Basketball Legend: When Pride Still Matters

Chapter 163 Never Say Forever_2

Back in the backcourt, Yu Fei came over to Jordan.

"Don't like Jared?" Jordan thought he had found Yu Fei's sore spot.

"Which father doesn't love his own son?" Yu Fei scoffed, "I feel about him just like those ladies who demand $5 million from you!"

Jordan could have easily mocked Yu Fei by replacing him with Jeffries, but that would be pointless since the Wizards had a poor record and, when it came to controversies, how could Yu Fei's cumulative over two seasons match Jordan's "heritage" of 19 years?

Jordan called for a screen, trying to shake off Yu Fei.

Sprewell wanted to switch defense. However, when he saw Yu Fei push through Tim Thomas's screen like a mad dog, furiously catching up with Jordan, he suddenly felt that if this kid defended with all his might every game, he might have a chance to make the all-defensive team.

The screen created a catching and shooting opportunity for Jordan, but age had robbed him of speed and vertical jump. As he took off, Yu Fei caught up, overshadowing him from above with his arm.

Jordan had no choice but to force the shot.

Though it wasn't blocked, it was heavily contested.

"Bang!"

Mason secured the defensive rebound, looking to pass to Yu Fei, only to find that he had already run past half-court. How much did he trust his own defense, and how much did he trust his old brothers' rebounding?

Seeing Yu Fei running and gesturing for the ball, Mason felt that if he didn't pass it, he might end up getting more than just a few curses.

Even as clueless as he was, he knew this game had special significance for Yu Fei.

Mason gritted his teeth; he'd throw the ball forward, even if it meant turning it over.

He threw the ball forward with all his might; although the pass wasn't great, Yu Fei caught it.

The Wizards only had Sam Cassell back on defense, another NBA player who didn't get along with Yu Fei.

Ever since Yu Fei directly trash-talked about Cassell's appearance during a game, the two could never develop any friendship.

Cassell decided to commit an intentional foul on Yu Fei, but the execution exceeded imagination.

Yu Fei plowed through Cassell's body, including the hand Cassell had prepared to grab him with. Cassell was sent flying out from under the basket like he had been hit by a truck. Accelerating without slowing down, Yu Fei didn't even consider whether Cassell was injured. He took off in the paint, pulled the ball with his right hand, and completed a full-drawn tomahawk dunk.

"Oh my God, Frye Yu completely dominated this play!"

"Not only did Sam Cassell fail to stop Frye, but he was also called for a defensive foul!"

"And there's an additional free throw! Frye has an extra shot!"

The commentators from several major networks exclaimed in unison, and like Yu Fei, nobody cared if Cassell was injured.

Yu Fei's performance now was exactly what everyone expected.

He came for revenge!

The better he played, the more shame the Wizards had on their face.

From the moment that trade happened, tonight's events were destined.

Cassell hadn't expected that even being knocked over wouldn't result in an offensive foul, another testament to the NBA's star favoritism.

Yu Fei now had the star treatment, regardless of whether he played at home or away.

Cassell stood up, grinding his teeth, while Yu Fei mocked him at the free-throw line, "You really are quite a monster."

Already furious for not drawing a foul and instead getting one himself, Cassell was even angrier as Yu Fei continued to trash talk about his looks.

Yu Fei could see the rage on his face but didn't care at all.

Except for Kwame Brown (and Jahidi White), he wasn't planning to let anyone else in a Wizards jersey off the hook.

Yu Fei hit the free throw, 3-5.

An angry Cassell broke past Ray Allen with speed, and from outside the paint, the Alien completed the offense with a floater.

5-5

Yu Fei's presence finally diminished a bit.

Other members of the Bucks began to stand out on both offense and defense.

Jordan didn't take on Yu Fei, and as his opponent, Ray Allen had every reason to be dissatisfied with that.

You're afraid of Yu Fei, but not of me? What's the reasoning behind that?

Ray Allen asked everybody to clear out, letting him play one-on-one with Jordan on the side.

Jordan's skills and experience were ineffective because Ray Allen was unschooled in chivalry, simply pulling up and shooting.

5-7

Unlike Yu Fei, Ray Allen's previous offense towards Jordan was taken lightly, but now, being used as a weak point and having not scored since the start of the game, the Flying Emperor urgently needed to score to prove himself.

To do so, he first had to get past Yu Fei.

"You haven't gotten used to being beaten by the young ones, have you?" Yu Fei taunted Jordan at their meeting, "Now all you have left is your reputation."

Remember Jordan's classic response when questioned?

Now Jordan didn't have the right to say that unless he broke through Yu Fei's defense.

Trying to prove himself, Jordan forcefully attempted to breakthrough from Yu Fei's left side, but with his current acceleration, it was impossible to succeed.

Unless, the referee was willing to grant him immunity for a legal charge.

When Jordan used his elbow to open up Yu Fei's body, the referees turned a blind eye.

Can't see it, huh? Fine!

Yu Fei, fuming, chased down Jordan. As the latter took off, like a leopard lying in wait for a long time, Yu Fei pounced, hitting Jordan's body and intercepting his offense outside the paint, ball and all.

Jordan lost his balance, and like an old man falling down the stairs, lay there and flew out several meters away.

Just as the referee's whistle blew, Yu Fei made a sweeping elbow gesture, "You fucking didn't see him elbowing me?!"
