Entertainment King:I Can Extract Skills from the Movies

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: A Taste of Heaven

Ma Yaowei struggled to his feet, his face flushed with embarrassment.

He couldn't believe he'd been taken down so effortlessly.

Was all his years of training for nothing?

His earlier ambitions and calculations had all vanished into thin air.

Du Sheng, however, didn't mock him or add salt to the wound. Instead, he offered a hand:

"Are you alright?"

In truth, Du Sheng had pulled his punches. If he hadn't restrained his strength, the outcome would've been far more dramatic.

"I… I lost," Ma Yaowei admitted awkwardly, though with a measure of dignity. He wasn't one to cling to a lost cause.

"Thank you for holding back."

Du Sheng shook his head.

"You held back yourself."

Had Ma Yaowei acted like a sore loser, Du Sheng wouldn't have hesitated to teach him a harsher lesson.

Ma Yaowei sighed, offering a rare moment of humility:

"Consider me in your debt."

"You're too kind. Let's eat," Du Sheng replied, brushing the matter aside as he returned to the dining hall.

The women at his table, including Liu Tao and Liu Yifei, eagerly resumed their meals, visibly relieved and impressed.

Meanwhile, Ma Yaowei limped back to Yuan Bin's side, muttering,

"I was too full of myself. The mainland really is full of hidden masters."

Yuan Bin simply shook his head.

"There's always someone better. Remember that."

He had already decided to let go of the two loudmouthed men from his crew. Their attitude and lack of respect had worn thin.

As for Ma Yaowei, Yuan Bin reassured him:

"With Du Sheng handling the choreography, your role here is less critical. Don't stress."

Ma Yaowei grimaced but said nothing.

The filming crew dove into a rigorous schedule.

Mornings were reserved for wirework and horseback riding; afternoons focused on martial arts and weapon training. Evenings were spent on script readings.

Despite the grueling hours, Du Sheng's contributions as an action consultant didn't go unnoticed.

Yuan Bin, who had initially been skeptical, couldn't help but admire Du Sheng's knack for choreography. His moves combined practical efficiency with cinematic flair—a balance that few martial artists could achieve.

Recognizing this, Yuan Bin suggested formally appointing Du Sheng to help with action sequences, including planning fight scenes and training other actors.

Du Sheng welcomed the opportunity. It not only came with an added paycheck but also enhanced his credentials in the industry.

Within weeks, Du Sheng's earnings from this project alone reached 100,000 yuan—a sum that could buy a modest-sized apartment bathroom in Beijing.

His collaboration with Yuan Bin brought out the best in both their styles. Yuan Bin's grounded, traditional approach meshed seamlessly with Du Sheng's modern, innovative flair. Together, they elevated the choreography to a level that impressed even Zhao Jian, the action director.

Zhao Jian predicted,

"This version of The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils might just become the most iconic yet, especially in terms of martial arts sequences."

To ensure the actors could deliver, Zhao Jian intensified the physical training regimen, pushing everyone to their limits.

One evening, back at their shared dormitory, Liu Tao flopped onto her bed, groaning,

"I'm so tired. I'd give anything for a proper meal."

The long hours and restrictive diet were taking a toll. Designed to maintain the actors' physiques, the meals consisted mostly of bland, low-fat dishes.

Liu Yifei chuckled softly,

"Hang in there, Taojie. Just a few more days."

Liu Yifei, still in her teenage years, found the diet manageable, though she missed heartier meals.

"At least give us some soup!" Liu Tao lamented, sprawled dramatically.

Just then, their roommate Wang Yi entered, carrying a thermos.

"What's that smell?" Liu Tao asked, her nose twitching.

Wang Yi smiled mysteriously and placed the thermos on the table.

"Winter melon pork rib soup. Perfect for cooling off and replenishing energy."

"Wow!" Liu Tao's eyes lit up.

"Can we have some? It's been forever since I've had anything this good."

Even Liu Yifei looked over curiously, drawn by the mouthwatering aroma.

"Of course," Wang Yi said, pouring them each a bowl.

"Thank you!" Liu Yifei said, cradling her portion.

"This is heavenly!" Liu Tao exclaimed after her first sip, savoring the rich, savory flavor.

"Wang Yi, was this your boyfriend's doing? If so, I'm jealous."

Wang Yi laughed and shook her head.

"No, it was Du Sheng. He managed to get hold of some pork ribs and made a big pot. Everyone got a share."

"Du Sheng?" Liu Tao and Liu Yifei reacted differently.

Liu Tao raised an eyebrow playfully.

"What's going on between you two? Is there something we don't know?"

Though Liu Yifei's eyes stayed on her soup, her ears perked up at the mention of Du Sheng.

During their weeks of training and rehearsals, Liu Yifei couldn't help but notice Du Sheng's unique charm.

Whether in their script readings or physical training sessions, he always seemed attentive, supportive, and just a little different around her.

Perhaps it was nothing—or maybe, just maybe, it was something more.
