Chapter 3: Myriad Fishing System
Seeing the Immortal, Ren Wei felt silent. He knew the time for separation was coming and its there right on the front door.
"Please come in, sir." He softly invited the Immortal inside, to the courtyard.
When the Immortal entered to the courtyard, both Ren Chen and Ren Xiu looked at him.
"Sweet grandpa, it's you!" The joyful voice of Ren Xiu echoed inside the courtyard. The Immortal simply nodded and gave her another candy.
In a soft tone, Ren Wei said. "Please let us finish this meal. We might never have this moment together in the future..." his voice carried his sadness.
The Immortal did not reply, instead he sat down on one of the chair and closed his eyes. Ren Wei knew the Immortal agreed to his request.
Then, he sat back to his seat and was ready to continue the breakfast.
As soon as he sat down, Ren Xiu asked. "Dad, why is this grandpa here? Is he here to give us more sweets?" Innocent in her voice.
Ren Wei smiled. But he did not answer her question. Instead he asked her. "Baby..., do you want to become an Immortal?"
Ren Xiu showed confusion when she heard the question.
Tilting her heard she asked. "What's an Immortal? Do they have many sweets?"
"Yes..., they have many sweets. And you can become one too. Not only you will have more sweets, but you can also fly in the sky too." Ren Wei explained.
"Really!!? I can fly too?" She said in an excited voice.
"Now you listen to dad carefully. Okey?"
Ren Xiu nodded her head repeatedly.
"Now, this grandpa will take you and your brother to a place. There you will become an Immortal." Ren Wei patiently explained to her. He continued. "Dad can not come with you. So I want you to be obedient and listen to your brother. Can you do that for dad?"
The moment she heard she will be going to another place, her face was all excited. But as soon as she heard her dad was not coming, it all turned into sad face.
With a quavering voice and teary eyes, she said. "Why? Not coming with me? Don't you love me anymore, dad?"
Hearing the sadness in her voice, Ren Wei felt pain in his heart. He quickly went to her side to comfort her.
With his rough hands and calloused palms, he softly wiped away her tears.
He deeply looked at her with full of love and softly spoke. "No,no. Dad is also coming but dad will be coming after when he has many sweets. Then, dad will come to you sweety."
"Really..? You are not lying to me..?" She asked in a low voice.
"Of course, why would dad lie to you. Now finish your breakfast. Then this grandpa will bring you to the place." He assured her one more time.
"Um..." She quickly nodded and went back to eating.
Finally, Ren Wei turned to Ren Chen.
He saw him still eating with his head looking down. Smiling, Ren Wei touched his shoulder and called out. "Chen'er."
Ren Chen did not replied.
Then, Ren Wei realized Ren Chen was crying. When he looked more deeply did he see the tear drops falling down into his bowl.
Slowly, Ren Wei reached out his hand turned Ren Chen's face towards him.
Then, he saw clearly. Ren Chen's face was red will tears falling from his eyes.
Seeing that, Ren Wei felt a pang in his heart. He quickly tried comforting him. But Ren Chen quickly wiped away his own tears and his expression went back to normal.
As his mind was mature, his action also showed it. The reason he cried was because he knew the separation was inevitable.
From a young age, he grew up listening to the stories his father told him. Even if Ren Xiu went to sleep, he would still listen to the stories intently.
From that, he knew if an Immortal wants something, a mortal can never do anything about it. Power is the top ruler of this world.
He knew it in his heart that even if his father never said anything sweet like to his sister, his love for him was never less.
So, when the time for separation was near, his heart was overwhelmed with sadness.
Ren Wei also did not say much, he simply tapped his shoulder and said. "Take care of your sister and.. take care of yourself. Don't forget your nature."
Then he turned to the Immortal and spoke. "Immortal sir, I think they are ready for the travel."
The Immortal stood up from his seat and waved his hand. With a wind, the twin was lift up from their chairs and floated toward the Immortal.
At that time, Ren Wei hurriedly asked. "Sir, may I atleast ask where are you taking them. So that I will atleast.....atleast..." He could not even finish the sentence.
The Immortal turned to him and looked up and down. With a cold face, "For a mortal, it's impossible to reach the place. Even if I tell you, you will not be able to come to that place."
"But to assure your peace of mind, I am taking them to Azure Sword Pavillion of Heavenly Sword Domain."
Then the Immortal slowly lifted his body and the twin from the ground, he was ready to leave. He wrapped the twins small bodies with Qi, so that they will not be injured.
When they were ready for flying, Ren Xiu called out. "Dad, you must come to us when you have many sweets, okey?" Even, though it sounded normal, Ren Wei could still detect some sadness.
He hid his sadness. And with a calm face and a smile, he nodded to assure her.
With a whoosh, the trio left the courtyard. Ren Wei could not even catch a glimpse of their image.
Then, he heard the voice of the Immortal, warning him. "Don't even think of finding the place. Without the power of Divine Domain Realm, you will be shred into pieces the moment you try to cross the border."
The warning was out of kindness or somewhat near that.
Ren Wei himself knew it. Because let alone finding an Immortal place, he can not even travel just from his small town to another town. The creatures in between the distance will not let him.
After they left, he could not hold himself anymore. He fell on his knees and broke down to tears.
He stayed there still, kneeling. And it lasted hours.
Finally, he collected himself.
He stood up and turned around.
He saw the half finished bowls on the bamboo. His heart was once again filled with sadness. Even though he asked the Immortal to atleast let them finish the breakfast, he himself stopped it midway.
With a burden heart, he cleaned the table and washed the dishes.
Face filled with sadness and a heart overcome with burden, Ren Wei sat just outside his front door with a blank face.
His mind wondering whether he will ever see his children again, in this lifetime. And he knew it was close to impossible.
But deep down, he held a tiny hope. A hope that they will come back one day, to see him.
Holding onto this tiny hope, he brought himself back to reality. Ready to live, atleast for that day.
Out of habit, he went inside the house and grabbed his fish bucket and the fishing rod. And a little fish baits.
With those, he left the house went towards the fishing lake or rather the river.
On the way, many people called out to him. But he never answered any. His thoughts was constantly back to his children.
Instinctively, he arrived at the river and ready to row the boat.
When his mind was back from his daydream, he was already fishing. Unknowingly, his body was doing all that with muscle memory.
He shook his head to clear the thoughts, he said to himself. "Ren Wei hold yourself together. You know your children. They will surely come to find you one day."
Then, he turned his attention to the fishing line.
However, he saw something odd. At the area he was looking, a floating virtual screen appeared in front of his eyes.
He thought he was seeing things, so with both hand he rubbed his eyes. Trying to clear his vision.
Even after that, the screen was still there.
When he looked more carefully, he realized there was some information written on it.
[Fishing Spot: Low (Chance of catching a fish: 1%).]
'What the.... What is going on.' He felt like he was hallucinating.
Even though he was not a literate person, he could understand the information on the screen. Which is weird.
He thought maybe the Immortal did something to him before he left? Then he realized it was unlikely.
Suddenly, a thought struck his mind. The scene from yesterday.
"Maybe this has to do something with the incident from yesterday and the Black Scale Carp?" He murmured.
"It will not hurt to try it out." Since the screen showed low percentage, why not test it.
So, he rowed his boat and scanned the river edges of the river. But all he got was the same information.
When he thought maybe it was just some tricks his mind was playing, he saw the screen changed.
When he scanned around the corner, he saw a different information on the screen.
[Fishing Spot: Mid-High (Chances of catching a fish: 20-30%).]
That was way higher than before. To test whether he was seeing things, he decided to try it.
With an uncertain expression, he cast the fishing line on the fishing spot he was seeing.
