Chapter 84:
Chapter 84:
Zhang Min was momentarily stunned.
“Who are you?” he asked.
Miao Cuihua proudly chimed in, “I am his mother!”
Jiang Feng sneered.
Zhang Min, looking at the dark-skinned woman before him, stayed silent for a long time before speaking. “Well, you certainly gave birth to someone extraordinary.”
“What’s so extraordinary about giving birth?” Jiang Feng laughed. “Mom, it’s like the saying: bad bamboo still produces good shoots.”
“What bamboo? What shoots? Stop talking nonsense!” Miao Cuihua snapped at Jiang Feng, then turned to the teacher with a flattering smile. “Teacher, we’re from the countryside. I understand if the school has rules about not enrolling after the deadline, and I think that’s perfectly fine. We won’t be reporting anything!”
“No reporting?” Zhang Min raised an eyebrow. “Rules are made by humans, after all. Some candidates come from far away, and we understand if they miss the reporting time. In fact, there are only half the students here right now—that’s normal.”
Given the recent reinstatement of the college entrance exam, many students faced difficulties traveling, so it wasn’t unusual for some to be delayed.
“Young man, just hand over your notice, and I’ll take care of everything. It’ll be done in no time.”
“No!” Miao Cuihua shouted angrily, trying to drag Jiang Feng away. She shot him a sharp, threatening glance as she did so.
But—
Jiang Feng coldly shook her off. “Teacher, my notice was stolen by my brother, who’s currently attending school using my identity. I am Li Feng, and I’m here to enroll in the aerospace communications major.”
Zhang Min was taken aback when he heard the name Li Feng. He had encountered someone by that name before.
And the name stood out to him.
Top of the major, but near the bottom of the entrance exam results! If this were a case of identity theft, everything would make sense.
Compared to the “Li Feng” he’d previously met, the young man before him, who had immediately impressed him, seemed far more believable.
To score so highly in the college entrance exam, especially during its reinstatement, required not only intellect but also the passion and ambition to contribute to the country.
And this Li Feng fit that profile perfectly.
Zhang Min’s expression became serious. “Follow me. This matter needs to be investigated immediately. If what you say is true, the school will take action, and we’ll report it officially.”
Report it?
Make it official?
This was her biological son!
If this all came to light, wouldn’t her younger son’s future be completely ruined?
Hearing this, Miao Cuihua’s vision darkened for a moment.
“Teacher, please don’t listen to him. He’s lying! His name is Li You, and we came here today to visit his older brother, Li Feng. He’s been jealous of his brother since childhood. I thought he came to Jingcheng University today just to visit his brother, but it turns out he had something else in mind! I’ll take him away right now!”
Wang Zhijun, the village chief, was furious.
“What are you talking about? How could you do such a thing!”
He turned to Zhang Min with a sincere expression. “Teacher, I’m the village chief of Tianshu Village. I came here to testify for Xiao Feng. He was the one admitted to university. His mother secretly forced him to give up his notice so that his younger brother could go to school. I’m here to ask the school how to handle this.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? He’s just jealous of his brother and trying to steal his place at school!” Miao Cuihua said anxiously. “Village Chief, I know you care about Xiao Feng, but how could you let him frame his brother like this? Xiaoyou is excelling in school!”
The village chief was so furious that he clutched his chest in pain.
He had seen favoritism before, but never like this.
This level of bias was beyond belief.
“I’m telling the truth! I’m his mother—why would I lie?” Miao Cuihua gritted her teeth, heart racing. “Teacher, I swear on my honor that I’m not lying!”
“Ha.”
Honor?
Jiang Feng found it amusing.
Did she really think her swearing on her honor would make Li You’s impersonation believable?
“Mom, whether it’s true or not, the entrance exam will make it clear. None of this will help you. Besides, there are plenty of people in the village who can testify for me.”
Jiang Feng’s expression was calm, his eyes filled with an indifference that suggested he had everything under control. His confidence made others feel like they had no choice but to trust him.
As Miao Cuihua met Jiang Feng’s gaze, she began to panic.
The young man before her was proud and unyielding. He was free-spirited and full of confidence.
Looking at him, she was reminded of that extraordinary man who had gone to the countryside all those years ago.
The character and temperament that radiated from Jiang Feng’s very being were almost identical.
And those eyes of his—they were like black holes, seeming to see right through her, causing her heart to beat wildly.
Things were really spiraling out of control.
Soon, Zhang Min led them to the Institute of Aerospace Technology and Communications.
Few students chose this major.
When they reached the classroom, Miao Cuihua looked through the window and saw Li You, slumped over his desk, fast asleep.
“My son!”
Her eyes lit up. At the sight of Li You, all her panic was forgotten.
Nothing mattered more than her son’s future! She had to fight for it!
Zhang Min entered the classroom.
After a short conversation with the teacher inside, they called Li You out. The teacher’s face was one of shock.
Li You, yawning, stepped out of the classroom. The moment he saw Jiang Feng, he nearly fainted from fear.
“Brother… no, no, I mean, brother, what are you doing here?” he stammered, panic rising within him.
Had Jiang Feng come to expose him?
Li You’s heart raced, and he clenched his fists. He put on a remorseful expression.
“Brother, I really can’t give you the notice. It’s wrong to impersonate someone else! You should pass the entrance exam on your own merit! You’re a bright young man, and I know you’ll succeed with hard work.”
“Yes, exactly!” Miao Cuihua said, trying to keep a straight face. “Your older brother is talented and got into this top university. You should be happy for him, not come here trying to take his place with some ridiculous story! Do you really think the teachers will believe you?”
“Mom, don’t blame him. He just wants to study. But success in school requires talent, and he knows that.” Li You added.
The two of them seemed to be performing a well-rehearsed play. The entire scene was unnervingly quiet.
Even the students in the classroom craned their necks to watch, their faces full of disbelief.
Jiang Feng chuckled softly. “It’s a shame neither of you went into acting. But, let’s be honest: not just anyone can be first in the major. It’s not something that can be handed over to just any random person.”
He paused, then turned to Zhang Min and said seriously, “Teacher, I’m willing to take the entrance test right now to prove that I am the real Li Feng.”
