Douluo Dalu 3: Purple-Gold Dragon God

Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Survival Test

Ten opponents!

Shen Yi had already arranged this while they were doing the seventh test, so the moment they entered, they saw the ten opponents standing there.

"This battle will be one-on-one, and you can choose your opponent freely. This test doesn't just measure your strength, it also tests your judgment. Among these ten, there are definitely stronger and weaker ones."

The ten before them were only one year older, seemingly close in age, but all of them were undoubtedly geniuses who had scored over sixty points to get into Shrek Academy a year ago and had trained for three full years.

Gu You honestly felt no interest in competing anymore. 'This kind of fight is just boring. If the opponent were a Title Douluo, maybe I'd take it seriously.'

After an exhilarating but slightly strange series of matches, as expected, everyone except Xie Xie got full marks.

"I seriously can't take this!" Xie Xie shouted in frustration as they headed toward the next test site. "Why did you all end up picking the weak opponents, while the one I chose was ridiculously strong?"

"That's not about luck," Gu Yue said with a slight bend at her waist, teasing. "It just means you're not good enough."

"Ah! You're driving me crazy! Why do you always target me?" Xie Xie scratched his head in frustration. Ever since they first met, Gu Yue had never given him a good look.

"It's your personality," Gu Yue said calmly, then walked away.

The final test site was a small room. Following Shen Yi inside, they noticed that unlike the previous testing areas, this room was dimly lit, with no luxurious decorations. The walls and ceiling were all made of metal, and several large screens hung on the walls.

"Survival. That's the goal of your ninth test. I'm sure you've been inside the Spirit Ascension Platform before. This is similar, but the soul beasts inside here are real. If you happen to be at a bottleneck, killing them can get you spirit rings and other spoils. From here on, it's all up to your own abilities. Get ready to enter." Shen Yi gave a few reminders, then moved aside to press a button, and one by one, metallic pods — very similar to those in the Spirit Ascension Platform — slid out.

'A replica version?' Gu You felt genuinely curious about this technology.

Previously, Xie Xie had only scored three points in the last test, leaving him somewhat dissatisfied. Hearing the content of the ninth test, he immediately declared, "This time, I'll crush it!"

"Once we go in, will we all be together?" Xu Xiaoyan asked nervously, glancing at Shen Yi. She clearly didn't want to face soul beasts alone.

Shen Yi gave her a meaningful look. "Yes. No matter how many people take the test, you'll be grouped together. This test isn't just about survival skills — it's also about testing your teamwork. Since you all came as a group, you have an advantage here. Good luck."

Everyone was clearly more excited now. With Gu You here, the harvest this time would definitely be massive.

'This is practically free loot. Even if the academy increases the difficulty, so what? Gu You can one-shot twenty-thousand-year soul beasts. Could they possibly throw in a hundred-thousand-year beast?'

They entered the metal pods, and with a hiss, the doors closed — the ninth test officially began.

Once the pods sealed, two people entered the room outside. One of them was Cai Yue'er, the Silver Moon Douluo.

With her came an elder, tall and broad-shouldered, with a high nose and deep-set blue eyes. His long white hair fell loosely over his shoulders, and a powerful aura radiated from him, the kind of presence that seemed like it could suppress a whole world. This was Zhuo Shi. His appearance had clearly changed a lot over the past few years — Gu You wondered, 'What's going on at the academy? Why does everyone seem to have turned white-haired?'

"Teacher," Shen Yi greeted respectfully, bowing slightly.

Zhuo Shi nodded. "Aside from him, how did the others perform?"

Shen Yi thought carefully, then chose the most accurate word. "Beyond imagination."

Silver Moon Douluo smiled. "Yes, they're beyond imagination — especially that Gu Yue. It's a shame she already has a master, or else, no matter the cost, I would have taken her under my wing."

Shen Yi lowered her voice. "Teacher, what difficulty level should we use for them?"

Without hesitation, Zhuo Shi replied, "Maximum level."

Shen Yi nodded. Only the highest difficulty would have any chance of limiting Gu You.

But no matter what, the academy was destined to lose this round. With Gu You's personality, no matter how strong the opponents were, he wouldn't leave without raking in as many benefits as possible.

A twisting sensation spread around them, and with a flash of light, five figures appeared in the middle of a completely new world.

It truly resembled the Spirit Ascension Platform — a dense, ancient forest. But this place felt even older, as if it belonged to a time over ten thousand years ago, likely still part of the Star Dou Forest.

Naturally, Gu You was the strongest, and the others willingly followed his lead. After walking for a while, they reached a small hill, where the view opened up and they could see much farther.

Everything remained quiet. There were no disturbances, no signs of anything approaching.

'Something feels off.' Gu You raised a hand, frowning, signaling the group to stay alert.

Tang Wulin released Blue Silver Grass, spreading it out around them to cover the area.

Gu Yue summoned her Wind Bird to scout at a distance.

The remaining three also activated their spirit powers.

Suddenly, a deep, resonant roar echoed from far away.

The instant the roar rang out, even Gu You's face shifted slightly.

'At least sixty or seventy thousand years.'

"W-what was that sound? That's terrifying! Should we really go over there?" Xie Xie's face turned pale, his expression filled with dread as he looked toward Gu You.

Everyone else also turned to him. As long as Gu You gave the word, they would follow without hesitation. By now, Gu You had firmly become the strongest pillar in their hearts, the big brother figure they could rely on completely. Even Tang Wulin felt a bit conflicted. His father, Old Tang, had told him to stay away from Gu You, but every time he followed Gu You, it seemed like he gained more. At this moment, Tang Wulin's view of Old Tang dropped just a little.

"Go. Why wouldn't we?" Gu You smirked, tilting his head slightly. "This is a huge opportunity. Miss it, and you'll regret it. I can sense Xiaoyan's spirit power is already close to level 30. How about going for a ten-thousand-year spirit ring?"

"But… Xiaoyan's body and mind can't handle that!" Xie Xie panicked. Wasn't Gu You basically sending Xu Xiaoyan to her death by telling her to absorb a ten-thousand-year ring?

"Gu-ge, I really can't. A ten-thousand-year spirit ring is like an uncrossable chasm for me. I…"
