Basketball Legend: When Pride Still Matters

Chapter 163 Never Say Forever_3

This was a flagrant foul, and it could have been coupled with a technical foul.

If it had been an ordinary player who had treated Jordan like that and then talked back to the referee, they would have received such a penalty.

But Yu Fei only got a common foul.

Jordan had to leave the court to get treatment because his forehead was cut open after hitting the ground, although it was just a minor wound that bled a little.

The game was put on hold.

Yu Fei, who provoked the referee and insulted Jordan, and made dangerous moves on defense, should have been met with jeers from the entire court.

However, the jeers at the MCI were pathetically few.

There were no shortage of Jordan's supporters on the scene, but the silent majority, many of whom had personally seen Yu Fei lead the team to the playoffs last year, prevailed.

When they saw Yu Fei filled with hatred for the Wizards Team, they were not surprised.

Put yourself in his shoes, if it were you who had led your team to the playoffs with the first and second players out for the entire season, and then got traded because you didn't get along with the number one, wouldn't you want to take down the Wizards Team?

Yu Fei should hate the Wizards Team, and his loathing for Jordan was completely within reason.

What was shocking was that most of the Wizards fans actually held this thought.

Wizards Dan's second season did not generate more popularity for the team.

Although the season ticket market and merchandise sales were still booming, on a regular day, the MCI often had thousands of empty seats.

Did this imply that the Wizards were falsifying their ticket sales figures? No, because most of those absent were season ticket holders. Keep in mind, those who bought season tickets for Jordan were not Wizards fans at all; they did so solely to witness the greatest player in history.

But, if this greatest player didn't display the same dominance they had seen from him in the 90s Bulls games, what would they do? Stop watching.

Yes, they bought season tickets, but that didn't mean they would come to watch the games.

If Jordan's drawing power declined, they could choose not to attend.

For the middle class, this was a pastime, and if it proved not worth their time, they would remove watching Wizards games from their schedules.

This was a direct testament to Jordan's sharply declining appeal to fans.

If Jordan's failure in the All-Star voting proved his plummeting national popularity, then the vast swathes of empty seats at the Wizards' home games were evidence that he was losing appeal at home as well.

Without Jordan on the court, Yu Fei still needed a target.

Jared Jeffries was perfect.

Yu Fei got low, crossed dribbled, suddenly stepped back laterally, and Jeffries, who was unable to react but eagerly trying to make the defense, instantly lost his center of gravity.

He slid down in front of the entire audience, forced to watch Yu Fei jump up for a shot over him.

"Swish!"

"Tell Doug this for me," Yu Fei said mercilessly, "The best thing a trash like you can do is roll off the court and sit till your ass rots with that old junk."

Even if Yu Fei hadn't said it, Collins was already planning to take Jeffries out.

Because it was visibly clear that Yu Fei did not like Jeffries.

If the game continued this way, Jeffries was going to crumble.

A minute later, Jared Jeffries was taken out for excessive fouling on a three-pointer by Sprewell while helping on defense, replaced by someone who might slightly ease Yu Fei's murderous intent—Cassidy White.

After the last season ended, Jordan had nearly cleaned out all of Yu Fei's gang.

Kwame Brown and Cassidy White were the only survivors.

Brown was after all a first-pick; Jordan would keep him despite hating him, and although White stayed, he also lost his starting spot.

Seeing White reminded Yu Fei of the good old days, and he greeted him with a smile, "Yo, Cassidy, what did Doug send you here for?"

Sprewell was taking free throws, and White joked seriously, "He said if I can gift you three big blocks, I could get back in the starting lineup."

Then, Sprewell made two free throws but missed the third.

However, White failed to grab the defensive rebound that was within reach and instead let someone poke the ball towards the outside.

Yu Fei sprinted energetically under the basket, just in time to grab that rebound, and with the basket right in front of him, he took a big step forward and leaped with all his might.

Cassidy White's timing on the jump to defend was so poor, he was easily overpowered by Yu Fei in midair, which was followed by a terrifying dunk that shocked the entire audience.

Yu Fei dominated over White in the air, and as White was tumbling down, the basketball thundered into the hoop.

"BOOM!!!!!!!"

When Yu Fei landed, his legs were right on either side of White's body.

He had no intention of humiliating his former teammate, so he moved his legs aside and extended his hand, "Cassidy, you'll never be able to guard me."

"Damn it, Big Fei!" White slapped Yu Fei's hand away as he jumped up and retorted, "Have you seen Michael's state now? Never say never!"

That such a philosophical statement would come from Cassidy White was unbelievable.

But Yu Fei had to admit White was right.

Ten years ago, Jordan was the superhero in the hearts of most basketball fans, but today, he was just an old junk to Yu Fei.

Not many things can stand the test of time.

Never say never, and because of that, he should seize the night even more.

As Yu Fei ran back, he suddenly noticed Jordan, who seemed to have been standing by the court for some time.

A plaster was stuck on his left brow, it seemed the wound had been dealt with.

He was coming back.

Looking at that face of his, so arrogantly self-loving!

Yu Fei suddenly pressed Cassell hard, and teamed up with Sprewell to double him on the outside.

After Cassell made a pressured mistake, Sprewell snatched the ball, and Yu Fei quickly broke away and got The Madman's pass. Your next chapter is on empire

Yu Fei rushed to the front court in a few seconds to slam dunk, and on his way back, he glanced at Jordan.

Cassidy, you're right, never say never.

But I will never forgive Michael Jordan!
