Beast Enslavement: A Failure's Path to World Domination

Another three dead. The smell of blood pulsating the air originated from the mountain of beast corpses illuminated by the full moon's radiance on the wasteland Arc and his Shadowwolf were standing.

Ranging from tiers 13-18, their casualties numbered almost fifty.

"Yami, use shadow spikes"

The wolf's shadow expanded, covering the field. Then, from it came black stakes, nearly 25 feet in height which killed the monsters charging at him.

Overlord skills can be used by Arc but cost coins to use, appraisal is free though. Borrowed Skills as the name implies allows the overlord to use his beast's abilities or skills. Since he has only one slot, he can only use one— it doesn't cost coins but each skill has it's respective cooldown times.

"Enslavement, huh? That's what Ms Irene used back then"

It's been two months since he was taken in by Ragnarok and he'd recuperated and gotten used to the Overlord System

He noted that his XP resets to zero after levelling up

He looked through his status window and saw that the event missions finally had some tasks

[Touch Maya's boobs (0/1): Reward: 200 XP Extra life stone]

"Oi?!"

[Hey! Don't kill the messenger. Besides, it's not like you haven't been wanting to touch them for a while now]

"B-But..."

[C'mon, it won't hurt to have an extra life considering your weak ass]

Missions are divided into three— event, emergency and lifetime. Lifetime missions are constant ones with no limit which give a specified reward each time it's completed. An example is the "killing lifeforms" mission which awards 1XP and 10 coins per kill.

Event missions are assigned depending on the situation you're in. Unlike lifetime, you only receive rewards for the task once the entire task is complete. As for emergency missions, they are mandatory missions which could spawn at any time— they give valuable rewards but also deal immense punishment if not completed.

All missions are assigned by Irene and it's contents and rewards completely at her discretion.

"At least it wasn't an emergency this time. Honestly, creating an emergency mission last week just because I refused to kill beasts was childish. Lots of people die after getting struck by lightning, y'know"

[And yet, you survived. You have no problem killing beasts anymore so I say shock therapy was worth it]

He noticed a tier 19 poison porcupine and decided

"Sigh— Guess I'll start with enslavement and EVO"

As he looked at the porcupine, his skill "appraisal" kicked in.

A dark purple aura surrounded the porcupine and a slave collar materialized around it's neck

The "Stables" section in his status window serves as storage for his beasts. It's divided into three sections.

Slaves were for lifeforms that had been enslaved and EVO candidates for those given EVO rights. A lifeform's natural limit is predetermined from it's conception at it cannot grow stronger than the limit of their potential.

However, lifeforms granted EVO rights by the overlord system gets the opportunity to evolve into a more powerful being with new abilities after killing enough lifeforms. Once Evolved, they move to EVO. In addition to new powers, EVO beasts natural limits are removed and just keep getting stronger with each battle.

"I did it!"

Arc cried with elation. The sense of accomplishment from finally gaining a new beast lit a fire in his eyes.

"Arc, it's time for breakfast"

A fire that went out instantly the moment he heard Maya's call. Ouch!

[Do not fight your destiny, bro. Touch those boobies and prove you're a man!]

"Be quiet, you!. You just want to see me get hurt, don't you?"

[Ofcourse, I do. It might even improve Lady Irene's mood a little]

"Sigh—"

He left the secret hunting ground underneath Ragnarok's lair to join Maya

Arc's two months of rehabilitation felt like it was just yesterday despite all that has happened. His days all followed a similar routine

Once he wakes up, he trains in the underground hunting ground, eats breakfast, then gets repeatedly dominated by— ahem, sorry. I mean spars with Maya to improve upon his combat training from the cradle, he learns more about the system from Silvers while also listening to him vent about how much he hates the Midgard government, then he trains underground some more and helps the chefs prepare dinner.

In all this, he managed to get decent information about the layout of the place and was slowly planning his escape.

The time for sparring arrived soon enough with Arc still conflicted on if he should use this opportunity to "accidentally" touch them.

"BEGIN!" the head chef's assistant screamed

Arc charged forward with his wooden knife to get the first strike but Maya dodged it with the gracefulness of a pro and countered with a neck chop—scratch that, she tried but Arc dodged it and used the momentum to go for the opening.

*CRACK

He was met with a kick to the stomach cracking a couple of ribs and sending him over 20 feet into the air. Maya instantly appeared behind the airborne Arc, slamming him to the ground and putting him in an armbreaker choke.

He was about to lose, but win at the same time. His hands were in range of his mission, just move your hand a little and an extra life stone plus the softest, roundest thing you've touched in your 12 years of existence will be yours. C'mon Arc! Be a man!

He moved his hand a little about to touch it..... but chickened out at the last second and instead tapped out.

"You managed to dodge the first attack this time. You're improving, Arc"

"Thank you, instructor Maya"

"Do you need help getting up?"

"I'll be fine. I just need to catch my breath"

She headed out of the training room.

[Why didn't you grab it?!]

"It just didn't seem right. I don't want to be the kind of person who compromises his morals for material rewards"

[You're just making excuses for being a chicken]

"I'm not a chicken! I'm a proper gentleman"

Arc gave up on completing that mission and instead focused on the other two. Having monsters aside from Yami will be a huge help when escaping, especially smaller monsters that can slip around undetected.

His first conquest was a tier 19 cobalt eagle— a beast with exceptional vision and speed which cost 60 coins. Using the cobalt eagle, he found a beast he had been searching for for a while.

The tier 21 silent chameleon. It has zero offensive or defensive abilities to speak of, however aside from camouflage, it had silent footsteps and a slippery body making it undetectable and able to slip into any tiny space.

This beast was going to be instrumental for his escape. He found out the lair was in a pocket dimension located in one of the gate dimensions. The only way to escape was with a sliver key and the one holding on to it was Mr Silvers. With the chameleon, he can steal the key without alerting anyone.

His next goal was to get an EVO beast, preferably one with attack capabilities to complement Yami.

Enslave EVO uses three times the number of coins for regular enslavement. Arc obtained the tier 16 Thermotwin Ceberus, a dog with two heads— one with the power of flames and the other ice.

Arc's preparations were set and his escape imminent. He stayed around for one more week of training to get used to his new beasts, raise his coins and XP a little before planning his escape.

At the dead of night, he had Cammy steal the key then used Yami to warp to the exit location. He inserted the key and turned it, freedom was within his grasp.

However, when he opened it, he saw something he didn't expect, something he hadn't heard of from anyone during his time here.

It was a beast guarding the exit. And not just any beast

"N-No way...this is—"

He didn't have enough coins to enslave the beast before him, the only option was to fight.

The exit from Ragnarok's lair was within reach, and the only thing standing in his way was a beast he knew all too well.
