Chapter 76:

Chapter 76:

When Jiang Feng was about to report to the team, he finally saw Jiang Nan and Xiao Xue again after half a month. In just two weeks, both Jiang Nan and Xiao Xue looked noticeably worn out. Xiao Xue’s clothes were wrinkled, and her pitiful expression made her look fragile. She stood by Jiang Yuan, looking like she wanted to speak, but hesitated.

Her once delicate appearance was gone, replaced by red and swollen eyes. “Brother Yuan,” Xiao Xue said, her voice trembling with hurt, “Why didn’t you come find me? You know I’ve been waiting for you.”

Jiang Yuan’s face remained expressionless as he coldly interrupted her. “Your things are packed here along with everything from the house. Check if anything is missing.”

His tone was harsh and devoid of any warmth. There was no trace of affection in his words.

Xiao Xue’s eyes widened in shock, her face turning pale.

“Brother Yuan, how can you be so heartless? We’ve been married for 10 years,” she said, her eyes filling with tears once again, “I’ve been waiting for you this whole time, hoping you’d come back to me.”

She had deliberately left some of her belongings behind, believing Jiang Yuan would come looking for her. Xiao Xue was convinced he still loved her and that their separation was only temporary. But a week had passed, and Jiang Yuan hadn’t contacted her. To her horror, she even discovered that he had blocked her number.

Desperate, Xiao Xue couldn’t stay away any longer. “Brother Yuan, why did you block me? Even though we’re divorced, can you really forget everything we had? Can you truly be this heartless?”

Jiang Nan, who had once been arrogant, now stood by looking defeated, like a plant wilted by frost. He was stunned, unsure of what to do or say.

“Xiao Xue,” Jiang Yuan sighed, “We’re already divorced. I’ve been more than fair to you all these years, and I’ve made things very clear. Even if we ignore your past actions, the way you’ve manipulated things and how your son has treated me—there’s no going back after what happened to our son.”

“Brother Yuan!” Xiao Xue cried.

“Hurry up and don’t ever appear in front of me again,” Jiang Yuan said coldly, not even bothering to look back as he walked away, resolute and unyielding.

Over the next few days, Xiao Xue continued to show up around Jiang Yuan’s villa, dressed up and hoping for a “chance” meeting. She would linger outside the community gates, waiting for him, her persistence unwavering. Jiang Feng even bumped into her several times when he returned home.

Initially, Jiang Yuan still felt some pity for Xiao Xue, perhaps even a small flicker of nostalgia. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have returned the cash she had left behind. But Xiao Xue’s relentless pursuit soon wore him down. Her constant appearances, desperate pleas, and refusal to let go made him increasingly frustrated, extinguishing any lingering sentiments he had.

In the end, Jiang Yuan decided to sell the villa and move to a different location just to avoid her. After the move, he finally felt at peace.

While Jiang Yuan was free of Xiao Xue’s harassment, Jiang Feng wasn’t so lucky. When Xiao Xue and Jiang Nan couldn’t find Jiang Yuan, they turned their attention to Jiang Feng, pestering him endlessly.

Rain or shine, they would appear and apologize repeatedly.

“Xiao Feng, I’m sorry, really sorry. But I can’t live without your father. Please, can you forgive us? Tell your father to take me back. I’ll be a good stepmother, I swear! I’ll listen to you from now on.”

“Brother, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have done what I did before… I know that now. We’ve been punished enough. Every day, my mother cries until her eyes swell. She’s so miserable. Can’t you forgive her?”

Their core message was always the same: We’re suffering, so you must forgive us.

From a distance, Jiang Feng would take detours whenever he spotted them. But eventually, after days of being hounded, he finally stopped to confront them. Seeing this, Xiao Xue and Jiang Nan’s eyes lit up with hope, and they immediately clung to him, humility etched across their faces.

“Xiao Feng, are you finally willing to forgive us?” Xiao Xue wept. “We’ve realized our mistakes these past few days. The internet is scolding us, and I’ve lost my job. Your father blocked all my calls and messages. I don’t know what to do anymore. Do you want me to kneel in front of you to prove how sorry I am?”

Tears streamed down her face as she cried uncontrollably.

Jiang Nan, filled with resentment but helpless, gritted his teeth and added, “Xiao Feng, this is all my fault. Blame me if you want, but please, let my mother come back. She really loves your father. She can’t live without him!”

For days, Xiao Xue had done nothing but cry. She felt like a walking corpse, consumed by one thought: I must see Jiang Yuan.

It wasn’t until she lost everything that she realized how much better her life had been before. Jiang Yuan had treated her so well—better than she had ever appreciated.
