Chat group, become my wings!

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: The Challenge

"@Group Leader, I'm willing to formally join your harem chat group. But if you want me to truly become your woman, then you'll have to defeat me first," Esdeath declared in the group chat.

"No problem. Honestly, I'm not in that much of a rush. Most of the members in the chat group are only harem members in name anyway. It's not like I've had any real relationship with most of them," Kevin Cross replied casually.

At the very beginning, sure, Kevin had been a little too eager. After all, he'd been a two-lifetime virgin of course he'd be impatient.

But once he'd become a real man, that urgency faded.

They were already part of his harem chat group. No one was going anywhere. So what was the rush? He could take his time. Whether things developed naturally or after some emotional buildup, it was just a matter of timing.

Besides, the number of people in the group was only going to grow. Sooner or later, there would be women with incredibly long lifespans, maybe even true immortals. When that day came, someone was bound to approach him of their own accord if not for love, then for the promise of eternal life.

So Kevin really wasn't in a hurry. Just like with Sakura Matou he could wait for her to grow up. He didn't believe for a second that Esdeath would be harder to win over than Sakura.

Esdeath didn't hesitate after reading Kevin's reply. She decisively chose to officially join the chat group.

As soon as she completed her formal entry, she claimed her first sign-in reward.

"Esdeath has signed in and received 65 points."

Not great, not terrible. A solidly average score definitely not lucky, but not cursed either.

Brunhilde had been waiting for this moment, curious to see what kind of score Esdeath would get. When she saw the result, her face darkened. She was still at the bottom. It looked like nothing was going to change that. Well, at least not yet. But she refused to believe she'd stay a "misfortune magnet" forever. Someday, someone with even worse luck would join the group, and she'd finally shed the title.

Esdeath, on the other hand, knew that 65 points wasn't much, but she still chose to use them for a power-up. She wanted to test the system, to see if the strengthening effect was real.

If it was, she would stop at nothing to get more points whether through daily sign-ins, completing missions, or even stealing points from others if the group allowed it. She'd do whatever it took.

After spending the points, Esdeath focused carefully on the sensations in her body. When the enhancement process ended, she could feel it a subtle but unmistakable increase in her power. It was faint, nearly imperceptible, but it was real.

Her eyes lit up with a growing, fiery obsession.

Points that could truly make her stronger she would find a way to collect as many as possible.

"@Group Leader. Now that I've officially joined your harem, how about a fight? If you win, I'll become your woman tonight," Esdeath messaged, brimming with excitement.

"A fight, huh? That's so like you, Esdeath," Kevin said with a laugh. She was the only one who, immediately after joining and enabling world travel, challenged him to a battle.

"Wait, they're going to fight? For real? Oh, I'm so excited! I wish I could watch! Why doesn't the chat group have a livestream feature?" Kumoko cried out in frustration.

"If you're looking for a fight, Esdeath, I'll take you on," said Izumi Uchiha, stepping forward.

There were two reasons Izumi volunteered. First, she respected Esdeath's power her Imperial Arm, the Demon's Extract, far surpassed even the bloodline limit of Ice Release from her own world. She wanted to fight someone like that to gain experience and maybe even grow stronger.

The second reason was that she didn't want Kevin to fight Esdeath.

After all, while Kevin might possess her full strength, plus Saeko Busujima's sword skills and Shinobu Kocho's Insect Breathing, he had grown up in a peaceful world. Even after arriving in gun-crazy New York, he still lacked real battle experience.

Fighting weaker opponents would give him time to develop his instincts, but Esdeath was in a whole different league.

Not only was Esdeath incredibly strong, but her Imperial Arm could freeze time itself. She'd grown up hunting beasts and survived countless life-and-death battles. Izumi doubted even most seasoned shinobi had as much combat experience.

And Esdeath wasn't just a fighter she was a battle maniac. People like her were terrifying in cross-tier battles.

Kevin had decent strength, sure, but facing someone like her meant only one thing: he'd lose, maybe badly.

Izumi didn't think Esdeath would actually hurt Kevin, but she still didn't want to see him defeated.

"You want to fight me? Fine. After I'm done with the group leader, I'll fight you next," Esdeath said, eyes sparkling. She didn't care about the reason. As long as she got a battle, she was happy.

Izumi frowned. "Kevin comes from a peaceful world. He's not used to fighting and lacks experience. Going up against someone like you is almost guaranteed to end in defeat."

"What? So he should just hide because he can't win? That's not what a true warrior does," Esdeath said, her voice growing cold. If her man turned out to be a coward, she wouldn't acknowledge him even in name.

"Don't worry, Izumi. This is something I have to go through eventually. Besides, I want to see just how far behind I really am when it comes to combat experience. I mean, I'm the only man in this group, and I've got abilities none of you have. If I can't become number one here, then what am I even doing?"
