Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Secretly Learning Instant Transmission
Jaco immediately grew wary. "You better not be planning to use me for something! I've already done more than enough!"
Levos replied calmly, "Don't you want to earn merit and catch the Galactic King's attention?"
Arms crossed, Jaco huffed and said solemnly, "If my life's not in danger, I might consider helping."
Goku tilted his head, intrigued. "So you're saying you're strong?"
Jaco snorted. "By Earth standards, no one here could beat me."
"That's awesome! Wanna spar for a bit?" Goku grinned, bouncing on his toes, fists rubbing together in anticipation.
"Not now. We've got more important things to do," Levos quickly stopped him.
The power gap between them was far too wide. Levos was genuinely worried Goku might accidentally kill Jaco with a single punch.
"Right, these Namekians aren't dead yet, but they're in deep comas. If this goes on, they'll wither away like this dying planet," Jaco said with a rare trace of worry.
"Is there any way to treat them through the Galactic Patrol?" Levos asked urgently.
Jaco nodded proudly. "Of course! The Patrol has medics, healing pods, and even the best hospital in the galaxy!"
"Then why didn't you say so earlier?" Goku asked, scratching his head.
"My ship only fits two people. And you think traveling back to HQ is quick?" Jaco's tone pitched up in exasperation.
"Oops, sorry." Goku gave an embarrassed chuckle, then turned serious. "Well then, let's start moving them!"
"Moving who?" Jaco asked, confused.
"These Namekians, of course! Hehe!" Goku chuckled. "I can just Instant Transmission them to the hospital!"
Jaco rubbed his chin. "You know that's illegal, right? Using Instant Transmission across star systems is a major violation of galactic law!"
"Don't be such a stickler! Hehe." Goku gave him a friendly slap on the back.
BOOM!
With a loud crash, Jaco shot through the air and slammed straight into a mountain, embedding himself deep in the rock.
Levos covered his face with a sigh. Of course.
By the time Jaco climbed out, he was covered in dust and gravel. He clutched his sore waist, eyes wide with disbelief, lips twitching. What just happened? He hadn't even had time to react! How powerful was this Earthling?
"Ah, sorry about that," Goku scratched his head again. "I didn't mean to hit you that hard. It's been a while since I fought anyone… guess I lost control."
Levos quickly stepped in, wearing a concerned expression. "What he means is, next time he'll be more careful."
Goku leaned over and whispered, "Is that what I meant?"
Levos firmly nodded. "Yes. That's exactly what you meant."
Goku's reputation as Earth's most unpredictable powerhouse had to be preserved. This was no time to break character.
Jaco shot Goku a wary glance, then cleared his throat. "Since it's for saving lives, I guess I can look the other way about the whole Instant Transmission thing…"
"Great. Jaco, you go with Goku and escort the Namekians for treatment," Levos instructed. "I'll look for other survivors in nearby villages."
"Alright then, we'll head out." Goku nodded.
He grabbed four or five unconscious Namekians under each arm, then reached out with one hand toward Jaco.
Jaco sighed and placed his hand reluctantly on Goku's shoulder, pointing in the direction of the Galactic Patrol's facility.
FWIP.
The group vanished instantly.
Ever since learning how to sense ki, Levos had been practicing locking onto energy signatures, and after dozens of jumps across planets with Goku, he had begun to gain insight into Instant Transmission.
Imitating Goku's technique, Levos pressed two fingers to his forehead.
At the edge of his range, he sensed faint ki signals from about a dozen Namekians.
Let's try it.
If he succeeded, this would become a valuable ability in his arsenal.
Levos focused intensely.
FWIP.
Darkness.
The world spun around him violently.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in a completely unfamiliar wasteland.
Levos concentrated and tried sensing the energy in the area.
"…Way off target," he muttered with a sigh.
Let's give it another go.
This time, he closed his eyes, settling his mind in complete stillness.
Gradually, the surroundings became more vivid in his perception.
Then suddenly, a flash of clarity!
He visualized a group of Namekians lying unconscious on the ground.
Now!
FWIP.
When Levos opened his eyes again, he found himself inside a cave.
Around his feet lay over a dozen Namekians, all unconscious but still alive.
It worked!
Suppressing the excitement bubbling inside, Levos carefully checked each of their conditions.
Thankfully, they were all still breathing.
It seemed Moro had left after making his wish and stealing their life force. Otherwise, the entire Namekian race might've gone extinct.
Wait a second.
Levos smacked his forehead.
He'd forgotten someone an important survivor, another Namekian who had once created Dragon Balls.
But was he still alive? And had his planet been attacked too?
Levos didn't have the ability to find that out yet. He'd have to ask Jaco later.
With some time to spare, he decided to keep practicing Instant Transmission.
This planet had already lost its flora and fauna. The Namekians were safe for now, hidden inside the cave.
After disguising the entrance with some makeshift camouflage, Levos focused again, searching for the next cluster of survivors.
Got one.
Only one faint signal this time.
Levos repeated the same motions and vanished.
FWIP.
Before he could even open his eyes, the thick stench of blood hit him.
He gagged instinctively and forced himself to stay calm.
Looking around, he saw a young Namekian's corpse at his feet, a gaping hole in his chest spilling dark purple blood.
Nearby, another Namekian boy lay face-down with a metal translator strapped to his head.
The entire village in the distance had clearly been massacred.
Severed limbs, shredded flesh, blood splattered everywhere.
It looked like dozens of Namekians had once lived here. Now, none remained.
Levos quietly covered his mouth and nose, frowning.
Why was this place different? Other villages had just been drained of energy. But this one…
This had to be where Moro made his wish.
And the boy with the translator? He was likely captured and forced to serve as the intermediary, speaking to Porunga, the Namekian Dragon.
That meant this boy might know exactly what Moro wished for.
