Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Jack: Who Will Live Longer Than Me?
No. 18: "You've always been like this since you were a kid—indifferent to everything around you."
No. 18: "If you were just a bit luckier, you could've raised your strength even higher."
No. 17: "I'm already satisfied. Being able to directly improve my strength is enough. How much I can improve... well, that depends on luck."
Krillin: "No. 17, you're surprisingly philosophical about this."
Master Roshi (Turtle Hermit): "Actually, No. 17 has the right mindset. Improvement is improvement. Even if you're not entirely satisfied with how much you've grown—and even if you don't get another chance—it's better to appreciate what you've already gained."
Master Roshi: "You young folks tend to be greedy sometimes. That dissatisfaction you feel... it's rooted in wanting too much."
Master Roshi: "I've been around a bit longer than most of you. Let me tell you—learning to be content and joyful will make life a whole lot easier."
Beerus: "What's this? Are we comparing lifespans now? Who's going to outlive who?"
Champa: "Oh, someone's trying to live longer than a God of Destruction? Now that's funny. @Turtle Hermit, how long have you lived? I'm curious."
Master Roshi: "Hey now, I didn't mean to spark a competition. I was just talking to Goku and the others."
Champa: "Still, I'm curious. How old are you exactly?"
Master Roshi: "Well… I'm over 300 years old now. Nearly 400."
Goku: "Wow! Master Roshi is the oldest person among all of us!"
Beerus: "I've got to admit, for a human, living a few hundred years is impressive."
Champa: "@Beerus, don't underestimate human lifespans. There are some humans out there who live for thousands of years."
Beerus: "Really? I never noticed that."
Vados: "Lord Beerus, you should know this—Hit from our Sixth Universe is a human too. He's over a thousand years old."
Hit: "That's right. I'm currently 1,000 years old."
Krillin: "The human body is fascinating. Some humans can live thousands of years, but people on Earth rarely make it past a hundred."
Krillin: "Well, except for Master Roshi. He's definitely the exception."
Tien: "Krillin, I agree. But technically, you're not even an Earthling anymore. You're a Saiyan now."
Krillin: "That's true… but it makes me wonder. Saiyans can stay young for a long time, right? So, how long do we live? Could it be a thousand years, like Hit?"
Vegeta: "@Krillin, you're thinking too far ahead. Saiyans don't live that long. At most, we make it just past 100 years. Not much different from Earthlings."
Vegeta: "But we do stay young longer. We age slower, so we look youthful far longer than Earthlings."
Goku: "@Vegeta, are you saying that Bulma looks old compared to you?"
Vegeta: "Cough… Kakarot, don't put words in my mouth! I didn't say that!"
Krillin: "Looks like Vegeta's afraid of Bulma."
No. 18: "So Krillin, what exactly are you implying?"
Krillin: "N-nothing! I mean… Vegeta isn't afraid of Bulma. He just respects her. That's it!"
Krillin (nervously): "Yeah… Just like me. We men, we don't fear our wives—we respect them!"
No. 18: "Hmph. You're quick on your feet, I'll give you that."
Champa: "So now we have a youngster who isn't even 400 years old, giving lectures to the rest of us like he's a wise old sage?"
Master Roshi: "@Champa, Lord Champa, I didn't mean to come across that way, really!"
Beerus: "@Champa, he already said he didn't mean it. Why are you still holding onto it?"
Beerus: "What? Do you want to outlive everyone else now? Fine, then I'll live longer than you. What do you have to say about that?"
Whis: "Actually, Lord Beerus… technically, I've lived longer than you."
Vados: "And I've lived longer than Whis—he is my younger brother after all."
Grand Priest: "If we're really talking about this, I guess I won't be sleeping tonight. As your father, I've obviously lived longer than either of you. Any objections?"
Jack: "Why is everyone suddenly talking about lifespan? If that's the case, then I've got something to say."
Jack: "Grand Priest, if I recall correctly, when I was still asleep, you had just appeared in the multiverse. Care to explain that?"
Grand Priest: "Lord Jack, you can't compare yourself to me. Besides Lord Zeno, there's no one else in this group older than you."
Jack: "I know you didn't mean it that way… but it sure sounds like you're calling me old."
Grand Priest (panicking): "No, no! Lord Jack, I would never imply that!"
King Zeno: "Jack, you've changed! Now you're bullying the Grand Priest!"
Jack: "Oh? Then are you saying I should bully you instead?"
---
The chat burst into laughter. The tension that had momentarily filled the group was gone.
Despite the banter, what really stood out in the conversation wasn't just who had lived the longest—but how differently each being saw the value of time.
Master Roshi, though much weaker than gods or ancient warriors, carried the wisdom of centuries.
Krillin, once an ordinary human, was now a Saiyan—wondering about his future, about whether he might live centuries longer than expected.
Vegeta, ever prideful, still feared the wrath of his wife.
Goku, as clueless as ever, had no sense of embarrassment when it came to teasing others.
And Jack—older than most of them, mysterious in his origin—seemed to be the only one who wasn't really afraid of anyone in the group.
In the end, it didn't matter who lived the longest.
What mattered was how they used the time they had.
And right now, with missions pending and power levels rising, no one could afford to waste even a second.
