Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Jiora's Style

West City, Bulma's House.

Laboratory Building.

Yes, she has a dedicated laboratory building…

Of course, like most buildings on Earth, it's a hemisphere-shaped structure. To Yamiru, it always seemed kind of ugly, resembling an upside-down broken bowl on the ground. But, on second thought, if you consider the somewhat quirky style of Akira Toriyama, it might just be a proud structure standing on the horizon, a unique design. Seeing it this way, it no longer seemed ugly; in fact, it was quite beautiful…

"Are all of Earth's scientists like this?" Jiora asked, stunned.

At the top of the laboratory building, on the ring of the hemisphere with the least number of usable rooms, Jiora stood in awe looking through the large glass windows at the father and daughter inside, swiftly dismantling the spacecraft in ways Jiora couldn't quite comprehend.

Yamiru replied, "The two inside are probably among the smartest people on this planet. You can stop being amazed, my alien friend."

Jiora sighed, "I used to think you were exaggerating… I didn't expect there to be geniuses who defy all reason." After a pause, he glanced at Bulma, who was in the lab wearing a white lab coat, moving small stools and seriously discussing the disassembled spacecraft with her father.

"A genius like this, I really want to take her back to my home planet..." Jiora thought, taking a deep breath. He turned to Yamiru and said, "Alright, Dr. Brief has promised that the gold worth seventeen million will be delivered in a couple of days, and I've got my wish. Dr. Brief has his spacecraft. Now… I guess it's time to talk about what you need."

"Can't I just be doing a good deed for no reason?" Yamiru smiled.

"If you don't need anything, then I'll just have to give you something myself." Jiora said seriously, "I am the only Biretijonian on Earth, and I can't lose face for my planet in front of humans…" As he said this, he couldn't help but chuckle under Yamiru's subtle gaze, then turned serious and said, "But seriously, I do want to thank you. If it weren't for you, it might have been a long time before I had the chance to return."

Yamiru joked, "Who's to say? With your way of doing good deeds for tips, how long would it take you to gather seventeen million? Unless you happen to stumble upon a billion-dollar robbery or something…" He was thinking about the billion-yen heist in Detective Conan, a common scenario for many transmigrators to make money and raise favorability with characters like Haibara Ai.

"But actually, I'm not really doing good deeds for the sake of it. Helping you has its benefits for me…" Yamiru paused, then sincerely said, "I want to ask you to teach me martial arts."

"Martial arts?" Jiora didn't immediately understand the term. After a moment's thought, he realized, "You mean, teach you combat skills?"

Yamiru felt that "martial arts" and "combat skills" weren't exactly the same, but he could only nod. "Yeah, more or less."

Jiora still didn't understand. "I see your power... among Earthlings, it's already quite impressive. You still want to learn more?"

Jiora looked at Yamiru with a slight frown, processing his words. After a moment, he crossed his arms and spoke in a serious tone.

"You want me to teach you combat techniques? I have to say, your request is unexpected. But... I suppose I can understand why you'd seek guidance from someone like me."

Yamiru raised an eyebrow, sensing that Jiora might be more thoughtful than he had initially assumed. Jiora continued, his voice steady and calm.

"I may not know about Ki, but I've seen enough battles to understand the flow of energy and strength. What you're asking for isn't just about learning techniques—it's about understanding the essence of combat itself, isn't it?"

Yamiru nodded. "Exactly. It's not just about strength. It's about how to channel it, how to control it."

Jiora seemed to consider this for a moment, then gave a slow nod. "Very well. I'll teach you what I know. But be warned—it won't be easy. Combat isn't just about physical power; it's about mindset, perception, and experience. You're willing to learn all of that, right?"

Yamiru smiled. "I've been through worse. I'm ready for whatever it takes."

---

The tension in the air thickened as Yamiru stood firm, staring at Jiora. The vast garden around them seemed to shrink in comparison to the pressure that weighed down on Yamiru from the towering alien before him.

Jiora didn't waste a second. In a flash, he lunged forward, his movements fluid yet forceful, as if his entire body was a coiled spring ready to release. Yamiru barely had time to react, instinctively stepping back to avoid the powerful strike aimed at his chest.

"Not bad," Jiora remarked, a glint of approval in his eyes as he observed Yamiru's reflexes. "But you need more than just quick feet. You need to be able to read your opponent's intent."

Yamiru gritted his teeth, regaining his balance. His mind raced—Jiora's speed was impressive, but Yamiru had dealt with opponents who were just as fast. The trick was in controlling the flow of the fight, anticipating each move, and countering it with precision.

Without warning, Yamiru surged forward, utilizing the momentum of his step to launch a rapid jab aimed at Jiora's midsection. Jiora sidestepped easily, his movements almost too effortless.

"You have power, but your technique is too straightforward," Jiora said calmly, his tone unwavering as he casually deflected the punch. "In a real fight, that would have been your downfall."

Yamiru paused, catching his breath. His mind was already analyzing the situation—he needed to adapt, to refine his style, and he knew Jiora was the perfect teacher to do that.

"You want to learn?" Jiora asked, his voice almost playful as he prepared for another attack. "Then show me what you've got. But don't hold back."

The challenge hung in the air, and Yamiru could feel the anticipation rising within him. With a determined look in his eyes, he squared up and braced for the next round. This was more than just a fight—it was the beginning of his path toward mastering the art of combat.
