Demon Slayer: The Tenth Hashira with Dōjutsu

Chapter 56: DSWS: Chapter 56

"Two Hashira Battle an Upper Moon"

Looking at the sky, Aoki knew they had limited time until dawn. Their previous clash, though intense and fast-paced, had been a mere exchange of blows; neither side had used their full power.

Based on their initial exchange, Aoki doubted they could hold out until dawn. Even with Rengoku Kyōjurō, a prolonged fight against Akaza, who didn't need to worry about injuries or stamina, would be disadvantageous.

Their best bet was to force Akaza to retreat. While strategic delay until dawn was possible, killing him was highly improbable; even Aoki lacked confidence in achieving that.

"Rengoku-san, this guy is terrifyingly strong. I'll hold him off; you aim for his head," Aoki said grimly, gripping his Nichirin Sword.

"Understood! Fighting alongside you is exhilarating! Once we return to headquarters, I'll request a commendation for you from the Master!"

Rengoku Kyōjurō declared. He recognized that Aoki's strength was barely sufficient to participate in this fight, yet Aoki had already proven capable of threatening Akaza's life.

While before Rengoku Kyōjurō merely acknowledged Aoki's Hashira status, now he felt a surge of respect.

Ignoring Rengoku Kyōjurō, Aoki pulled seven Flying Thunder God kunai from his pouch, scattering them at various distances from Akaza.

With his Susanoo (second form) activated, Aoki prepared for a more strategic engagement with Akaza.

After performing a Total Concentration Breathing, Aoki launched himself at Akaza.

"Wind-Form Swordsmanship: Steel-Cutting Flash!"

Blue energy surged from his Nichirin Sword, manipulating the air currents as he aimed for Akaza's neck.

"Clang!"

The Nichirin Sword struck Akaza's shoulder, the air blade tearing through his flesh. Akaza, however, showed no sign of pain, merely a strange smile.

"I've killed many Hashira, but never a Flame Hashira. You… don't seem to use one of the five original Breathing Forms.

Is that why you're so weak?" Akaza grinned, grabbing Aoki's sword and snapping it clean in half.

"Destructive Death: Disorder!"

Akaza unleashed a flurry of blows, each punch leaving a dent in Susanoo's surface. While not shattering it, at this rate, Susanoo's destruction seemed inevitable.

"Breath of Devouring, Ninth Form: Divine Punishment!"

To prevent Susanoo's destruction, Aoki reacted swiftly. Black energy surrounded his broken Nichirin Sword as he unleashed a powerful black storm.

The storm centered on Aoki and Akaza. It didn't harm Aoki, but with his broken sword, the attack's power was greatly reduced, only inflicting superficial wounds on Akaza, which healed instantly. The only real benefit was the increased distance.

"Damn it! My Nichirin Sword's broken again!" Aoki cursed, losing at least half his fighting power.

"Aoki, let's fight together. This guy is incredibly strong. I can't defeat him alone, but with you, we have a better chance.

I'm not saying we're weak; I'm stating a fact!" Rengoku Kyōjurō said, moving closer.

"No choice. My sword's broken. Let's do this," Aoki sighed.

The three clashed again, their movements too fast to follow, only the sounds of clashing metal audible.

"Destructive Death: Final Form: Blue Silver Chaotic Afterglow!"

"Flame Breathing, Fifth Form: Flame Tiger!"

"Breath of Devouring, Seventh Form: Wicked Yanmo!"

White, gold, and crimson energy clashed, creating a deafening roar and a blinding storm of smoke.

When the smoke cleared, the three still stood, but Aoki and Rengoku Kyōjurō showed clear signs of exhaustion.

In less than a minute, they'd exchanged hundreds of blows. While Akaza was initially on the defensive, he'd stabilized, gaining the upper hand.

Even together, Aoki and Rengoku Kyōjurō struggled to overpower him.

"Dawn's approaching. Let's end this. You're both Hashira; one of you will die here," Akaza grinned cruelly, his eyes fixed on the brightening horizon.

Gasping for breath, sweat pouring down his face, Aoki threw a Flying Thunder God kunai at Akaza.

Akaza caught it effortlessly.

"The same trick won't work twice," Akaza sneered, crushing the kunai into fragments.

However, Akaza didn't realize Aoki's repetition wasn't a surprise attack, but a setup for his ultimate move.

Aoki closed his eyes, a terrifying aura building. Blood welled in his right eye. He opened his eyes, his Mangekyō Sharingan now heavily bloodshot.

"Mangekyō Sharingan, Amaterasu!"
