Chapter Ten: Claim

 Kai took steps, trembling, his scent filled the air, his eyes glowing faintly crimson. 

"Not only is your blood divine but your scent too. Seize him", two guards rush over to Kai grabbing him roughly, making him to his knees. 

Kai winces from pain but his eyes are on Nora, who is trembling with fear. 

"Would you let her go, now?", Kai rasped. 

"No, Kai. Don't do this please", Nora pleaded. 

"It's okay, you will be safe soon."

Merthur tries to move but is too weak, another guard points a gun to his head. 

"Not so fast, Merthur", Fiona chuckles. "You haven't changed much since we were last lovers. Trying to have everything your way. You are still weak, always falling for a pretty face"

"I will rip your throat out, I promise you Fiona". Merthur glares, holding his bleeding shoulder getting weaker. 

"Oh, with the True blood I would become so powerful to even overthrow the vampire council. I would be undefeated"

Fiona walks to Kai. Slashes her palm, forcing Kai to drink her blood, forcing him to take it, triggering his powers. 

Kai coughs, his scent was making the vampires around go crazy. His veins glow under his skin, his eyes crimson. He tries to resist, screaming from intense pain. 

"No. Please don't hurt him. Take instead", Nora screams. 

"Oh darling, you are just a fragile human", Fiona laughs. 

Merthur couldn't bear seeing Kai in pain, he wouldn't let Fiona win and take his Kai from him. 

Merthur uses his last strength to grab the gun away from the vampire who stands close to him pointing the gun to his head, breaking his arm. 

Gunshots ring, blood splashes as Merthur tears through them. Merthur's men start to retaliate, shooting down Fiona's vampires. 

Fiona furiously grabs Kai by the neck, lifting him up in the air. 

"If I can't have your blood, no one will", she draws a knife to slit Kai's throat. 

"NO!"

Power surges out of Kai, a wave of crimson blasting her to the wall. Fiona backs hit the wall, dropping to the ground. 

Kai collapsed to the floor, unconscious. Merthur roars, "KAI!"

Merthur staggers to Kai's unconscious body, shaking him furiously. 

"Kai, wake up. Can you hear me?"

Fiona stood up from the rubbles. 

"I will be back. The real hunt begin, I would destroy y'all"

She flees the scene. 

Merthur limps, hurriedly unties Nora. 

"Let's get out of here"

Nora goes to Kai's hug and sobs. "Please save him, Merthur. You promised me you would protect him"

Merthur lifts Kai on his other shoulder, wrapping his arm around Nora, guiding her. The left in Merthur armoured car, tires screeching on the dirt road.

 Nora is brought to a luxury guest room, the maids are immediately at her service, treating her nicely. She's terrified seeing so many faces. 

Merthur sees this and immediately assures her. 

"You are safe here. Your brother will be okay soon too. Anything you want tell them, they would get it for you"

Merthur goes to the bedroom where he laid Kai. The door was checking everything to make sure he was okay. 

"Doctor, is he going to be fine?"he asked anxiously. 

"Yes. Mr Merthur. He will be conscious soon. But I noticed something, he seems overwhelmed and physically exhausted. It would trigger a heat like fever. He might seriously need to feed on a bonded alpha's blood"

"And if he doesn't, Doc?"

"I don't know what would happen, never had a case like this before. I would assume very deadly"

He bows to Merthur taking his leave. 

Merthur held his hand. 

"It's time I claim you as my own, Kai"
