A Fisherman's Immortal Journey

After he cast the fishing line, he sat there on his boat and waited.

It did not take long for him to notice something different about the fishing spot, he was casting.

Before, he had to wait for countless hours just to catch one single fish.

Sometimes, it would take 2 to 3 days for it.

But, now only about few minutes have passed, he felt something pulling the fishing line.

"I am not seeing things!!? This floating thing is real!!?" He realized the strange floating screen was real. He felt ecstatic.

Thinking quickly, he pulled up the fishing line.

However, he was a little too late. Because he was distracted just for a bit, when he pulled up the hook, the bait was gone.

If only he was on time.

Now, he knew there were a lots of fishes on that spot.

Excited, he hurriedly changed the bait and cast his fishing line again.

This time, even after several minutes have passed, he still did not feel the same feeling again. But he knew, he should not be too anxious about it.

Just a little time difference was not a great deal.

Like that, he patiently waited on his fishing boat. Silent, he intently stared at his fishing line. Fearing that he will missed out the timing.

More minutes have passed, but he still could not catch any fishes.

The first time, he felt the line moved, only took for a couple of minutes.

But the second time, it took 30 minutes and still counting.

When the minutes was about to turn into an hour, something clicked.

Then, just when he thought that his fate was falling apart, the fishing line moved.

This time, he did not spare another second thinking. He instantly pulled up the fishing line.

When he fully pulled up the fishing line, he saw a big fish caught on the hook. It was struggling to free itself from the hook.

Seeing the big fish, his mood instantly turned around. From bored and dejected to excited.

Well that was not a big fish, it was only about 12 cm long. It was only big in Ren Wei's eyes as he has not caught anything bigger than that.

The fish twisted its body from left to right, trying to free itself from the pain and the catch.

But luck was a thing it did not have on its side.

Soon, Ren Wei unhooked the fish from the fish hook and put it inside the fish inside the fish pot he brought.

The moment he put the fish inside the pot, something happened.

He heard a strange voice, like inside his head.

And the strange screen popped up in front his eyes.

This time, the information on the screen was changed.

He was stunted for a moment there.

So far, everything that was happening was bizarre. First, his children was taken by some Immortal and now he got some strange thing happening to him.

And apparently, the Black Scale Carp is the source of these strange things.

But whatever it is, he decided to check it out.

With an voice that lack trust, he spoke. "Unlock reward system...?"

Nothing happened.

The scene was filled with awkward silence.

Ren Wei looked left and right for anyone.

Then, he cleard his throat and called out one more time. This time with calm and confident.

"Unlock reward system."

This time, he heard the same strange voice inside his head.

A small notification popped up in front his face.

"Now, let's try out whether I can get a reward or not. Whether this is true or not. For one last time." He murmured and took a deep breathe.

After exhaling a long breathe, he cast the fishing line with the bait renewed.

Same spot.

Like before, the wait was long.

People say third time is sure a thing, but they did not say waiting for third time is way longer than it seems.

Likewise, Ren Wei's third time fishing took longer than before.

But it was a sure thing.

He finally caught a fish but it was not big like last time, but smaller.

Nonetheless, he took it.

He unhooked it and put in inside the fishing pot, attached to his waist band.

As he expected, the same strange voice and the floating screen appeared.

"Heavenly Water Qi..?" Ren Wei tiled his head in confusion.

[Heavenly Water Qi: Spiritual Qi, use and absorb by Immortal practitioners for cultivation.]

"What!? It is use by Immortals? Then it is useless to mortal like me." He felt cheated and puzzled, to why the strange thing was rewarding Immortal stuffs to mortal like him.

He did not need to think it anymore.

As soon as thought about it, a notification arrived in front of his face.

"I can absorb it!!!?..." With wide eyes, he looked at the screen in front of his face.

For more than 1 minutes, he intently stares at the screen.

His mind was constantly thinking whether it is possible for or not.

On one hand, he was excited for the feeling. But on the other hand, he was a little bit afraid of doing it. Who knows, he might die for absorbing it.

He was in a dilemma, whether he should do it or not.

Then a thought came to his mind.

"What if I successfully this strand of Immortal Qi and become an Immortal. Then I can go search for my children. I don't need to wait for them to come to me." With that thought, Ren Wei decided to gamble.

Taking several long breathes, he reached out his hand towards to screen.

When his finger was an inch away from the screen, he stopped.

He was a little bit hesitant about the idea. What if he doesn't make it.

Like God was tired of waiting for his decision, a wave came out of nowhere.

As he was not paying attention, Ren Wei lost his balance for a moment when the wave hit the boat.

Even though the boat was on the edge, the wave still hit it.

Even it was for a moment, when Ren Wei lost his balance, he accidentally clicked on the 'Yes' button.

When Ren Wei finally gained his balance, it was already too late to change.

With his eyes closed tightly, he waited for the reaction.

But the feeling he was waiting for, never came.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and checked his body for any changes.

"Nothing? That's weird." He murmured.

As he was standing there, in confusion. A message popped up.

[Numbing in 3 seconds.]

"Numbi-" Ren Wei did not even finish reading the words when his body was electrocuted.

It was the same feelinghe felt when the ball of light entered his body.

"What the hell...?" Ren Wei only managed to uttered some words, before he lost his consciousness and ultimately fell on the boat floor.

Thump...

Splash....

The sound of something heavy falling and the water dispersing, simultaneously echoed at the quiet river bank.

Ren Wei's unconscious body lay on the floor of the boat. But his mind was elsewhere.

He was dreaming the same thing when he first fell unconscious after the ball of light hit entered his body.

The same scenes of two lives were flashing in front of him.

But this time, the scenes was must more clearer and way more deep.

After what felt like an eternity, Ren Wei slowly opened his eyes. After getting the experiences of two lives, his eyes were calm.

He slowly sat up.

With a calm expression, he murmured. "So this is my second life. Huh..?"

"In my past life, I was just a small clerk who was his whole life inside a small cabin. And before even reaching 30, I died in a bus accident."

"And now I am a widowed father of a twin. And the twin were taken by some unknown Immortal. What a life...."

Now, he fully gained his past life memories, he way of thinking was more deeper than his former self. Who was just a small fisherman in country side.

As he was revisiting his memories, the sound of notification arrived.

After calming himself, he sat in a lotus position and cast the fishing line.

A calm face and a mature mind that look like even the giant ocean waves could not change it.

Ren Wei waited for his third catch of the day.
