Chapter 7
Chapter 7: Come On, Let’s Risk It All:
As soon as the police stepped out of the Su family’s living room, Su Qiqi, who had been sobbing pitifully in Liu Yanyan’s arms, immediately turned her head and sneered at Su Chen with a smug expression.
“Su Chen, so what if you called the police?!”
“They couldn’t do anything to me!”
“Go on, keep pretending to be crazy!”
“Su Chen, no matter how much you act like a fool, it’s useless!”
“Just accept your fate already!”
Liu Yanyan looked at Su Chen, who was still lying on the ground, and frowned as if she were looking at something dirty.
“Su Chen, get up already.”
“Even if your second sister’s words weren’t pleasant to hear…”
“We’re all family. There’s no need to air our dirty laundry in front of outsiders.”
“Remember, you’re part of the Su family. You should protect the family’s reputation.”
Su Lili and Su Mu remained silent, but the disdain and ridicule in their eyes toward Su Chen spoke volumes.
Mom and Su Qiqi were right!
Su Zhenxing didn’t comment on Liu Yanyan and Su Qiqi’s words, but seeing Su Chen still lying there irritated him. He scolded loudly.
“Su Chen, get up!”
“The police are gone. Who are you still pretending for?!”
“You saw it yourself—acting crazy won’t help you!”
“Stop putting on a show!”
“Stand up immediately!”
“Stop embarrassing yourself!”
Su Chen completely ignored the words and attitudes of everyone in the Su family.
He no longer shouted or threw tantrums.
His face was calm—so calm that it seemed like the person who had just been rolling on the floor screaming wasn’t him at all.
Su Chen slowly sat up, then stood up.
He leisurely smoothed out the wrinkles on his school uniform and gently brushed the dust off his clothes.
Throughout the process, he didn’t spare a single glance at anyone in the Su family.
Then, he casually sat down at the dining table, poured himself a cup of tea, and drank it in one go.
After yelling so much, his throat was dry. He had to reward himself with some tea.
Only after finishing his drink did Su Chen finally lift his gaze and sweep it over the Su family members.
Then, he smiled faintly.
“But starting tomorrow—no, starting tonight…”
“The news about the Su family’s second daughter being a thief will spread all over Hai City.”
Su Chen looked at Su Qiqi and smiled softly.
“Congratulations, Su Qiqi. You’re about to become famous!”
Su Qiqi froze for a moment before realizing the meaning behind Su Chen’s words.
Instantly, her face turned pale, and her eyes filled with fear.
Su Chen was going to ruin her!
Wasn’t it just a harmless joke?
Did Su Chen really have to be this ruthless?!
Su Qiqi suddenly jumped out of Liu Yanyan’s embrace, pointed at Su Chen, and screamed in fury.
“Su Chen, you did this on purpose!”
“You called the police just to let them know about the stolen watch so they would spread the news!”
“Su Chen, you’re so vicious!”
Su Chen poured himself another cup of tea and took a sip before tilting his head and smiling at Su Qiqi.
“And what if I did?”
“Su Qiqi, no matter how angry you are, it won’t change the fact that you’re now known as a thief!”
Su Qiqi glared at Su Chen with hatred, her body trembling uncontrollably—whether from rage or fear, it was unclear.
Su Zhenxing was livid.
He finally understood that Su Chen had been acting all along—just to solidify the accusation against Su Qiqi and spread her disgrace far and wide.
“Su Chen, you ungrateful brat!”
“Do you think having a thief in the family will do anything good for your reputation?!”
“How can you be so heartless?!”
“You unfilial child!”
“I’ll beat you to death!”
Saying that, Su Zhenxing grabbed a teacup from the table and was about to throw it at Su Chen.
The rest of the Su family looked on excitedly, eager to see Su Zhenxing smash the cup into Su Chen’s face.
But before Su Zhenxing could throw it, Su Chen swiftly grabbed a fruit knife from the table and dashed toward him.
Su Zhenxing was so startled that he shivered, dropping the teacup onto the floor with a crisp crash.
This unfilial brat—he actually dared to pull a knife on his own father!
Su Zhenxing thought he was about to get stabbed.
But to his shock, Su Chen didn’t attack. Instead, he shoved the knife into Su Zhenxing’s hand and even helped him close his fingers around the handle.
Then, Su Chen grabbed his father’s hand, positioning the blade against his own neck.
Now, the fruit knife was pressed directly against Su Chen’s throat.
Su Zhenxing’s eyes widened in horror, his hand trembling violently. He had no idea what Su Chen was trying to do.
Then…
Su Chen’s eyes gleamed with excitement, and his lips curled into a smirk.
“Come on! Do it!”
“Throwing a teacup wasn’t satisfying enough, huh?”
“A knife would be much more thrilling!”
“Here, cut my throat—let’s see how exciting that would be!”
“Come on! Come on!”
“Do it!”
Su Chen’s voice grew louder and louder, sending chills down Su Zhenxing’s spine. His legs went weak, and he could no longer hold the knife.
Clang!
The fruit knife fell to the ground.
It bounced slightly as if disappointed that it had not tasted blood.
Su Chen glanced at Su Zhenxing with a mocking expression before shifting his gaze to the knife on the floor.
After experiencing life and death, Su Chen had long understood that in this world, the one who dares to go further wins.
And he had already died once—what else did he have to fear?
As for Su Zhenxing? He clearly wasn’t willing to go all the way.
Su Chen immediately lost interest.
“This is boring.”
“You don’t even have the guts to risk your life!”
“How dull!”
“Are you still going to fight?”
“If not, I’m tired and going to bed!”
Yawning, Su Chen stretched lazily.
Su Zhenxing, still in shock, stood frozen, his body finally stopping its trembling after the knife hit the floor.
He opened his mouth to say something but hesitated and remained silent.
The rest of the Su family had been stunned ever since Su Chen pressed the knife against his own throat.
Was this really necessary?!
Was it really necessary?!
At most, he would have gotten scolded or beaten—did he really need to take out a knife and act like he was ready to die?!
Seeing that no one had anything more to say, Su Chen lost interest, turned around, and left, yawning again as he followed the path to his room.
The Su family watched him go, all thinking the same thing.
He’s crazy!
He’s completely crazy!
Su Chen returned to his room and pushed open the door. A damp, stifling air greeted him.
Frowning, he turned on the light.
What met his eyes was a narrow rectangular room, barely five or six square meters in size. With no windows, the room was hot and humid.
Inside was a single, tiny bed covered in a set of washed-out, damp blankets.
Besides the bed, there was no other furniture—nor was there space for any.
