Chapter 70:

Chapter 70:

The news of Jiang Yuan and Xiao Xue’s divorce quickly reached Jiang Feng and Jiang Nan while they were filming the show.

Jiang Nan shot to his feet. “This is impossible! Uncle Yuan loves my mother! There’s no way he would divorce her! This has to be fake!”

His face twisted with disbelief, his expression becoming ugly. “I don’t believe it! Where’s my phone? I need to call my mom!”

Jiang Feng rolled his eyes. “Some people really don’t give up until they hit rock bottom.”

Jiang Nan frantically searched for his phone, his hands trembling. Divorce… He couldn’t imagine what life would be like if his mother took him away from the Jiang family.

Before moving in with the Jiangs, Xiao Xue’s salary barely covered their basic needs. He remembered those days vividly—often missing meals and living in poverty.

Xiao Xue was always exhausted and had no time or energy to cook for him. They could only afford cheap meals like noodles or dumplings, and he rarely had a proper meal.

His life only improved after they moved into the Jiang household. But now… would he be forced to leave?

A deep fear crept over Jiang Nan as memories of their dark, cramped apartment resurfaced. There was no food, no light, only hunger. That feeling of deprivation began to overwhelm him again, sinking into his bones.

‘Am I going to starve again? No! I can’t go back to that!’

Panicked, Jiang Nan paced frantically, like an ant on a hot stove.

Without caring whether it was appropriate, he rushed to the director’s team and borrowed a phone to call Xiao Xue.

As soon as the line connected, he ignored the cameras around him and blurted out, “Mom, are you really divorcing Uncle Yuan? Is this true? Why would he suddenly want to divorce you? You need to talk to him! He loves you—he’s always listened to you before!”

“That’s your fault!” Xiao Xue snapped on the other end. “If it weren’t for the nonsense you pulled on that show, would he be divorcing me? I told you to participate to gain fans, but look at what you said! Do you even know what people are saying about you? How did I end up with a son like you? All you’ve done is drag me down!”

Xiao Xue was furious. In her hand, she clutched the divorce agreement Jiang Yuan had handed her. When she first saw the document, her vision went dark, and she nearly fainted.

To be honest, the terms were quite generous. He didn’t give her shares in the company, but he did offer her a property and a large sum of money—enough to live comfortably without working for the rest of her life. But that wasn’t what Xiao Xue wanted.

As she stared at the black-and-white agreement, a deep sorrow washed over her. She realized that this time, Jiang Yuan was serious. He truly intended to divorce her.

Despite her hatred for Jiang Feng, she had tolerated him all these years to avoid a divorce. But now, her son had ruined everything.

Her anger boiled over, and she directed it all toward Jiang Nan.

“What good are you, anyway? Do you even know what people are saying about you online? They think you’re fake and hypocritical! I told you to act nice to Jiang Feng on the show, but what did you do? All those snide remarks—did you think people wouldn’t notice? Are you trying to make them dig up the past? How could I have such a foolish son!”

After unleashing her fury, Xiao Xue hung up the phone. The sudden dial tone left Jiang Nan in stunned silence. If his mother was this angry, then it must be true.

“Tsk, are you about to be thrown out?” Jiang Feng said with a smirk. “Serves you right. Looks like the old man finally woke up. It’s about time.”

Jiang Nan said nothing, his face ashen.

“But my dad’s probably too soft-hearted. He must’ve left something for your mom,” Jiang Feng added, his voice brimming with satisfaction.

He couldn’t have predicted that his father would file for divorce immediately after watching the first episode of the show. It was proof that his father still had some redeeming qualities and cared deeply for the original Jiang Feng.

Watching Jiang Nan’s defeated expression, Jiang Feng felt a surge of joy. He relished seeing Jiang Nan in this state, furious but powerless, like a loser. It gave him a deep sense of satisfaction.

Suddenly, Jiang Nan looked up at him, desperation in his eyes.

“Xiao Feng, can you talk to my father? My mother’s been through so much for him over the years. You can’t be so heartless. She really loves your father. Even before your mom passed away, she took care of him. Your mom was in the hospital for years, lying there while mine cared for your dad for 10 years. Don’t you think it’s cruel to throw us out now?”

Jiang Nan’s voice trembled with anger and frustration. “10 years. Even with a dog, you’d develop feelings. You can’t do this!”
