Chapter 232 - The National Brother
After Ruo Manni emerged from the game pod in the morning, she sat in the living room, lost in thought for quite a while.
As a reborn person, her sense of belonging to this world was not very strong.
Since she had nowhere to go, her purpose in this world after her rebirth was to work hard toward the goals she had set for herself.
She was wholeheartedly immersed in rigorous training and study to change the world in her own way, with the aim of killing as many enemies as possible when the interstellar war came.
Her heart couldn’t fully integrate into this world; she felt that her heart and the people of this world existed in different realms. Only she knew that there was a void in her heart that could never be filled.
Because of this, Ruo Manni had never thought about romance or marriage. People from different worlds could never truly enter each other’s lives.
Being single-minded, she had never considered that Hebrew Adam might develop feelings for her.
However, because the object of those feelings was Hebrew Adam, Ruo Manni found it difficult to reject him outright.
Ruo Manni had to admit that after more than three years of close contact, Hebrew Adam had indeed become different in her heart compared to others.
Feelings are developed through interaction. Although her relationship with Hebrew Adam was, in her heart, a bond of camaraderie and friendship rather than love, it was still much deeper than ordinary friendship.
Therefore, Ruo Manni couldn’t decide how to face Hebrew Adam in the future.
Yesterday, when she saw those rumors, she felt a sense of avoidance, hoping they weren’t true.
But today, with Hebrew Adam’s behavior, she couldn’t lie to herself anymore. What was worse, even if she rejected him, it wouldn’t matter; with Hebrew Adam’s personality, he wouldn’t give up easily.
Additionally, given her current identity, whether she rejected or accepted him would lead to a series of complications, and she would definitely have to tell Hua Deyu about this.
However, just thinking about it made Ruo Manni feel that she really couldn’t bring herself to mention it to Hua Deyu. Should she ask Hua Deli to talk about it instead?
Hua Deli must have been suspicious of Hebrew Adam; otherwise, he and Dean Atchison wouldn’t have behaved that way tonight in the battle arena.
Ruo Manni thought carefully and realized that the two cousins had probably suspected this for a long time.
In Ruo Manni’s impression, it had likely started about half a year ago. Each time she entered the war arena, unless she was assembling mechs or in closed-door training, Hebrew Adam would always be by her side, and Hua Deli or Dean Atchison would inevitably be nearby as well.
As a result, for the past six months, Hebrew Adam truly hadn’t had the chance to be alone with her.
This shows just how hard these cousins have worked to prevent Hebrew Adam from spending time alone with her. Ruo Manni remembered that on the rare occasions when the two cousins were genuinely occupied, Mina-Olli would step in to take their place.
Over the past two years, whether training or going on missions, there were always other people around her and Hebrew Adam during the day.
It wasn’t easy for Hebrew Adam to say even a single word to her in private, but there were still signs of something unusual, which she had just ignored.
Now that Ruo Manni thinks back on it, she really feels as if she had been blinded by something and hadn’t noticed at all.
Hua Deli and Dean Atchison, the two cousins, had worked so hard to keep her and Hebrew Adam apart, and their attitudes were very clear; they didn’t want her to have feelings for Hebrew Adam that went beyond those of comrades and classmates.
As Ruo Manni was contemplating this matter, Hua Deli approached her.
Yesterday, Ruo Manni had released the robot butler she brought from Topaz Star from the jade pendant space. When someone knocked on the door, the robot butler ran over to open it at the command of its owner.
“You’ve figured out Hebrew Adam’s feelings, haven’t you?” Hua Deli asked directly.
“I haven’t figured it out. I only started to have doubts after seeing those videos and photos in the gossip. Did you and Dean already know about this?” Ruo Manni asked.
“It was Mina-Olli who first noticed something. She told me that she felt Hebrew Adam’s feelings towards you seemed special. Later, Dean Atchison and I kept an eye on it for a while before we started to suspect it,” Hua Deli sighed, saying with a headache:
“We didn’t talk to you on purpose so that you wouldn’t find out and could just muddle through until graduation. With just over a month left, we won’t have to be together all the time anymore, but you had to find out and let Hebrew Adam know you discovered it. He probably won’t let you avoid it anymore.”
“Tell me, what are you really thinking?” Hua Deli asked seriously.
“I never thought about this issue before today,” Ruo Manni said with a wry smile. “But I know that from my family’s standpoint, I shouldn’t have any involvement with Hebrew Adam in this regard.”
The Hua De family had always sided with the First Prince, while Queen Amber was on the opposite side of him.
It’s easy to imagine that if she were to have a relationship with Hebrew Adam, it would put the Hua De family in an awkward position in front of the First Prince.
“You need to think this through carefully if you want me to help you, I am here” Hua Deli said seriously.
“Will you support me no matter what choice I make? What if my decision goes against the family’s stance? Will you still support me?” Ruo Manni asked tentatively.
This is a very tricky question.
Hua Deli sighed. “Neither Dean nor I have said anything because we wanted to wait for you to make a decision. Our consideration is based on your happiness.”
Ruo Manni didn’t expect Hua Deli to say this. He truly deserved to be the original male lead; a boy in his teens who could think about such profound issues was indeed a rare good brother.
“I haven’t thought about these things, so I can’t answer right now,” Ruo Manni admitted.
“Brother, what do you think of this?” Ruo Manni asked Hua Deli in return.
“From a personal ability standpoint, there isn’t a boy in the entire Gumera star domain who is more outstanding than him. However, Queen Amber harmed you back then, leaving you alone for over a decade, which also caused our parents to be distant from each other for more than ten years. I have never forgotten this matter,” Hua Deli’s voice held a hint of coldness.
“Queen Amber did such things back then; she must have a guilty conscience and definitely wouldn’t accept you. If you get together with Hebrew Adam, who knows how Queen Amber would deal with you? You don’t know in the capital city, but everyone knows she values Brittany Beery highly and has already sent out information about arranging a marriage between the Second Prince and Brittany Beery,” Hua Deli said.
“You are the little princess of our Hua De family; no man is worthy of you. No matter how outstanding Hebrew Adam is, the royal family is not a good place. I hope you can live a smooth and happy life,” Hua Deli continued.
This brother, who usually spoke little, seemed less expressive of concern than Mina-Olli, but in reality, he genuinely thought about her from her perspective. She felt lucky to have such a good brother.
“Hmm! I understand. I’m not of age yet; I don’t want to face these issues now. I just want to focus on my training and become a Level Seven Telekinetic as soon as possible,” Ruo Manni said earnestly.
