Sensing the shift, Ddraig immediately fell silent, and Akira deactivated the Boosted Gear, causing the gauntlet to fade.

Akeno Himejima—daughter of Shuri Himejima, a shrine maiden from one of the Five Great Clans, and Baraqiel, a high-ranking Fallen Angel—was a rare half-blood. Within her veins flowed the blood of a high-class Fallen Angel.

Back then, Shuri—a shrine maiden from one of Japan's Five Great Exorcist Clans—accidentally encountered a gravely injured Baraqiel.

She saved him. They fell in love. Akeno was the result.

But such a relationship—between a human and a Fallen Angel—was a blasphemy to the Shinto traditions upheld by the Himejima clan.

While Baraqiel was away on a mission, the Himejima family came to demand Shuri surrender her daughter for judgment.

Shuri refused. And for that, she was killed by her own kin.

When Baraqiel returned, he hunted down those responsible and annihilated them—but it was too late to save her.

From that day on, Akeno held deep hatred for the Fallen Angel blood within her… and blamed her father for her mother's death. She refused his protection and rejected everything he stood for.

She fled, surviving by exorcising evil spirits while being relentlessly pursued by the Himejima clan. Until one day, she encountered a young girl—Rias Gremory.

Rias chose to protect her. In the name of the Gremory family, she negotiated directly with the Himejima clan and forced them to back down.

Since then, Akeno and Rias became close friends, growing up and learning together.

As a gesture of gratitude—and partly out of disgust for her Fallen Angel heritage—Akeno agreed to become one of Rias's pieces and reincarnated as a devil.

Barakiel, guilt-ridden, never once objected to her decision.

Ironically, whether due to narrative convenience or protagonist-centric design, every one of Rias's peerage members had some sort of tragic backstory.

Akeno carried the burden of her mother's death and hatred for her father.

Koneko suffered trauma from her sister, Kuroka.

Kiba was obsessed with destroying Holy Swords after surviving a horrifying experiment.

Gasper was… well, an unreliable shut-in vampire with zero confidence.

"Senpai, you should calm down."

"Sorry… I got a little carried away."

Akeno took a deep breath, realizing that her emotions had flared up more than she intended.

Akira could only sigh quietly. The entire scene unfolding in front of him felt like something straight out of a romcom harem anime—a heartfelt talk between the protagonist and a heroine, culminating in an emotional connection.

Could it be… that after seizing Hyoudou Issei's "Protagonist Aura" I also inherited all his story flags?

"Akira-kun… you must be wondering why I reacted like that."
