Cassandra, The Mafia's Bride

Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6: DISCHARGED

The following day, he was the first to check up on her in her room. He came with breakfast on a tray, when he entered the room, he was shocked to see her awake so early. She had woken up since 1am, and couldn't go back to bed. She sat down close to the window and was staring outside at the sky, she was lost in thoughts, thinking about her mom and her troublesome brother. She remembered all her sweet memories with her family, she smiled faintly. She felt like going back home, she missed her family and wanted to see them again but that wasn't possible. At a time she pulled herself together and promised herself that she was going to fight for her freedom and go back to her family. When he entered, she wasn't aware, he dropped the food on a table and walked up to her. He laid his hands on her shoulders,

Cassandra: (Was shocked when she felt someone's hands on her shoulder, she quickly turned to see who it was. When she realized it was him, she removed his hands from her shoulders and faced him) What are you looking for here?

Lord Davis: Is that how you say good morning to your husband?

Cassandra: (Irritated by the sound of the word- husband) You, Husband? Never, not even in your dreams, young man. I will never take you as my husband. Its' better I call a dog my husband than to call a venomous treacherous snake like you my husband.

Lord Davis: (Got annoyed at her words) Well, whether you like it or not. I don't care, and as long as you are under my roofing you are mine and mine alone so get used to that, young lady. I brought your breakfast and medications, if you don't want to get me mad make sure you take it. I'm out of here.

He left her room but this time he didn't lock the door. She was hungry so she ate and took her medication. She took a walk around the house, but a maid was following her around to make sure she doesn't escape. She explored all the four corners of the mansion, but she wasn't allowed to enter his room and library. After expending four hours to look around, she returned to her room.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, her mom was discharged. Aldo brought her home, everyone was happy to see her except her, she saw them as strange and couldn't relate with them as usual. Carlos realized that she was distant from them and acting weird.

When Aldo noticed that they all found out, he quickly took her to their room which was upstairs to rest, then he came downstairs to address them.

Carlos: (Was trying to find out what was strange about his mom but he couldn't place his fingers on it) Dad, something is wrong with mom, she's behaving strange. It's as if she doesn't know us anymore.

Aldo: (Sat down on a sofa and sighed softly) Your mom had memory loss so she doesn't remember any of us, you have to be patient with her and give her some time to remember some things.

Andrew: (Panicking) What? Dad, that's terrible. How did she forget about us, her children? Dad, we need to figure something out, life cannot continue like this for us. First it was our sister that was taken away, now it is mom. If things continue like this our lives will never remain the same again. I want my sister back and I want mom to regain her memories, she can't forget about us and our sister in this crucial moment. We need her to advice us, especially you, what are we going to do without her smartness?

Carlos: (Tears started dripping from his eyes when he remembered how he and his sister used to run around the house shouting at each other and knocking each other on the head and how his mom will always make Cassandra to wash the dishes and prepare breakfast just to save him) I'll tell you what will happen to us, we will all go astray. That's what will happen to us without mom and sis. Lord Davis has finally destroyed us, our pride, our dignity, our family and everything. We will never remain the same happy and proud family we used to be, we have been reduced to nothing but worthless dogs and all your fault (He said pointing at their dad, who wouldn't look up to their faces knowing fully well that he was to blame for all their misfortune). If only you had told us your plans and intentions before going ahead to loan money or whatever from that devil, it would have been better than this now, at least we would have known what you were up to and we would have helped you to pay back. But NO, you did everything by yourself and out of your greediness and self centeredness. I'm very sure that mom had no idea of your doings, so now tell me. All the money and valuable possession you collected from that devil, what did you use it to do? (He raised his voice a little bit higher than before) Tell me dad, cause I want to know, I can't see anything you used the money to achieve. It's almost as if you never collected money or anything from him.

Andrew: (Was feeling dejected and frustrated, he was tired of everything, he felt like disowning the man sitting in front of him) Yes dad, brother is right. Tell us what you used the money and gifts to achieve, we want to know. And it must be something really reasonable if not you will regret making us suffer like this.

Aldo: (He saw the pain in the boys eyes and he could relate but he couldn't tell them what he achieved with the money he lend from the devil, because he knew he didn't use it for anything good, so he had nothing to say to them) I know I've done wrong and I can't justify my actions in any way. I don't deserve your forgiveness and I'm not going to ask for it.

Andrew: (Wasn't hearing what he wanted) Dad, that's not what we asked you, should I rephrase the question? (He was coming closer to him in an aggressive way, he had blood shot eyes, his breathe could be heard some distance away. Carlos held his brother when he realized he was about to do something bad, Andrew was pushing him away but he wouldn't budge)
