Chapter 104: Chapter 104: John the Plumber
[T/N: 🥳HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS🎊Have a great year~]
As he twirled the Black Bat Circus Coin between his fingers, Azor let it vanish into thin air with a flick of his wrist.
It returned quietly to his inventory.
---
Out in the desert, after Superman's departure, Azor had reached an agreement with the military. Upon returning to the small town, General Ryder received his orders and promptly withdrew his forces.
When Lin Aida opened her door, she remained blissfully unaware of the battle that had just unfolded outside.
At that moment, a notification appeared on Azor's retina:
[Black Bat Circus Coin is now on cooldown: 19 hours remaining.]
The message faded as Azor turned to Lin Aida, taking her hand gently. "Let's go. Their car is here."
The two climbed into a military-marked vehicle and set off.

Metropolis - LexCorp Headquarters
A group of disheveled men stumbled into a luxurious office. Their faces were bruised, arms bandaged, and expressions sour.
Inside, a symphony played softly in the background, its harmonious melody filling the room. A man stood before a painting of Paradise Lost—the depiction of a wrathful God casting Satan into the flames of hell.
"Mr. Luthor," one of the men, dressed as a janitor, finally spoke.
The figure at the painting raised a hand, signaling for silence. He didn't move until the symphony concluded.
Turning around, the man revealed himself. Young, with meticulously parted tawny hair, dressed casually like a college student. But beneath this veneer of simplicity lay the heir to an empire: Lex Luthor Jr., son of the founder of LexCorp.
Intelligent, wealthy, and powerful, he was a paragon of humanity's elite.
"Judging by your sorry faces, you botched the job?" Lex pulled out a candy from his pocket, peeled off the wrapper, and popped it into his mouth. "Cherry-flavored. My favorite."
"Well then, gentlemen," he continued casually. "Who's the hero who turned you into walking disasters? As far as I know, our friendly Gotham vigilante—the Bat—should be busy preparing for tonight's festivities."
One of the men, still wearing his janitor disguise, replied gravely, "It was Superman, Mr. Luthor."
Lex froze, visibly startled. "Superman? He's back?"
"Yes, sir. He rescued Lois Lane from the Daily Planet."
Lex laughed, a loud, hearty chuckle that echoed through the room. He waved dismissively. "It doesn't matter. It's no great loss if we missed her. Our main leverage is still intact."
"With her in our hands, we'll make sure that demon stays obedient."
---
Footsteps echoed in the corridor as Lex's new assistant approached. "Sir, General Archill would like to see you."
"Let him in," Lex said, his curiosity piqued.
Moments later, Archill entered with a group of soldiers in tow. Among them was an inconspicuous civilian—a man wearing a baseball cap, glasses, and a checkered shirt. His pale skin and blue eyes suggested nothing more than an ordinary worker.
Lex raised an eyebrow at the sight. A civilian? With the general?
But his face betrayed nothing, only an easygoing smile. "General Archill, welcome."
The general's expression was grim as he nodded. "Mr. Luthor, I'll get straight to the point. I know the Kryptonian general's body is in your lab. I'm here to retrieve it."
Lex's carefree demeanor faltered briefly. He hopped onto his desk, reaching for a jar of candy. Taking out another piece, he offered it with a wry smile.
"Care for one, General? Cherry-flavored—my favorite."
Before Archill could respond, Lex shrugged and popped the candy into his mouth.
"Now, let's be clear. The Kryptonian's body is LexCorp's property. It's valuable, and I can't just hand it over—even to someone of your stature."
Archill took a step forward, his voice steely. "You're mistaken, Mr. Luthor. That body is a national asset. It does not belong to LexCorp. This is not a request—it's an order."
Lex chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright, how about this? Tomorrow. I'll deliver the body to you personally."
"Not tomorrow. Now," Archill demanded.
Before Lex could retort, the civilian in the cap walked toward one of the office walls without a word.
"Hey!" Lex called, frowning. "You've got the wrong place, pal."
The man ignored him.
Lex leapt off the desk and barked, "Escort this man out."
Two security guards approached the civilian, standing in his path.
"Sir, you need to leave."
Archill muttered under his breath, "You might want to pull them back."
Lex smirked, "Or what?"
Before the general could answer, one of the guards was hurled through the air, crashing at Lex's feet with a sickening thud.
Lex stared, wide-eyed, as the second guard attempted to subdue the civilian—only to be flung against the wall like a ragdoll, sliding down unconscious.
Archill gave Lex a measured look. "Or that happens."
"Who the hell is this guy?" Lex demanded, his voice unsteady.
"John. Mr. John," Archill replied coolly. "Our secret weapon against hostile superhumans."
---
Yes, in the desert, Azor had brokered a deal with the military: he would assist them in dealing with dangerous superhumans, provided his conditions were met.
One such condition was obtaining the Kryptonian's corpse.
Another was access to the Kryptonian ship.
Lex stared at "John," his disbelief giving way to incredulous laughter. "A plumber? This is your superhuman deterrent? Why not call Super Mario while you're at it?"
Before he could continue, a golden glow caught his eye.
John's eyes gleamed with light as a searing beam shot from them, striking the office wall.
The surface melted instantly, like butter under a hot knife, leaving a gaping hole that revealed the hidden corridor beyond.
The beam continued unabated, slicing through several more walls until it finally obliterated a heavily fortified alloy barrier, reducing it to molten slag.
Lex's mocking smile vanished. "What the hell…"
John floated off the ground, effortlessly gliding through the openings his beam had created.
In Lex's secret lab, General Zod's body lay motionless on a cryogenic table, tendrils of frost clinging to its surface.
John turned, looking back toward Lex through the gaping holes.
"Your little green trinket," he said calmly. "Hand it over. Now."
