Chapter 23: Chapter 23
"Because I am your sister."
...
Myron's face was a mixture of surprise and confusion. He didn't remember having a sister, not at all. After his foster parents died, he moved in with his grandparents who had told him of his past life, but no details of his family. Esther seeing his confusion was also surprised why Myron couldn't recognize her. He was just seven when they separated. Could it have been he lost his memories in that fire? After their separation, she looked for him but never found him. People presumed he was dead, but today seeing that mark on his arms, the crescent moon, the tattoo of the academy, she knew he was her Myron.
"Don't you remember me, I am your sister, we promised to be by each other's side," Esther tried telling him their past, but it seemed it only made Myron's eyes glaze over. He looked lost and scared, like a trapped animal.
Suddenly, Myron's body began to shake, and he let out a low, keening moan. His eyes rolled back in his head, His eyes widened, and he let out a blood-curdling scream. "Stop it, stop it, stop it!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the clinic. He clutched his hands to his head, pushing items around wildly. The sound of shattering glass and crashing furniture filled the air as Myron's anger boiled over and he stumbled forward, his movements jerky and uncoordinated. The nurse rushed in, her face pale with concern.
"What's going on?" she asked, trying to intervene.
"I was talking to him, and he started to act up, is there a chance he is suffering from amnesia."
Esther tried to calm Myron down, but he didn't seem to recognize her. He was lost in his own world, and she couldn't reach him. The nurse quickly grabbed a sedative and administered it to Myron, but it took a few moments to take effect.
As the sedative worked its way through Myron's system, his body slowly relaxed. He slumped forward, exhausted and disoriented. Esther felt a pang of sadness and regret. She shouldn't have pushed him so hard. She didn't know how much he could handle.
"Yes, he sometimes comes here because sometimes his conditions acts up. But today it seemed to be more critical. Is there a chance you tried to make him recall something dark for him.'
Esther nodded making the nurse nod her head." Give him time, his condition is a delicate one, and with the bullying he goes through.. I might not say."
The nurse turned to Esther, her expression sympathetic. "You should get your wound cleaned," she said, nodding towards Esther's injured hand. Esther hadn't realized she was wounded, maybe it was the time Myron acted up and the sharp strand of the vase cut her unintentionally.
After bandaging her wounds, Esther asked, "Would he get better soon?" The kind school nurse retorted, "I am not sure, this is not my field, unless you take him to a hospital to get him examined." Esther nodded, stared at Myron before leaving. School was over by now, and she needed to go to the office, but before she wanted to contact one of her business partners who worked in the hospital. She wasn't going to risk her brother's health. They were five of them, and so far she only found her two brothers, Myron and...
As she walked out of the clinic, Esther's mind was racing with thoughts of her brother and their past. She couldn't believe she had finally found him after all these years. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number, waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.
"Hello?" a voice answered.
"It's me," Esther said, her voice firm. "I need your help. I found my brother, and he's in trouble. I need you to get him the best medical care possible."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before the voice responded, "I'll take care of it. What's his condition?"
Esther hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "He's suffering from amnesia, and he's been bullied. I need to get him to a safe place where he can recover."
The voice on the other end of the line nodded, even though Esther couldn't see him. "I'll send someone to pick him up. We'll take care of him."
Esther nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew she could count on her business partner to help her brother. She looked down at Myron's sleeping form, a sense of determination rising within her. She would do everything in her power to help him recover and make up for lost time.
