Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Seeking the Namekians (Bonus)
"Try sensing from here."
Levos figured that maybe sensing from Earth would yield a different result than from King Kai's planet.
Goku raised his hand halfway but paused, scratching his head awkwardly. "Ah… thing is, I don't really know which direction that planet's in from Earth."
"Wait." Bulma suddenly thought of something. "We have a friend who's on New Namek right now. If we can get the coordinates from him, maybe we can pinpoint the location."
Levos immediately called the Galactic Patrol. "Put me through to Jaco."
After a few seconds of dial tone, an excited voice came through. "Levos! You were right. These Namekians aren't truly dead yet. What an incredibly resilient race!"
Hearing Jaco's familiar voice and good news, Levos relaxed a little. "Please send me the coordinates for New Namek."
As soon as they received the data, Bulma pointed to a direction without hesitation. "It's over there!"
Goku turned to face where she pointed, closed his eyes, and gently pressed two fingers to his forehead to focus.
But after standing still for quite a while, he still didn't move an inch.
"That's weird… I still can't lock onto it," Goku muttered.
"Maybe it's because the Namekians' life energy is too faint after being drained," Levos explained.
Goku opened his eyes and said seriously, "Yeah, that might be it. With the distance being so far and their energy so weak, I just can't teleport to them."
Levos frowned slightly. "What about Jaco? Can you sense his ki?"
"I don't know that guy," Goku admitted with an apologetic shrug. "I have to remember someone's energy signature to teleport to them."
"If only we could get closer…" Levos let out a small laugh, already starting to lose hope.
But Bulma snapped her fingers confidently. "You just reminded me, Levos! I might have a workaround to help Goku reach New Namek quickly."
Everyone turned to her, waiting for the plan.
Bulma grabbed her communicator. "Jaco, send me a list of inhabited planets between Earth and New Namek."
As she spoke to Jaco, her fingers danced across her laptop's keyboard. Within moments, the screen lit up with clusters of red dots.
She quickly finished and handed the laptop to Goku. "Teleport to this planet first, then this one. I've already plotted the route for you."
"Bulma, you're amazing!" Goku exclaimed in awe. "This way I can hop across planets until I get close enough to sense the Namekians."
Bulma smiled. "Levos reminded me. All credit to him."
Goku grinned. "You two really are in sync!"
Levos was left speechless. He and Bulma weren't even close like that. Calling it "in sync" felt a bit much…
Bulma rolled her eyes at Goku and shoved the laptop into his hands. "Just go. We'll wait for your message here."
Levos stepped forward too. "Safe travels, Goku."
Goku nodded, placed his fingers on his forehead again, and focused on the first target planet.
In the next instant, whoosh, he was gone.
But before anyone could even catch their breath, whoosh, he reappeared.
Scratching his head, Goku chuckled. "Uh… Bulma, I can't understand the route on this laptop."
Everyone facepalmed. Yep, that's Goku for you.
Bulma responded quickly. "Guess I'll just go with you then."
"No, I'll go with Goku," Levos said, stepping in. "You should stay here and wait for Baba, and keep an eye out for any news from Merus."
Bulma considered it, then nodded. "Alright. I'll keep training with Mr. Popo in the meantime. You two be careful."
Levos took the laptop from Goku and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Let's go, Goku."
Zzzt!
A flash of darkness swept past Levos's vision. When he opened his eyes again, they were already standing on a foreign planet.
There was no time to admire the scenery. He quickly looked at the laptop and used Bulma's marked route to guide Goku.
Zzzt!
Zzzt!
Zzzt!
Each teleport brought them closer. Between jumps, Levos kept a close eye on Goku's every move.
Instant Transmission was one of Dragon Ball's most iconic and awe-inspiring techniques. Levos had often dreamed about learning it himself and imagining all the cool ways he'd use it.
He'd gotten so excited just thinking about it that he'd lost sleep more than once.
After nearly ten minutes of jumping, they were nearing the final red dot on the map.
"Goku, we're getting really close now. Can you sense the Namekians' ki yet?" Levos asked.
Goku nodded slowly. "Yeah… I'm picking up some very faint signals. Get ready. This jump's going to be a long one!"
Zzzt!
Levos felt his entire body turn weightless, as if gravity itself had vanished.
But the moment passed in less than a second. His feet touched solid ground again.
The landscape before them was bleak and desolate. Wilted plants lay everywhere, and even the flowing river nearby seemed dull and lifeless.
They stood in what looked like a village.
All around them, Namekians lay collapsed on the ground, barely clinging to life.
Their arrival immediately drew attention from a nearby figure, who pulled out a blaster and pointed it at them.
"Easy. I'm Levos," he said calmly, raising his hands to show he meant no harm.
"You were on Earth. How are you here now?" the yellow-eyed man asked suspiciously.
"Hey! I'm Goku," the Saiyan greeted casually. "We came using Instant Transmission."
Jaco's expression turned serious. "Instant Transmission? That's a forbidden technique in the galaxy."
Levos smirked. "What, are you going to arrest us?"
"Well… since it's you guys, I'll pretend I didn't see anything." Jaco holstered his blaster and walked over, eyeing them up and down. "You two don't look that strong. What, running from danger? Finally realized how scary Earth is?"
"We came to bring a Namekian back to Earth," Levos explained, then gave a quick rundown of the situation.
Jaco rubbed his chin. "Staying off Earth was clearly the smart choice. That Evil Emperor's reputation is no joke. Even the Galactic Patrol's been buzzing about how terrifying he's gotten."
Goku's expression turned serious. "I'm going to defeat Frieza."
"It's not just Frieza. His entire army is a bunch of monsters," Jaco muttered. "You two must be out of your minds picking a fight with him."
"We have a plan," Levos replied. "Coming here is part of it."
