Chapter 75: Chapter 75: A Preference for Curves

Back when Kevin Cross first started watching Akame ga Kill, the character who immediately caught his attention wasn't Akame or Mine it was Leone.

Her outgoing personality, her penchant for free meals, her wild charm... and, well, her generously endowed figure. Sure, she wasn't the main heroine, but Kevin found her far more captivating.

His second favorite among Night Raid? That would be Sheele the absentminded, soft-spoken girl who could barely remember if she'd eaten. Why? Partly because her airheaded demeanor had its own charm. But mostly, it was because of her body. She was stunningly curvy, especially in the hips.

Both Leone and Sheele had great character designs, attractive appearances, and enviable figures. So why were they just supporting characters, while flat-chested Akame and Mine took the spotlight? Was the author of the manga secretly obsessed with petite girls?

Sorry, but Kevin wasn't a fan of flat chests. He liked full curves. Of course, if a girl was incredibly beautiful, then bust size wasn't everything. But if you lined up two gorgeous women one voluptuous and the other flat Kevin knew which one he'd prefer.

Hearing Kevin express this so plainly, Esdeath's eyes lit up with interest.

She had watched the entirety of Akame ga Kill and wasn't particularly concerned with the fact that she ended up in a romantic subplot with that weakling Tatsumi. For all she knew, maybe she really would get a little crazy someday and feel like falling in love. The kind of man didn't matter much.

But what did matter to her what mattered deeply was combat.

How could someone as strong as her fall to Akame, of all people? Sure, Akame had that one-hit-kill Teigu, Murasame, but even so... Esdeath had never believed she would lose.

Yet in the end, she did.

Was it because she was heartbroken after Tatsumi's death? Did she subconsciously throw the fight because she no longer had the will to live?

These were the doubts that haunted her after watching the anime. Esdeath simply couldn't understand why love would drive her to such lengths. After all, in her current state of mind, she had no interest in romance whatsoever.

But when Kevin casually described it as "scripted death" a "plot-kill" designed to forcibly remove a character too powerful for the story to handle everything clicked.

It made perfect sense. When a character becomes too strong, the writer has to come up with some contrived excuse to take them out. Esdeath had been a victim of that narrative convenience.

She remembered what Najenda had said in the story: that defeating Esdeath would require at least fifty thousand soldiers and ten Imperial Arms users, including Akame. And that was before Esdeath had even awakened her ultimate technique, Mahapadma a move capable of freezing time and space itself. If she had accessed that ability earlier, she would've been unstoppable.

And yet she lost to a single, souped-up Akame? The excuse was that Akame was moving so fast, she left afterimages... but even so, it didn't sit right.

"Scripted death, huh? That's a pretty accurate way of putting it." Esdeath narrowed her eyes with a smile. In fiction, she'd been nerfed for the sake of the plot but in reality, now that she had access to the multiverse chat group, she could grow even stronger. She could gain powers from other worlds. When that happened, what could Akame possibly do to her?

Just thinking about becoming stronger made Esdeath lick her lips, her eyes gleaming with ambition.

To her, power and battle were everything.

And in her own world, she was already the strongest human alive. Akame had been a decent rival, sure, but nowhere near enough. Worse still, Esdeath felt like she had already hit her world's ceiling. No more breakthroughs, no worthy opponents. Stagnation.

So when the chat group appeared, it was nothing short of a godsend a dream come true.

Especially after she'd finished Akame ga Kill, Esdeath had explored other anime worlds introduced through the chat.

The Naruto world, for example, where Uchiha Izumi hailed from. There were all sorts of bizarre and brilliant jutsu. And toward the end of that timeline, monsters like Kaguya Otsutsuki who had achieved immortality emerged. Though personally, Esdeath was more drawn to Madara in his Six Paths form. Now that was a fight she wanted.

Then there was Brunhilde's world, where gods and mortals clashed in combat. Esdeath found that equally thrilling. She wanted to test herself against beings like Thor, Zeus, even Poseidon even if he'd supposedly died at the hands of a mere swordsman. That just made her want to see for herself how strong or weak they truly were.

And let's not forget the world of the Holy Grail War, where Matou Sakura lived. The Servants in that world, beings formed from myth and legend, possessed immense strength and mysterious Noble Phantasms. They were practically demigods.

These worlds were full of powerful enemies, and Esdeath was dying to fight them all.

She knew her own limits too. Some of those enemies she might be able to defeat. Others? Maybe not. Some would absolutely wipe the floor with her.

But that didn't matter.

What mattered was the fight. The challenge. The thrill.

Esdeath narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "So... if I want to grow stronger, if I want to battle warriors from other worlds... I'll have to officially join the Harem Chat Group? I'll have to become Kevin Cross's woman?"

In truth, Esdeath wasn't particularly bothered by the idea of belonging to someone else. She only had one condition: if Kevin wanted to be her man, he'd have to defeat her. Overpower her. Conquer her.

Only then would she acknowledge him.

As for love?

Well, if the chat group had never appeared if she'd never learned about the vast multiverse filled with stronger, worthier foes then sure, maybe after wiping out the northern tribes, she'd get bored. Maybe she'd turn to dating as a way to pass the time.

But now? No way.

Romance was irrelevant.

Esdeath had a new obsession: power. She wanted to travel to other worlds, challenge every monster and god they had, and tear them down one by one.

Love? That could wait.

Or better yet forget it altogether.
