A Different Doraemon World

Chapter 11: Incident

The distorted clocks floated within the time tunnel, while the time machine hurtled forward 500 years into the future. Everyone was lost in their thoughts, so no one spoke—until Kelly suddenly broke the silence:

"Has anyone wondered where those clocks in the time tunnel come from?"

"Huh… now that you mention it, I just noticed," Nobita responded after hearing Kelly. "Clocks are supposed to be human inventions… so why are they floating in the time tunnel?"

"It's like the chicken-and-egg question, right?" Karen mused, resting her chin on her hand. "Did humans create clocks, and the time tunnel just modeled them for some reason? Or did people stumble upon clocks in the time tunnel and then create devices based on what they saw? There are plenty of historical accounts of time anomalies; maybe someone glimpsed those clocks through a rift and used them as inspiration. It's not impossible."

The three fell silent in contemplation before simultaneously turning to look at Doraemon.

"This question…" Feeling their gazes, Doraemon began to respond when a massive jolt shook the machine.

"What's happening?" Karen, Kelly, and Nobita clung to the time machine, their voices trembling with fear.

Doraemon, alarmed, frantically pressed buttons on the control panel with one hand while moving a lever up and down with the other. "There's a powerful electromagnetic disturbance—it's interfering with most of the time machine's functions!"

The machine shook more violently. Nobita grabbed the antenna for support and moved closer to Doraemon. "What do we do now?"

"Engage the emergency propulsion system! Kelly, grab the outermost lever at the back and pull it down to the second notch—hold it steady! Karen, take the middle and innermost levers, and when I give the signal, pull them down with all your strength!" Doraemon shouted instructions, his voice rising over the chaos.

"Got it!" the two replied in unison as they braced themselves near the levers.

"Everyone ready? Hold on tight—don't fall out! 1, 2, 3, now!" Doraemon yelled. Kelly pulled the outermost lever to the second notch and held it, while Karen yanked the other two levers down with all her might.

Boom! A deafening noise rang out as the time tunnel opened an exit. The time machine accelerated toward the opening, hurtling out at such a high speed that it couldn't stop even after exiting. It crashed into the surface beyond, flinging all four passengers out of the machine.

Reacting quickly, Doraemon pulled out a spherical gadget, catching Nobita mid-air and activating a protective shield. Kelly and Karen tumbled to the ground below, but their energy armor—though still in stealth mode—shielded them from fatal injuries.

Dazed, they picked themselves up, rubbing their arms and legs. "Everyone okay?" Nobita asked, but he fell silent as he took in the scene before him.

"Oh my god, where are we?!" Karen and Kelly exclaimed in shock, standing up and surveying their surroundings.

Doraemon, equally bewildered, murmured, "This is…"

They found themselves in a place bathed entirely in blue. It seemed like a vast ocean, but the surface was solid, almost as if it had frozen—but not quite. There was nothing but blue all around them. The endless expanse of this strange "ocean" was matched by a blue sky, with no discernible horizon—just an uninterrupted gradient of blue merging land and sky.

Everything was eerily silent, save for the faint hissing from the time machine. The group stood frozen, their mouths agape, staring in awe at the surreal blue world.

Suddenly, Doraemon adjusted the pocket force field gadget he held and pulled Nobita closer to him. He then turned to Kelly and Karen, shouting, "Activate your energy armor! Does it have radiation shielding? If not, come closer to me!"

Hearing his urgency, Kelly and Karen quickly activated their energy armor. A glow enveloped them both as the shield engaged. Only then did they turn to Doraemon.

"It can handle radiation. But why are you asking this? Is there a lot of radiation here?" Kelly inquired.

"Not just a lot—it's extremely intense. Fortunately, you two have armor, and I managed to activate the pocket force field as soon as we arrived," Doraemon explained gravely.

Kelly and Karen frowned. "Radiation? We didn't notice earlier because of the armor. So… where are we? Did we accidentally land on another planet?"

Doraemon swallowed hard, his expression dark. "No, this place is…"
