Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 304: Trial Run?

'What in the hell is happening…?'

Kael muttered inwardly, unable to believe what he was hearing. Every sentence the Future Kael spoke confused him even further.

All these things about Lesser Worlds, Creston protecting itself, Heroes, Monsters, Gates—it all gave him a headache.

Did this mean he was sent here to Nerathis as a Trial Run?

This was a Trial Run?

Sure, they called Nerathis the strongest lesser world, but still…

In a world where the very King is the enemy and the stronger enemies are still hiding… this… is a Trial Run?

'Then what kind of absurd threat is Creston facing?'

Kael wondered in his head and soon, he thought of those monstrous beings that held him down and slaughtered everyone right in front of him.

'It's… them?'

Kael's expression changed.

While he thought all this, the Future Kael continued. He could already see that they did not believe him, but it didn't matter. His focus was only on the blonde.

"Alaric, our actions have already destroyed all the lesser worlds. There is only one lesser world left. We cannot let it suffer the same fate as the others.

We cannot let Nerathis be destroyed."

He urged and…

Silence fell over the place.

The blonde, Alaric, was now hesitating. If Kael's words were indeed true, then their actions thus far would have…

"And why is that?"

Suddenly, another voice was heard.

Kael realized that it was the man who tried to stop Alaric from listening to him. Even after the big reveal, his expression hadn't changed. Rather, Kael could see that his disbelief had only grown.

"Why can't Nerathis be destroyed?

Because it is your world?

According to your theory, all of us have already lost our lesser worlds, correct? Then why should yours be spared?"

"…"

The Future Kael narrowed his eyes. He did not like where this was going.

"We have already committed to it, haven't we? Why not go all the way?"

The man questioned.

"What…?"

The Future Kael's expression became scarier. With his movement sealed, however, the man wasn't scared—he trusted the woman who was keeping the Dragon Lord in his place.

"Let's assume whatever you are saying is correct and our actions are redirecting the monsters to the lesser worlds. It means most of the damage is already done, isn't it?

Then why don't we follow through and destroy the last remaining world as well?"

"Talo—"

The Future Kael tried to say something, but—

"If we destroy all the Gates, that means we would close all the entrances, correct? Those monsters would then have no way to come to Creston, no?

It may sound cruel, yes, but at the very least, we will be able to save our world, no?

If you love humanity as much as you say, shouldn't you be willing to sacrifice your world in order to save it?

Why are you trying to stop us then?"

The man questioned back in a dismissive tone. It was clear that he was just throwing random words—he did not believe Kael in the first place.

But honestly, his words made sense.

At least to Kael.

The damage was already done, everyone had lost so much—if sacrificing a bit more would protect their world, who in their right mind would not go for it?

Sure, to Kael, this sounded cruel. After all, Nerathis was his world. There were people here he was close to—he would never want its destruction, not after desperately saving it from the threat it was facing.

But…

These other humans?

They were all from Creston. They have never even been to Nerathis—heck, they didn't even know the darn place existed before this.

Why would they risk their life for such a place?

From their perspective, destroying the Gate and letting Nerathis be devoured was indeed the best option.

Or at least, that was what Kael believed.

But—

"Because destroying all those worlds will not save humanity."

The Future Kael had a different opinion.

"Hu—"

Before the man could refute his words, the Future Kael continued,

"Even if we destroy the Final Gate and send the monsters to Nerathis, it wouldn't be the end of it."

The rest of the humans narrowed their eyes at those words, but the Future Kael ignored them all.

"Don't forget, these monsters are a foreign threat. The very fact that they got close to Creston means they know how to travel from one world to another.

What we are doing by destroying Gates is similar to blocking the road from our side. It might stop those monsters for a while, but…"

The Future Kael paused for a moment. Kael could sense his difficulty—it almost felt like he didn't wish to say what he was about to say.

"Once there are no more lesser worlds to destroy, all the monsters who crave destruction would move to the dimensional roads again. All those roads would then lead them to Creston, and if they try, it wouldn't be difficult for them to destroy our blockage and forcefully enter Creston."

"Hah? What bullshit is tha—"

The man was about to counter again but once again—

"I am saying that once Nerathis is destroyed, it will be our turn next!"

The Future Kael raised his voice, no longer able to control his anger.

"The monsters we redirected all this time would come to Creston together. If that happened, we will be facing a monster army so huge that we will be overwhelmed by their sheer numbers."

He shouted. His words made the man step back, his eyes widening in shock and… fear?

"Not to mention…"

The Future Kael momentarily turned silent, and Kael sensed his hesitation. He wasn't sure if he should be saying it or not.

"What is it? Speak."

Alaric ordered.

The Future Kael stared at him for a moment. Then, he glanced at the other three humans around him, until finally, he glanced at the woman who stood behind him, restricting his movement.

And the moment Kael's eyes fell on her—

They widened in shock.

'…Nerissa?'
