Chapter 33: Di Tian
They had arrived at the heart of Star Dou Forest.
A wide, mist-covered lake stretched out before them, ancient and serene.
"Da Ming! Er Ming! I'm back!" Xiao Wu shouted excitedly, her voice echoing across the surface of the lake.
Suddenly, the surface of the lake trembled.
Waves rippled outward in all directions, and a massive form emerged from beneath the water.
Wu Lan stood still, his silver eyes calm and unshaken.
The surface of the lake shimmered with silver-blue ripples as the enormous bull-headed serpent rose from the depths. His horns gleamed in the sunlight, and his enormous green eyes softened when he saw the rabbit-eared girl by the shore.
"Xiao Wu?"
"I'm back, Da Ming!" Xiao Wu called joyfully, rushing forward.
The Titan Giant Serpent, Da Ming, lowered his massive head, allowing Xiao Wu to pet the smooth scales between his eyes. He gave a low, comforting growl.
But his gaze soon shifted.
The moment their eyes met, the air around the lake grew heavy.
Wu Lan stood calmly, hands behind his back. His silver eyes stared back without fear.
Da Ming narrowed his gaze. A faint rumble echoed from his throat, and spiritual pressure rolled across the field like a storm.
Wu Lan felt immense pressure from the two-hundred-thousand-year soul beast. So, he released the Golden Dragon bloodline to withstand it. Instantly, his entire aura changed, and Wu Lan did not retreat. Instead, Da Ming who had a trace of dragon blood was the one who retreated slightly. The instinctive pressure of an incomplete yet supremely noble dragon bloodline coiled around Wu Lan like a divine aura.
"...That bloodline..." Da Ming muttered in a low voice, almost inaudible.
The moment the bloodline was released...
In a vast, empty white dimension...
The Silver Dragon King slowly opened her eyes once more.
A faint smile curved her lips."He is coming."
Her voice was soft, yet carried an ancient weight. Then she called out:
"Di Tian."
A tall, regal man appeared before her. His long black hair fell like a waterfall down his back. Golden eyes glimmered with power. He wore a cloak adorned with dragon scales, and every movement radiated nobility and strength.
Yet at this moment, he was kneeling on one knee before her.
"Master, what are your orders?" he asked with reverence.
"My other half is approaching. Go and invite him."
Di Tian's eyes widened in shock, but he did not question her."Yes, Master."
With a deep bow, he disappeared into the void, heading toward the forest.
The Silver Dragon King looked once more in Wu Lan's direction, her eyes filled with curiosity and something else, something softer.
Meanwhile, Xiao Wu stepped between them.
"Da Ming, stop! He's my brother. He's not an enemy."
The pressure vanished instantly.
Da Ming blinked in surprise, then slowly nodded."I see."
A rustle came from the trees.
An enormous shadow bounded into the clearing, a towering figure covered in silver-black fur. His eyes burned with simple, honest strength.
Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape.
He had felt a powerful aura and was shouting angrily, while rushing toward them.
"Who?!"
But the moment he saw Xiao Wu, he forgot about the threat and rushed toward her.
"Xiao Wu!" he shouted in joy.
"Er Ming!" Xiao Wu jumped into his massive hand as he caught her gently, spinning once before setting her down.
While Wu Lan and Da Ming were left alone,
Da Ming looked toward Wu Lan and asked,
"Human, you and Xiao Wu..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a void crack appeared in the air, and a man stepped out wearing a cloak adorned with dragon scales. Every movement radiated nobility and strength.
Wu Lan instantly recognized him as Di Tian.
He guessed: Gu Yuena sensed my bloodline and sent Di Tian.
Both Da Ming and Er Ming instantly froze.
"...Di Tian..." Da Ming muttered warily, wondering why he had appeared.
Xiao Wu was confused seeing him.
Di Tian, who had also sensed the incomplete yet noble dragon bloodline on Wu Lan, came before him and knelt on one knee.
"...My king."
The forest fell utterly silent.
Di Tian's deep voice echoed through the glade.
"I am Di Tian, the Beast God. Under the order of my master, the Silver Dragon King, your other half, I have come to invite you, Golden Dragon King, to meet with her once more."
When Xiao Wu heard 'other half', her heart tightened.
Da Ming's expression changed drastically.
After hearing this, Wu Lan was stunned.
They think my bloodline is real…
The Golden Dragon King one half of the original Dragon God, the male embodiment of strength, destruction.
And the Silver Dragon King his female counterpart, the embodiment of Creation, elemental mastery.
Together, they were the Dragon God until he fell.
Wu Lan had inherited fragments of the Golden Dragon bloodline by healing Yu Xiaogang. But to the world, it looked genuine.
Even Gu Yuena had been fooled.
He had expected to be treated as a descendant of the Golden Dragon King and gain some protection.
But Silver Dragon King's other half?
That's… crazy.
So he smiled.
"...I see. Then, please lead the way."
Di Tian stood up and prepared to lead him to Gu Yuena.
Wu Lan turned to Xiao Wu.
"Rabbit, wait here. I'll return soon."
But the moment he said those words…
Xiao Wu stiffened.
"Wait… Brother, what did he mean by 'your other half'?" Xiao Wu asked, her voice trembling slightly.
But Wu Lan just smiled."I'll explain everything later."
And with that, he disappeared into the forest with Di Tian, who stepped into a swirling dimensional ripple, vanishing with him.
Back at the lake, silence reigned.
Xiao Wu stared at the place where he disappeared, her heart pounding with anxiety.
"...Da Ming," Xiao Wu whispered. "What's going on?"
Da Ming let out a low, rumbling sigh.
"You… should be prepared. That dragon blood in him is real or at least, close enough that it may as well be. That pressure… it's more powerful than Di Tian's bloodline. From his words, his bloodline belongs to the legendary Golden Dragon King. The Golden Dragon King was the Dragon God's might destruction and power. The Silver Dragon King was Creation, elemental mastery. But… together, they were one being. The rulers of all soul beasts."
Da Ming looked at her seriously.
"If the Silver Dragon King truly believes he is her other half… and he doesn't deny it…"
Xiao Wu clenched her fists.
"...Then she might try to take him away."
Xiao Wu fell silent.
She looked up at the sky, her chest tightening.
"...Brother… come back soon."
