyone dared insult him directly!

"Just keep watching."

Naturally, Souma wouldn't explain the reason to this brat.

Before traveling to Uruk during the Age of Gods, he had spent time in another parallel modern world.

The atrocities committed by the bratty Gilgamesh had enraged him so much that he challenged the King of Heroes to a duel.

Back then, his strength wasn't yet formidable, and he suffered a brutal beating.

But he ultimately managed a hard-fought counterattack.

Having just gone through that, how could he possibly greet the King of Heroes with a smile? Yet by sheer coincidence, he discovered another side of the golden tyrant!

Souma was certain.

Alaya would undoubtedly release all the related videos next.

When that happened, Gilgamesh's expression would be absolutely priceless!

For some reason, he felt a little anticipation.

Could this be the joy of exposing someone's dark history?

Alaya, you black-hearted boss forcing employees into 24/7 overtime—were you just sitting on these videos, savoring the pleasure of exposing others?

At this thought, Souma's mood turned rather complicated.

One day, he'd make her kneel before him and sing "Conquest"!

"The King of Heroes is furious—they're about to fight!" Roya widened her eyes, eagerly watching the video.

As a proper spectator, the juicier the drama, the better!

Fight! Fight! Fight!

On screen.

"You mongrel... How dare you speak of the gods this way?"

Gilgamesh, initially consumed by rage and about to unleash a thunderous strike, froze momentarily at these words.

Everyone worshipped the gods fanatically.

They saw this famine as divine punishment upon him.

They believed he should bow to the gods and beg for their forgiveness!

This was something Gilgamesh would never do.

Yet now, this man declared, "I've never believed in gods—only in humanity's triumph over heaven."

Arrogant to the extreme, just like him.

No—even more arrogant.

Not even Gilgamesh had such absolute confidence in defeating the gods!

"In the eyes of the gods, humans are nothing but livestock. To manage this herd, the gods specially bred a dog."

Nameless smirked at him. "Tell me, O Heavenly Wedge—what connection does this dog have to you?"

Under his inquiry, Gilgamesh's face turned ashen.

His crimson eyes brimmed with boundless killing intent.

Violent energy surged around him, crushing stones into dust.

Even at the peak of his fury, he had no choice but to grudgingly admit—

The analogy was not wrong!

To put it kindly, he was the "Heavenly Wedge" crafted by the gods to restrain humanity.

Possessing an exalted status of "two-thirds divine, one-third human."

In truth, the gods treated humans as livestock to be herded.

To suppress the overpopulation and growing strength of humanity, they specifically dispatched a goddess—his own mother—to unite with the King of Uruk.

Thus, they bred a creature with both divine and human blood—

A sheepdog!

Gilgamesh was acutely aware of this, which was why he had despised and opposed the gods from the very beginning.

From birth, he had sought to break free from the shackles of the gods and become a king of true freedom!

These words had now plunged him into an abyss of uncontrollable rage!

Gilgamesh roared, "This king has reached the limits of his patience! You insolent mongrel, how do you wish to die?!"

Yet, facing the enraged King of Heroes, Nameless neither retreated nor bowed his head.

"This dog refuses to obediently manage the livestock in its pen. How do you think the gods should deal with such a dog?"

His smile grew even gentler. "Would the gods forge another weapon, whip this disobedient dog, chain it down, and force it into submission?"

His words were soft-spoken, devoid of any harsh insults.

There was no physical threat either.

Yet,

Every onlooker who witnessed this felt their hearts pound with dread—

-[Damn, that's brutal. Getting roasted this hard—am I even allowed to see the King of Heroes' dark history?]

-[Look, that guy really looks like a dog!]

-[Holy shit, the King of Heroes despises the gods the most, and now he's being compared to their lapdog!]

-[As expected of you, doing what none of us could ever dare!]

-[Damn, really just exposing the King of Heroes' dark history for a public execution, huh?]

...

"Alright, there's no way Nameless is getting treated as a close friend or mentor by the King of Heroes now!"

Mordred crossed her legs with immense satisfaction.

Given the King of Heroes' pride, not even the gods could make him bow his head.

Now, Nameless had the audacity to compare him to a god's lapdog—this was bound to infuriate him.

Mordred could already see a bright tomorrow waving at her.

This bet was a sure win!

"But… why do I feel like the King of Heroes might actually like Nameless even more?"

Gawain stood by the window, bathed in golden sunlight, voicing his doubts with a slight frown.

"Pfft—ha ha ha! You potato-brain, do you seriously think the King of Heroes is a masochist who enjoys being insulted?"

Mordred burst into laughter.

That was a king whose pride knew no bounds—how could he possibly tolerate being insulted like this to his face?

Gawain merely smiled without responding.

I, Gawain, am invincible under the sun!

For a gambler like Mordred, who wouldn't stop until she lost everything, the real spectacle was yet to come.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Gilgamesh, growing increasingly furious, still refrained from attacking Nameless.

"You mongrel, is this your pathetic attempt to prove your worth and earn my acknowledgment?"

Suddenly, he threw his head back and laughed, declaring with unshakable arrogance, "Very well! Kneel before me and pledge your loyalty as my most devoted subject!"

"But I refuse!"

Nameless coldly snorted, throwing the words right back. "I, Nameless, love saying 'no' to self-important fools like you! A mere lapdog of the gods—what right do you have to demand my submission?"

"If you won't be my subject, do you dare presume to stand as my equal—as my friend?"

Gilgamesh paused briefly, then laughed with unrestrained amusement. "What a joke! No one in this world is worthy of being my friend—least of all you!"
