Devouring Demons in Demon Slayer

The {spider-faced demon} swung an arm at Inosuke. Inosuke, attacking from the air, couldn't dodge. Although his blades struck the arm, the demon's force sent Inosuke flying.

He skipped across the water like a stone before sinking about twenty meters from the demon.

After a moment, Inosuke emerged, groaning in pain. "That was powerful! A hit to a vital point would have killed me!"

"That attack wasn't strong enough! I'm dizzy from blood loss!"

Inosuke had indeed struck the {demon}, but the difference in strength was too great. He was sent flying the moment he made contact. With greater strength, he wouldn't have been thrown.

Inosuke's attack drew the {demon}'s attention; it ignored Tanjiro and charged at Inosuke.

"Damn it!" Inosuke cursed, choosing to retreat.

While fleeing wasn't his style, he wasn't foolish. Against such a powerful opponent, retreat was the only option—a survival instinct.

Tanjiro followed along the riverbank.

Seeing the {demon} close in on Inosuke, Tanjiro needed a way to restrain it.

After some thought, he devised a plan.

He calculated the trajectory and sprinted toward a large tree.

"Water Breathing, First Form, Water Surface Slash!"

He struck the tree trunk at a forty-five-degree angle.

This angled cut would speed up the fall and control its direction.

The tree began to fall toward the river.

Without precise calculation, this tactic could have failed or injured Inosuke.

"Thump!"

The massive tree crashed onto the {demon}, submerging it. A huge wave and spray erupted. Inosuke, close to the tree, was knocked into the water.

Tanjiro's calculations were correct; the tree both restrained the {demon} and didn't harm Inosuke.

Resurfacing, Inosuke stared at the fallen tree, which now blocked the river.

"What happened?" Inosuke was bewildered. Why had the tree fallen?

"Inosuke, are you alright?" Tanjiro's concerned voice reached him.

Inosuke looked and saw Tanjiro standing near the base of the felled tree.

"He did that? Not bad… Damn it!" Inosuke grudgingly acknowledged Tanjiro's skill.
